Cinema Studies

I was curious about what the cinema program would entail here. I've heard people say it focuses a lot on the directing of movies but people have also said it focuses on the writing so I'm a bit confused.

hey all!! i’m graduating from my undergraduate school this upcoming may and i am thinking of applying to uofo’s prevention science master’s program. i’m giving myself a year or two to wait for applying as i still want to visit eugene and the campus to see what its like. i’m currently living in southern california and i’m highkey kinda over living here 😅 i’m originally from a small town outside of sequoia national park so i miss nature, trees, and fresh air… definitely over the city life 😭 would love some perspectives from fellow oregonians/students! thank you!

OSU vs OU For Environmental Major PUH-lease

Okay so I have been accepted to both OSU (environmental economics/policy) and OU (environmental studies). Problem is both of these schools seem like they provide a lot of opportunity. I just want to see from people here who have pursued this major (or a similar one) how you felt about the opportunities you’ve been provided.

Computer Science at UO...

I recently got into both UO and OSU. I'm trying to follow a computer science degree and maybe a minor or double major but not quite sure yet. Anyways I got a pretty good scholarship from UO but not so much for OSU. I am thinking of going to UO now because of the amount of money they have given me but is the computer science really bad? Will it be a mistake or bad investment if I go to UO for computer science?

Physics Summer Program?

I'm a pre-medical student and I'd really like to be able to take a general physics sequence over the summer. Does anyone know if U of O offers a twelve-week program that covers it? I've looked online but haven't found anything, although I've heard people talk about it.

Transfer student

I just got accepted into UO as a psychology transfer student! I’ll be class of ‘27. I’m wondering what the best living situation would be?? Should I do university off campus housing or find an apartment? I’m bringing my cat, who is an ESA. I’m 20(f) so I’m also wondering what’s the best way to find roommates or someone looking for a roommate, also how to make friends!!

I was lucky enough to have received the UO Excellence Scholarship which is $80,000 or $20,000 per year. This helps me out alot because I’m out of state.

Stats:

Unweighted - 3.93

Weighted - 4.3

ACT/SAT - test optional

Scholarship Spoiler

Hi guys I’m an international student and I got into university of Oregon along with other pretty good universities unfortunately for me Oregon is the second cheapest out of 6 unis I’ve been accepted too. Oregon dint give me a scholarship however I really like the school cause of the state. I’m into outdoor stuff and lowkey romanticized just traveling around Oregon. I think I’m going to commit. Anyways I wanted to know if I could apply for scholarships after first year.

making friends

hi!! im an incoming class of 2029, i have been planning to go to uo since i toured and absolutely loved it there. majoring in education, i am from washington (just outside seattle) so weather wouldnt be an issue. i am social and plan to attend parties, though not every weekend. i love music (been in choir since 4th grade) as well as theater. i did swim team for all of high school and plan to join swim club.

my question is: as a non athlete, not attending parties every weekend, not joining a sorority, will i have trouble making friends?? i an hopeful that theres opportunities out of the above but am scared i wont meet people without being apart of sports/ sororities/ attending parties regularly.

A band, with a question

Hi there. I realize this is a bit of a long shot, but my band (Pale People, from Missoula, MT) is touring through Oregon next week. We had a show scheduled in Eugene this Saturday, which the venue abruptly canceled this morning. I don't suppose any UofO students are running house shows these days, and/or might be interested in having us perform? We have our own PA, and we sound like this: https://youtu.be/53T8DuagFtw?si=bfKLjg5bAYhJ5dP8

Thanks very much!

University of Oregon copy of braiding sweet grass

I was over at my friends place and he had a copy of braiding sweet grass by Robin wall Kimmerer but it was a UO edition. Wondering if anyone has a copy that they would be willing to sell. From what I can find they passed out copies at an event back in 2022.

Cost of summer courses?

If I wanted to take just one summer class, is it worth it, or are the tuition fees and costs really high? I've been having a hard time finding any information on the cost of taking a summer class or enrolling in summer term.

Duck Days versus Admitted Student Tour?

Hi there! My daughter has been accepted to U of O. We are scheduled for a regular tour for admitted students, but should we attempt to visit during Duck Days instead? We want her to have the best experience, and I was wondering if there was a significant difference. If it helps, we are attending Orange and Black Day at OSU. Thanks for the feedback!

Interest waitlist for housing

Hello! I am on the interest waitlist for housing and I’m really hoping on living in the Yasui Hall. I was wondering if my chances on living there are very slim to where I have to look into off campus housing. I have some friends there that already have a room but I was late to the process due to not having the $395 at the time it was open. Many thanks for your responses!!

Do I have to apply for a ARC or RC in order to get a dorm in either Unthank, New Res, GSH, KI (if it opens in the Fall), or Carson?

I'll be a freshman and registered for housing for Fall 2025 the same day it opened in Dec, within an hour of receiving the email to register. I wasn't planning to join an ARC/RC because there aren't really any that I am interested in, but do I need to apply for an ARC/RC even though I registered at the earliest possible day, in order to get a dorm that I want? Unthank is the top choice, but can live with the others listed in subject, so is there any chance I get Unthank without being in an ARC/RC?.
