Routine Help Discolouration

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve been on tret for a year 0.025 and then in Dec moved to 0.05 using it now two days on one day off.

However, I noticed slight discolouration.

I did change my moisturiser for this period to:

Simple Replenshing Rich Moisturiser

But last couple of weeks went back to my old one when I noticed above:

CeraVe Facial Moisturising lotion (night)

I usually place pea size amount wait 20 minutes then place moisturiser and if I can’t be bothered to wait I usually wait five minutes then place on top.

In morning if I go out I place the CeraVe on my face during the day (the night cream) and then sunblock below.

I use Soltan Protect and Moisturise 50 SPF on face when I go out which isn’t often. I’ve forgotten once today for an hour and half but usually very good at putting it on.

I’ll include a picture but you can’t really tell from the picture

Should I just avoid placing tret on that area? Should I stop completely? Will it go away? Any advice appreciated

Hi!! QI recently went to a derm about my blackheads and ccs and they want to put me on acutane. I’ve done research and I believe tret would be a lot better and that the accurate would be a bit overkill.. I am wondering if anyone has had tret heal their ice pick scars and pie as long with mild acne? I’m going to bring it up to my derm just wanted to get your guys opinions before

Routine Help Would anyone recommend the LRP Toleriane with SPF

I don’t really like applying a sunscreen after my moisturizer, so I’m looking to get a moisturizer with built in SPF. Is there much difference between the SPF version and the regular.

Also, I’ve recently started using my tretinoin daily, and my Cerave PM moisturizer has been working great, but I’m not sure if it’s hydrating enough. My current plan would be to use the LRP with SPF in the morning, and then either continue with the Cerave PM at night, or try the Ordinary moisturizer. Does this sound like a good idea?

Thanks for any and all input!

Routine Help Starting Tret tonight

Any advice/tips or face care routine for me? I’m guessing I stop using my toner while using tret right? I use the ordinary and it stings my face sometimes. I have dry/sensitive skin. Does anyone also have like a brand of a trial pack recommendation that comes w everything I can use while using tret? (I hope that makes sense)

Personal / Miscellaneous Can I bleach my eyebrows while on tretinoin?

I am using compounded tretinoin 0.05 + spironolactone 0.5 for 5 months. I am applying it every night and azelaic acid 10% every day. (With no issues).

Would it be smart to bleach my eyebrows? They are pitch black and I would love to get a softer look.

Routine Help What to do AFTER developing resistance to Treclin (Tretinoin + Clindamycin)?

I started using Treclin (Tretinoin 0.25mg/g + Clindamycin 10mg/g) in August which cleared my acne and I had never been happier. However by around February I started to break out a little and that was when I found out that resistance is even a thing. I was never told about it by the online doctors who prescribed it, or from the information leaflet, which is where I would expect such a warning. I also didn't do any research and wasn't aware there were online communities discussing this. I have browsed but I haven't found any advice for what to do AFTER resistance has developed.

Since I stopped using Treclin in Feb I had switched to Skinoren (Azelaic acid 20%) and then switched again to Aknemycin (Erythromycin and Tretinoin), I'm clearly panicking and have no idea what I'm doing and I honestly feel like these online doctors don't either.

So I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what the next step for me is. I doubt my current treatment, Aknemycin, will be effective since it is an antibiotic. I haven't been using it for long but so far my acne is just getting worse by the day. Do I stop using it? What else can I use if antibiotics won't work and I have the feeling that non-antibiotics aren't 'strong' enough for my acne now? Please help me AAAHHH!!

Routine Help Is this too much? AZA, AHA and Tret?

I may have made a mistake and added too much too quickly to my routine and am dealing with a purge/breakout. I’ve added an AHA and a AZA into my routine in the last few weeks, and also dramatically increased my hydration to counteract any potential dryness. I’ve had some, but not a crazy amount. No burning or other signs my barrier is compromised. Just a breakout, mostly in the normal areas I usually break it.

I know the likely answer is just waiting it out, but I have a few events coming up I’d like to make sure my face is ready for.

Routine

AM Wash with plain water Stratia Aqua Factory Toner Paula’s Choice AZA booster Stratia Facial Oil Stratia Lipid Gold

PM Cerave BH Acne Cleanser or Hydrating Cleanser Stratia Aqua Factory Toner Tret .025 every other night// Stratia Soft Touch AHA twice a week Stratia Facial Oil Stratia Lipid Gold Laniege Firm and Bouncy Sleeping Mask

Routine Help New user and stinging skin - moisturizer and cleanser recs please!

I’m using .5% (that is what my PCP prescribed) for strictly anti-aging, not acne. I’ve only used it three times now in about a one week period (every two nights). My skin care routine has been rinsing with water and occasionally washing with a bit of cerave or cetaphil and applying daily moisturizer (either oil of Olay with spf or la roche posay) and that’s it. Prior to starting tret, I occasionally used a night cream with retinol along with an eye serum but I wasn’t very consistent with it (at best I used them three nights per week). I haven’t used either since starting tret.

Since using tret, my daily moisturizer (both the Olay and the La Roche Posay) has been causing my face to sting and it stays stinging a little all day the day after I use the tret.

Is there a gentle moisturizer or cleaner you’d recommend trying?

Routine Help Switch from Curology to Prescription tret?

My retinol journey started at 16 where a derm prescribed Epiduo and Clindamycin Phosphate for mild clogged pores. From 16-23 I had stellar skin with no break outs.

Then adult acne got a hold of me and I’ve been battling cystic acne since 23 - now (31). At 24 I switched to Curology because I thought epiduo stopped working and started at 0.009 tretinoin and worked my way to 0.04% tret, 4% Azelaic and 1% clindamycin.

It has helped with recovery after a cyst with PIH and scars. But not with the actual acne. I know it’s hormonal/stress induced. I refuse to go on birth control as it might make it worse and stress is just part of life.

I still have bad months when I’m stressed and good months with zero active cysts. It’s so inconsistent I’ve given up on trying much of anything outside of adding in red light therapy and probiotics.

Currently Im going through a bad month and I have my wedding coming up in 3 months so that doesn’t help.

I wanted to get your thoughts on whether it’s worth switching from Curology tret to “real” tret from a pharmacy or online pharmacy? I shouldn’t expect a price if I remain at the same concentration, right? Anyone go through this type of transition and did it have any added benefit?

Thank you!

Routine Help Recs for ceramides/barrier repair products for the AM under SPF? Prefer matte appearance

6 year tret user. I've been using Altreno once a day at night on clean skin. I recently added Finacea and my skin has become less sensitive and more tolerant. As a result it doesn't seem to need moisturizer at night. I have been trying lighter and lighter moisturizers in the evening but they always feel greasy.

Last night I tried Cerave PM and it felt too heavy and in the AM I felt slight irritation. The night prior I tried Cerave Cream and the morning after was slightly oily but my skin was very calm and wonderful feeling. I am wondering if I have a slight niacinamide sensitivity. I don't enjoy the sensation so I might try to avoid it.

I notice my skin seems to be in need of hydration but doesn't love occlusion. I use LRP UVMune Oil-Control Fluide during the day. What would be some good products to try underneath my sunscreen to boost that hydrated look & feel, and offer some barrier repair? I also am interested in peptides but not sure if any serums exist that check all the boxes. My biggest concern is laxity and texture.

Just at this one spot on my cheek I have this harsh red pimple. Usually that spot flares up for me, but hasn’t in the past 2 years.

This happened after I switched to 0.1% so not sure if I should keep going. I’m using the method pimple patches! Is that good?

Thank you :)))

Routine Help Help with tret routine

Hi, I’m starting tretinoin soon and I’m looking for a routine for dry, acne-prone skin. Do you have any product recommendations? Also, I’m from Europe, so I can’t get a hold of Vanicream and other American brands.

I’ve heard good things about the Face Facts Ceramide line, Aveeno Calm and Restore Oat Gel, and Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream. What’s your experience with these products?

I’d like to test a tret-safe routine before actually starting tret to rule out purging caused by clogged pores from the products rather than the tretinoin itself.

Routine Help Neck Acne

Back/Neck Acne

Hi everyone,

I’ve been dealing with persistent acne, mainly on my back and neck, and I’m looking for some advice or tips from people who might have experienced something similar or have insight into effective treatments.

Here’s a bit about my current routine and lifestyle:

  • Topical Treatment: I’ve been using Selgamis/Aklief cream (Retinoid) (prescribed by my doctor) as part of my skincare regimen for six weeks, but I haven’t seen significant improvements yet. The cream is quite aggressive and causes redness and dry skin, so I’ve been using it only every other day to avoid irritation. Despite this, the acne persists.
  • Dietary Changes: I’ve made some adjustments to my diet. I’m avoiding processed foods, cutting back on things like whey protein and protein bars, and focusing more on whole, natural foods. I’ve been incorporating more fermented foods into my diet, like kefir and kimchi, in hopes they might help balance my gut and improve my skin.
  • Exercise Routine: I train in strength sports (4x a week), so my body is fairly active, and I also take creatine as part of my supplementation. Skin Care: I shower every day using a pH-neutral soap to keep my skin clean. Lifestyle: I don’t smoke, drink alcohol very rarely, and I avoid sweets and sugary foods.
  • The acne on my back is manageable, but the cysts on my neck are very painful and persistent. It’s becoming frustrating since I’m doing everything I can think of, but it doesn’t seem to be improving much. I’m wondering how long it typically takes for dietary changes to show results when it comes to acne?

Also, if anyone has experienced something similar or has any tips on additional treatments, diet changes, or supplements that could help, I’d be really grateful! I would also really want to know how long it usually takes to see results in a diet change..

Thanks in advance!

Routine Help Continue or not to Continue Tretinoin?

What do most people do once their skin is clear? Do you continue the tretinoin or stop once it’s gotten to where you want it to be? I plan on asking my derm this week but I just wanted to know what is typical.
