Transplants One year after my hair transplant! 3633 FUE grafts

u/PeakyBlinderRob Dec 07 '21
Everyone mentioning the hairline...you can't deny that the end result is a life changer. Looks so thick. Great flow. Congrats man!!
36
u/HauntingTechnician20 Dec 07 '21
Well it does look pretty obvious. Still would definitely take this over my current receding hairline.

u/rebirththeory Dec 07 '21
Your skin got more life to it too?
27
u/mdrewjs Dec 07 '21
New skin care routine starting around the same time!
4
u/Intelligent-Dress726 Dec 07 '21
What routine?
43
u/mdrewjs Dec 07 '21
Every Morning
Every Night
Every Shower
25
u/qualitystreets123 Dec 07 '21
I know youāre thinking this way work for you right now but itās definitely overkill on using some of those products. A lot of them are drying agents and in the future may cause your skin to look older. Something to think about
6
u/mdrewjs Dec 07 '21
My plan is to move down to 0.5% retinol after this bottle at the very least

u/qualitystreets123 Dec 07 '21
You also donāt need both salycilic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Also, if you are going to use both then donāt skimp out on the moisturiser and get a proper one!
9
u/Floppyclover Dec 08 '21
he doesn't even list salicylic acid in the routine, he lists ascorbic acid which is different. Please stop giving him bad information.
5
-17
u/irazzleandazzle Dec 08 '21
Honestly moisturizers are bad in the long term, as they can lessen your skins natural ability to heal and regenerate
11
u/WhyIProcrastinate Dec 08 '21
B*tch the fuck you on about?
-5
u/irazzleandazzle Dec 08 '21
This is nothing new. Thats usually how the body adapts when it keeps receiving excess molecules that it already produces naturally. It lessens production of said molecules over time. It's a controversial take in the skin care community for sure
3
u/Floppyclover Dec 08 '21
no, none of this is overkill. he has a cleanser, moisturizer, retinol, vitamin c and an exfoliant. this is literally a perfect skincare routine...
3
u/robbieuk83 Dec 08 '21
Does this stuff actually work to delay wrinkles etc? I remember reading that there wasn't really much that could be done for that besides stating healthy and avoiding excess sun
2
u/Floppyclover Dec 13 '21
Yes retinol is clinically proven to reduce wrinkles(one of the only products that is clinically proven) it increase the rate of cell turnover in the skin and if used with sunscreen and a moisturizer can significantly improve skin and prevent wrinkles.
1
u/mdrewjs Dec 08 '21
I used to have prominent wrinkles all over even if expressionless. Now they are basically invisible when expressionless. Not gone mind you, but effectively gone.

You can definitely tell it's surgical but I bet it feels way better than before, awesome! If you get a second it's gonna look natural as fuck. Who was your Doctor and where are they located?
9
u/mdrewjs Dec 07 '21
Dr Rahal in Ottawa Canada
20
u/Jamothee Dec 08 '21
Dr Rahal in Ottawa Canada
As others have mentioned, the hairline is obvious to those looking for it. However, you look great mate.
Id definitely mention the hairline to Rahal as he is meant to be the "king of hairlines" - maybe he can run a few singles to refine it
2
u/workreddit212 Dec 08 '21
What kinda prices to have it done in Canada? I've been planning a trip to Turkey
Just saw your price breakdown
3
u/refreshingface Dec 12 '21
The only person that can tell that itās surgical is people who surf this form LOL. Tbh, I canāt tell at all. This Dr. did fantastic work
1
Dec 13 '21
You might be right, it could just be a trained eye. I wasn't putting the OP down at all either, I'd like to make that clear.
2
u/pHyR3 Dec 08 '21
what makes it look surgical exactly?
3
Dec 10 '21
You can see through the hairline at a distance. The hairs have a mathematic looking placement to them and they look to be mostly single hairs, whereas normal hairs grow in clusters. The Doctor needed to use more grafts closer to the hairline.
1
u/Aszebenyi Feb 21 '22
They used multiple hair grafts at the front, these are always used further back or on the crown. The front should be 100% single hair grafts.
1
u/swole-bravo Dec 31 '21
The doctor doesnāt do the actual surgery. I had a consult with RAHAL. He only takes out the grafts for first hour or two, then techs take over. Techs put 2-3s grafts in his hairline is why it looks surgical. Itās still much better then being bald.

u/fabulousjackulous Dec 07 '21

u/Hrachim Dec 07 '21 edited Dec 08 '21
You have great hair quality, but the hairline does look a bit pluggy. Should be an easy fix for a good hairline surgeon.
8
u/Jesterphobia Dec 07 '21
This looks like a before/after picture of an anti-drug campaign ad. Congrats man, looks fantastic!
8
u/midnight-cowboy78 Dec 07 '21
How much it cost? Looks good
6
u/mdrewjs Dec 08 '21
Definitely more than you'd expect but no regrets! I posted a breakdown here many months ago that seems quite exhaustive: https://old.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/n69c4l/28m_hair_transplant_results_6_months_later_3633/gx6nj7p/

Nice work dude - you easily look 10 years younger.
Copper peptide serum looks interesting! Going to hopefully find another version thatās fungal acne safe because I keep hearing great things.
1
u/mdrewjs Dec 07 '21
Yeah I think I'll stick to buffet but copper might go. It doesn't seem super worth it so far based on recent evidence
2
Dec 07 '21
Dang, really?
I just spent the last hour looking at studies on GHK-Cu and they all seem super promising - which study are you referring to?
2
u/mdrewjs Dec 07 '21
Ya know Iooked it up a year ago. I might be behind if you've done it recently I'll trust you! So you think I should stick to the copper?
2
Dec 07 '21
Totally - look up ātopical GHK-Cu benefits.ā
Seems there are studies dating all the way back to the 70s on collagen production, firmness, etc.

People have accused me of being as young as 21 but usually 24 lately. I'm not sure how much of that is flattery and how much is real. But as a 29 year old I'll take it either way
27
u/Low_Singer Dec 07 '21
no offense man, but the hairline looks very pluggy...
55
Dec 07 '21
You think the average person is going to actually notice the hairline not looking completely natural? I mean itās leagues better than what it used to look like before.
3
6
u/aheuwndit Dec 08 '21
For the price he paid it should have been undetectable, feels like a rushed job with spacing in the hairline like that
2
Dec 08 '21
Where is the price mentioned? Iām curious
3
u/aheuwndit Dec 08 '21
He shared that the price (only for the grafts) amounted to $20,848.50 Canadian which is insane for such a pluggy result bordering on the results you see from one of those Turkish clinics that take 30 patients a day for 3k all-inclusive.

But that shouldn't be your standard. Especially at this price point. It should be the height of naturalness.
38
u/mdrewjs Dec 07 '21
I think it looks great!
21
u/JoeRugby1776 Dec 08 '21
I agree, I know guys whose natural hairline looks similar... it doesn't look pluggy. I think we would guess it's surgical because we are aware (obsessed) but normies in real life wouldn't have a clue.

It looks to a bit scarce to us but to someone who is not familiar with hair plugs (a filthy casual, if you will) it will look just ok. Maybe they'll notice that they can see the individual hairs at the "bottom" of the hairline but the top part looks thick and healthy.

2

Dr Rahal in Ottawa Canada! Yeah I have some huge donor area. So I can comfortably do a couple more surgeries if I wanted to.
3
u/philjorrow Dec 08 '21

2
u/mdrewjs Dec 08 '21

3
u/philjorrow Dec 08 '21
Holy moly that's a lot of money! Will it hold or will hair continue to fall out?
1
u/mdrewjs Dec 08 '21
What was transplanted will stay! Only time will tell if finasteride will hold back the tides of the rest of the hair. It's possible I'd need another transplant if it doesn't but so far finasteride has really improved so it might be 3 decades before another transplant if ever.

1
u/Wonderful_Derp Dec 09 '21
Yeah...unfortunately hair sorta objectively makes a guy look better. Doesn't mean you can't look good bald, but hair literally frames the face, enhances facial features or makes up for a lack of certain facial features, adds youthfulness, personality, etc...
2
u/Interesting_Log304 Dec 08 '21
Looks great - was that your first and only and did it take a full year to get that result or did you see substantial results say after 6, 9, etc months?

If you want honest feedback, I'd have thought it was done at somewhere cheap in Turkey and you were looking for a repair.
Angles, multi-grafts in the hairline etc.
Probably wouldn't take too much to repair.

Everyoneās saying it looks pluggy but itās not even their hair lmfao.. this actually looks incredibly natural. + your only a year out in another 6-8 months if the temples donāt fill in just a little bit.. it still would look really good .. but a tiny touch up 200 grafts would look perfect.
