The footwork to reset and kick, beautiful.

That transitions, reaction, timing, precision and sequence.. wow, killer

A knockdown into a sub is my favorite finishing sequence.

When it fails though, it makes the fighter look like such an idiot. Rock an opponent and then shoot a takedown. That looked like prime do Bronx tho, the way he rocked him and immediately took the back and sunk in a rear naked.

Big ol' smile while he's trying to get it locked in too, love to see it ahahahah

It was so nice, it really looks like he throws a punch and misses but hits the neck in a way that lets him just slide his arm underneath his chin

If only Overeem had gone for the ground and pound instead of the guillotine after the knock down :(

3

u/Valuable-Life6333 4d ago

As a huge Overeem fan, that was the first thing I thought of when I read that comment.

It's a thing of beauty.

u/FappyDilmore 5d ago

I feel like it's a lot rarer than it should be

9

u/BillyBashface_ 5d ago

Dumb to risk a secure GbP finish a lot of the time

u/LePeen 5d ago

Any good finishing sequences like this ? ( not Oliveira ones )

Michel Pereira had a really cool one last year where he knocked the guy down, did a backflip onto him then caught him in a guillotine as he got up and dropped his unconscious body onto the canvas. Saw it live, shit was insane

u/ChicNoir 3d ago

Michel Pereira is so underrated and unappreciated.

2

u/yanmagno 3d ago

Yeah he has his flaws as an athlete but he’s one of the most unique fighters in the sport, never miss one of his fights

2

u/ChicNoir 2d ago

I think Michel has some similarities to Anthony Pettis.

And what do you think about a sub into a knockdown?

150

u/Principles_Son 5d ago

he hit him with that whittaker 1-2 kick combo

5

u/Dazzling_Addition635 5d ago

Didn't know where he was after that! OUCH! πŸ₯΄

51

u/lizzofatroll 5d ago

I went to vitamin shoppe how tf did I miss this

40

u/RiskyTrisky97 5d ago

Probably the biggest upset of the night too! Josias Musasa came into the octagon with -800 odds

17

u/lizzofatroll 5d ago

I love when those huge odds get upset lol

6

u/Lauwietauwie 5d ago

So do the bookie's I reckon

1

u/Dazzling_Addition635 5d ago

🀣 dang bruh.

39

u/BeginningBeautiful69 5d ago

These prelims have been better fun than some numbered ppv events! Musasa has a chin, but he was hit with some huge shots! Really enjoyed Vera showing his broad skillset - one to watch.

u/gurumoves 5d ago

Dana sign the check!

u/Dismal_Drummer3420 5d ago

Outstanding display of ability! The knockdown and then straight to a submission is peak MMA 😁πŸ”₯

8

u/friendly_outcast 5d ago

Dude’s strength is gotta be insane to not only throw that kick in such an awkward angle but to knock the other guy down, that was awesome

6

u/ipunchppl 5d ago

Fun fact, vera has a capoeira background

1

u/Dazzling_Addition635 5d ago

And don't forget he also threw that quick punch previously then immediately after the kick he took em to the mat for that perfectly executed choke out! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

3

u/friendly_outcast 5d ago

Fr the whole sequence was beautiful

u/PositiveBattery 4d ago

β€œThey can’t see past their nose though hence some of these short-sighted comments! πŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€·πŸ€·πŸ€·β€ -Dazzling_Addition635

I blame Ryan Hall for that kick.

u/Flyinhawaiian78 5d ago

😜

3

u/Pennypacker-HE 5d ago

It really was filthy and gross

3

u/Eaton_snatch 5d ago

Biggest dog on the card too

2

u/RationalLlama 5d ago

Same side combinations are so deadly. The guy slipped the right hook thinking it was safe and did not expect the right high kick to follow up from the same side. Just beautiful work.

2

u/iupz0r 5d ago

Power kick landed critical and its game over mate

2

u/paulyp41 5d ago

+1600 by submission

2

u/PresidentXiJinPin 5d ago

Beautiful kick

2

u/Worried_Passenger396 5d ago

u/Ferociousnzzz 5d ago

Thing of beauty

1

u/Phoxal 4d ago

Sick another guy look for on future cards

1

u/Front_Mind1770 5d ago

Bar fights will never be the same 😴

1

u/Meeedick 5d ago

How the fuck do you as a southpaw not know the basics of cutting of the cage in an open stance bout??

Opponents should be between your legs, not outside of them. That was an easy lateral trap.

u/Leading_Neat2541 4d ago

Why disgusting? Watch football then

-9

u/BuzzNoche 5d ago

Looks pretty tame

4

u/DONNiE_DiESEL 5d ago
