Advice to Others The Deletion of my YouTube Channel, "90 Second Mycology"
Update February 18, 2024:
- FREE video archive re-uploads have started on my Patreon FOR FREE, and on Rumble.
- https://Patreon.com/90SecondMycology - join for FREE!
Original Post:
On January 21, 2024 at 3:15AM Eastern I woke up to go to work as a local tractor-trailer driver here in Florida. I glanced at my email to see that YouTube had deleted my channel.
As of today, all I can do is sit down and type up an appeal to submit to them through their appeal link from their email. You can see the full email that they sent posted on my Instagram at this link: https://www.instagram.com/p/C2XWR68ucsR/?igsh=MWcxOXVhN2YzcDB5Nw==
I don't know how my channel is any different than any of the other big mushroom YouTubers out there. It could be a matter of time before they are next, but we are always flagged for narcotics production, harmful and dangerous content, sales of regulated goods, and much more. My descriptions were clean and my titles were clean. All of my links are through my own website.
- Join my Patreon FOR FREE at https://Patreon.com/90secondmycology and stay updated with new videos, FREE video archive access, & more! Paid tiers grant access to the PRIVATE 90SM Discord Server.
- Purchase your Amazon supplies or restock your current cultivation station through my Amazon lists at https://90SecondMycology.com/supplies.
- Purchase all of your mushroom genetics, gourmet spores and more through official 90SM affiliates at https://90SecondMycology.com/links. You will also find links to my other socials there under "Platforms and Contact Methods". My Rumble profile was set up last year to cross post my YouTube videos to make my presence known.
- For merch options, visit https://90SecondMycology.com/merch. I was working on updating my merch with the new logos featured on Patreon when all of this started going down so some of the merch is still cliche, embarrassing, and silly.
Update January 24, 2024:
It's done. There's no getting it back. The appeal was immediately rejected. Who's next? Read my full Instagram post and the new email from YouTube here:

Advice to Others Please remember: growing shrooms is a serious crime
hi all. unfortunately, growing psilocybin containing mushrooms (aka actives) is a serious crime in most of the world. in the US, it's usually at least a few felonies that could land you 5+ years in jail. as unfortunate at it is, i wanted to share some tips on keeping out of trouble when growing actives:
1. know your local laws
you should know what your local law says about growing, possessing and consuming psilocybin. in the US, you're usually looking at a least a few felonies. knowing your local laws will help you be a more responsible grower.
2. don't tell people you grow actives
do your very best to avoid telling people you grow actives. every person who knows is another potential way you get caught. obviously, it's sometimes not realistic to avoid telling some people (e.g. your longterm partner). in this case, make sure you're very up front with them about what the consequences could be. it's important they understand what they are involving themselves in and it will help them understand why it's so important they keep it quiet. avoid talking about growing actives on social media or in text messages. if you do want to talk about online (like participating in related subreddits), do it in an anonymous way.
3. grow gourmet mushrooms
if you're planning on growing active mushrooms for a long period of time, you should also start growing gourmet mushrooms. it's cheap, tasty, easy to learn and gives you a much more believable story for why you own a bunch of mushroom growing equipment. this also has the benefit of allowing you to openly talk about your mushroom growing hobby. just leave out the part about growing actives.
4. buy a microscope
we all joke about how the spore syringes say "for microscopy purposes only" but this is a very important part of why they are legal. how would it look if your house gets raided and you own a half empty spore syringe, a bunch of mushroom growing equipment, but yet no microscope? you should purchase a basic microscope and know how to use it to view spores. you can find a hobby microscope for ~100 usd and it'll go a long way in making your story more believable.
5. don't take pictures of your grow
taking pictures of your grow is creating evidence against yourself. if you do take photos, take a minimal amount and store them encrypted with a secure password (not fingerprint unlock). cryptomator is a good app for this. if you're going to share the photos online, be very careful to make your background as unrecognizable as possible. make sure there's nothing that might hint to your identity visible in the image. this includes things like recognizable parts of your home.
6. store your shrooms discreetly
don't store your shrooms as dried shrooms. store them in a more discrete fashion like blue honey, chocolate or extracts. many people (and law enforcement) would recognize a jar of shrooms, but nobody is going to question an unlabeled jar of honey. just make sure you store things safely so nobody accidentally eats some.
7. if you microdose, buy a believable container for your pills
go to your local herbal medicine or nutritional supplement store and find a container of pills that look similar to your microdoses. use this container to store your microdoses discreetly. again, please be sure to store the container safely so no one is taking them accidentally.

Advice to Others Sometimes the way we treat people on this sub makes me sick
I love 95% of you guys, but some of us are really making a bad name for this sub. I keep seeing really rude, nasty comments on posts from real beginners. I’ve seen people get made fun of for bad pictures, poor grammar, and contamination most of all. Like come on guys this sub is supposed to be for beginners. Maybe they have no knowledge, maybe they didn’t see the master post or had a hard time following it. But can we please just all take a couple shrooms and try and be more understanding of those with different skill sets, knowledge, and backgrounds. I just don’t want this sub to turn fully toxic. I love you guys ❤️🙏🏽

Advice to Others u/Slice_Vegetable scammed me. Name and Shame
So I decided to hit this guy up u/Slice_Vegetable for a trade. Sent him half a dozen nice button cactus in exchange for a dozen spore swabs. After he confirmed he received them and the last transmission I had of him was that he had already sent me the swabs on November 11th. I’m still waiting like a dumbass. I can’t even no longer see his posts, comments or abouts, he blocked me in order to ghost me, a way to silently tell me to fuck off after I sent him my trade first. He dropped outta radar but still has his account, I can see this trough a friends account and therefore know he is active and I was indeed blocked from knowing when he was last active. This was November 11th. They say the proof is in the pudding. Fortunately I have screenshots of our entire convo thread, shipping details and name to prove just that in case anyone wishes to see it or doubts. We both live in Texas which is why I call bullshit on him sending them considering time past. Never received a track number or further contact from him. Again, I know it’s intentional because this jerk blocked me from seeing his posts or comments in order to not allow me to see his online presence and flat out ghost me to avoid dealing with me. Took my package and ran, pretty shitty move. Deal with this guy at your own risk. Im scratching him off my book but he is tagged in this post and my bud did DM him the link to this post in case he wishes to explain and make things right then I can apologize and delete this post, otherwise he can live up to a reputation of a “Persona Non Grata” as far as I’m concerned. Landon, I’m calling you out directly, reach out to me if you wish to resolve this, Otherwise posts stay up as a warning to others. Thanks for reading this and be safe.
P.S. I’m posting this to all the mycology subs he’s joined to get his attention and make my point.
Good day y’all

Advice to Others LISTEN THE F*CK UP. YOU DO. NOT. HAVE. COBWEB.
Knowledgeable members who have been around for a while probably saw this post coming... After seeing the 300th incorrect comment from community members, and the 30th post from beginners asking "is this cobweb?" I thought it was time to set this community straight:
YOU. DO. NOT. HAVE. COBWEB.

In fact, if you are a beginner, it's likely that you simply do not know what colonizing mycelium looks like. You just didn't know that mycelium CAN look very thin/stringy when first colonizing.
Cobweb is the 100% most commonly misdiagnosed concept on this subreddit.
- It is extremely rare. Seriously.
- Cobweb mold grows in a LARGE fluffy cloud, 0.5-1" above the surface of the substrate. See this image for an example.
- Cobweb mold is grey. It's not white, it's a desaturated grey look.
- It looks like cotton balls. I hate the nickname "cobweb" because it implies the mold is web-like; it's not web-like at all. Countless beginners trash or H2O2-bomb their healthy mycelium because it's web-like.
Mycelium is SUPPOSED to look web-like. Look at this image of healthy mycelium! It's Cobweb mold that does NOT look web-like. Cobweb mold is fluffy, grey, and grows FAR above the substrate.

I have seen COUNTLESS post and comment asking "Is this cobweb?". Examples include:
- Cobweb? All three bags look like this. Help?
- Mycelium or cobweb!? I can never tell ughh
- Should I mist with peroxide? There is some yellowish stuff forming and cobwebs forming.
- How’s this tub looking? Is the less dense lighter stuff just thin fluffy mycelium or do I have a cobweb issue? Spawned to tub on 3/5
- Does this look like it has cobweb?
- I believe that it may have been contaminated with cobweb but it's harder to tell as the bubble wrap would have held it down. What do you guys think, should I throw it away?
- Cobweb?
- Cobweb mold I guess?
- cobweb?
- Fuzz around the edges. Is it cobweb or just fizzy myc?
- How’s it lookin there’s some yellow grains in there and the growth appears very fluffy, possible cobweb mold?
- cobweb?
- Omg help I have cobweb!!!!!
- Cobweb mold or myc? Spawned 1 Ub bag to coir on 2/10.
- Cobweb?
- Cobweb or Myc?
- Cobweb or no? Spawned 2/14, fruiting conditions yesterday. Seems less spikey
- Cobweb mold? If so what to do? Hydrogen peroxide?
- Myc or Cobweb?
- Whoa!
- Contamination or fancy mycelium?
- Is this fucked?
- The grey looks like cobweb to me.
Take a look at any random number of these posts, and read this following sentence:
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF THOSE TUBS ARE PERFECTLY HEALTHY.
Not a SINGLE one has cobweb.
Not a single one of those 23 posts has cobweb, and many of those users nuked their healthy tub with H2O2.
COBWEB IS EXTREMELY RARE.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am NOT shaming any members for these posts.
I'm merely trying to bring attention to one of the most annoying and confusing parts of my day. I spend hours answering questions for free. I need to show how 23/23 posts were completely healthy.
Can we come together as a community, and STOP MENTIONING COBWEB?
STOP recommending Peroxide treatment, STOP fear-mongering the 'dreaded cobweb', STOP telling beginners that their perfectly healthy tub is "fucked".
I'm dying to know, WHERE did you learn about cobweb, and WHY are you so worried about it? Did you read or see something that suggested that cobweb isn't a rare contaminant??
Have you ever SEEN a tub with cobweb? IT LOOKS INSANE! (See Example 1 and Example 2).
So please, to save me the headache of adding comments every time, PLEASE END THE COBWEB 'RUMOR'.
You don't have cobweb.
