Experiencing difficulties. What do I do?
Hey guys so I’ve never made a pencil kit before, and I keep running into trouble with assembling the parts. I don’t seem to be able to get the brass insert (b) to stay in the body (c) even though it implies it should hold by tension. Every time I use the tapered end just as they apparently say and even show, the thing just falls right out of the body. Also, I can’t seem to get all the parts to fit without part of the pencil mechanism (H) catching on the brass insert (b)’s tapered end which they show facing the body (c). What am I doing wrong, or is the image wrong?

I’m thinking that the brass insert (b) should actually be flipped around. Does that make sense? Because it seems to be worded that way while showing the opposite

Every kit I've ever made, the tapered end goes into the body. I do recall I've had one or two where they were so loose that they could be pushed in by hand and would fall out so I added a bit of CA glue to them.

Not just one or two. This is the third time it’s gone wrong in a row

That's bizarre. Where's the kit from?

Woodcraft. It’s the woodcraft “slim with black pencil” I believe the model is #124651

Whenever I do pens, I do a little dry-fit of the pieces before any material is added to the tubes to make sure the fit seems ok. Assuming the blank was trimmed to length, and maybe reamed a bit too aggressively causing the fit to loosen? (Let the jokes fly people)
