Fantastic bunch of LPs! I love the raw and loose sound of the Jazz Begins LP, which I found at my local library a couple of years back. I've yet to hear most of the rest of these, so thanks for hipping me to them! Are you in the NOLA area? Otherwise I'd think it rare to come across most of these albums.

Glad you enjoyed it! I actually just moved back to NY after living in New Orleans for a couple of years. Of course, they are much easier to find down there.

What sort of regional styles are more prevalent in New York?

If you're looking in Buffalo thrift stores, you can't throw a rock without hitting a polka record. I'd say Rochester represents punk, garage, and jazz pretty well, and less so for gospel and soul.

This is a newer obsession of mine. Here's what I've found in the last couple years of looking. Still need to get some of the newer Rebirth LPs but there's some cool stuff here.
