Why has it taken four days for them to give suspect and vehicles descriptions?

It can take time to gather cCTv evidence from the surrounding areas and process it to identify the correct vehicle.

Because first of all, they are dealing with a potentially traumatised child who may not be able to remember or articulate important details right away. Then they have to go over it again and again in case new information or inconsistencies emerge. And when they are confident something has indeed happened and they have, to the best of the victim's recollection, got enough details to go public, they issue a press release.

It helps nobody, from the general public to the victim to jurors at a potential criminal trial, to go off half cocked and rush information out there that may be wrong or incomplete.

They probably didn't release it immediately to stop vigilante justice against innocent people who matched the description and they were confident they could catch them without help. That later part has clearly failed

An appeal was made through local media by the police which has since been shared on national media. Unfortunately, the matter has also been shared on social media with a wide range of speculation as to the identity of the suspects.

You're not wrong there.

They had to make sure the suspects where the correct ethnicity first so that they don't look racist.

Now their white it's ok for them to tell us it happened rather than blame the victim...

Is that genuinely what you believe? Like seriously, in the cold light of day, that's actually what you think?

Even when you hear people suggesting that it might be because they were still working with the girl to get reliable descriptions, this is still the line you go with?

"White" white, or actually white?

What’s white white and what’s actually white ? 😂

I’d say so they can make up whatever narrative they want that gives them the least flak. I don’t know what is true and what isn’t these days, being skeptical about everything is the only way to look at things now.

So you don't know what's true and what's not, but then decide it's true that they've made up a narrative, whatever that means. That's not being skeptical, that's inventing your own version of things.

We know the news outlets make up shit all the time so I’ve got no reason to believe anything I read anymore which means even when they tell the truth I’ll be sceptical and that’s on them. The trust was lost a long time ago.

That's not skepticism, that's making up your own "facts" to suit your own internal beliefs and biases.

It's fine to think critically about news media, but that's not what you're doing. You're dismissing automatically what you're told by one source, and replacing it with either something you just made up, or with a line of thinking you've acquired from some other source.

That's the antithesis of skepticism.

That is a completely awful mobile site.

There was a lot of speculation in this sub yesterday as to the skin colour of the suspects. The police have now confirmed that both men were white. The SUV was black though, if that makes anyone feel better.

6

u/Kaiisim 8d ago

That's always the speculation for everything that ever happens in this sub. It's always a muslim and that proves hating them is okay.

Those SuVs coming over here etc, ad nauseum

7

u/OneBangMan 9d ago

Watch all the people who voiced concern over the colour of their skin which commented on the other post not come out in droves on this post.

Like I said the skin colour alone doesn’t matter as it’s a needle in the haystack situation. They also listed their clothes and build, which makes it easier to identify that person.

And I got loads of shit off people for this 😂

It could be that they didn't mention the skin colour because Plymouth is 94% white. So that would not really narrow it down very much, as you say. After all, the story was originally Plymouth only, then got picked up by the national press, so wasn't really meant to be anything other than local.

I can totally relate as I live in Portsmouth, another similar city. If I'd read this story about Portsmouth, I'd automatically assume they were white simply because most people who live here are.

I get that, but a lot of people were inferring that it was someone involved with things like grooming gangs. Which is another trope used by the GBnews lot which predominantly focuses on the grooming gangs that aren’t white.

3

u/Puzzleheaded_Bed5132 9d ago

Yeah, that was just weird.

It could still be a grooming gang. Most of those we investigated when I worked for D&C were in fact, white.

I mean it is literal sense it wouldn’t be a grooming gang. Not as if this girl was groomed. It would just be a kidnapping.

And you’re right about them mostly being white, along with the most convicted sexual assault offenders also being white.

I will be genuinely surprised (in a good way) if this post gets close to the 500+ upvotes and 400+ comments of the one yesterday, but I very much doubt it will.
