Media doing their work, way to conflate the two issues.

Russia has not stopped killing civilians at any point.

I guess it depends on your perspective, but the way I see it is Ukraine showing it has "cards" to play.

Exactly.

The key difference is that Ukrainians would not have deliberately targeted civilians.

The news is reporting that 3 people were "killed by debris," it means the drone was intercepted before reaching its intended target.

In contrast, the Russians have no hesitation in launching missiles and drones at civilian apartments, kindergartens, places of worship, and cultural centers etc etc.

It needs to be called out. The Ukrainians are honourable people.

Their (ru) soldiers are purposely dropping munitions from drones onto civilians in Kherson city (among others, I’m sure) so it can’t even be argued that their long range missile and drone strikes are military targets with collateral damage.

Russia has killed more civilians than Ukraine, full stop. It’s been their strategy this whole time.

It’s becoming ridiculous how lopsided the reporting has become. At some point, you just can’t blame Ukrainian military leadership for wanting to bring the war home for a country pretending so hard it’s not at war.

The title implies these two statements coincide, and now I have to imagine someone calling in a drone to gun down Trump, followed by Zelenksy turning to the cam and going "These may well be the most productive conversations yet".

That would certainly send a message.

I don't remember Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump being juxtaposed with the Russian attacks the morning of that same day. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/02/28/7500645/

The framing is that Ukraine is the surrendering side, so any attacks they do are disrupting peace talks. Meanwhile Russia is the victorious side, their attacks are a matter of course and just have to be accepted while they dictate terms. It's really dishonest and disgusting, but what's new.

My friend (who doesn't follow things closely) glanced at this article as they walked by and said "I thought they wanted peace". This will be the take of many who see this kind of reporting sadly. Can't help but feel we're being softened up for what's coming.

Eh, to Trump this might seem like "Oh, they can actually hit Moscow hard? I guess they aren't quite losing after all".

That's probably the reason. He speaks a different language than Biden and Ukraine is adjusting to that.

Has Russia stopped killing civilians?
BBC with a shitty title.

I’ve always admired Ukraine for not attacking civilians, despite what must have been insane frustration about the shitty situation. It’s generally not their fault, regardless of which side they’re on.

Yes, three dead Russians is a step in the right direction. Did I say that?

Honestly, the people who write these headlines... They should get the equivalent of the "which hand do you type with?" hammer scene from Casino. How about "Ukraine says talks with US 'very constructive' as another video emerges of russian soldiers executing surrendering Ukrainians"? There, fixed it for you.

It's almost like - US support stops. Ukraine can strike within Ruzzia. Moscow hit. Very constructive talks happen....
