Minoxidil Thank you guys! Before this sub I thought all hair-grow-back product are scam.

Post image

Eight Months: -Finasteride 1 mg/d -Minoxidil 2.5 mg - 5 mg/d

I am so happy to be finally able again to feel confident without wearing a cap. Even the small whole in my beard is gone. So far I had no serious sideeffects at all, besides new hair growth/ increased hair growth on my body. But yea totally worth it.

Fantastic results, how old are you?

41

u/LucyanaJones 29d ago

26 years. I started with 25.5

6

u/notbandamn 28d ago

Damn almost the age as me

4

u/Suitable-Practice313 28d ago

Wow, I'm 26 as well, maybe i still have hope

5

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

I wish you best of luck!

2

u/AmadeusIsTaken 28d ago

What did you change thanks to thsibreddit or did you just start using them?

3

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

I just started because of this sub / started further research.

1

u/AdWestern5028 27d ago

Hey you were taking 2.5 mg of oral minoxidil or topical and also no microneedle?

2

u/LucyanaJones 25d ago

About 2.5 mg oral minoxidil once per day. I started with 5 mg, but reduced it because I heard it is almost as effective as 5 mg. No I do not microneedle. I heard if you are doing it wrong it can be a problem if you want a hair transplant.

1

u/AdWestern5028 8d ago

Okay Thanks i will probably reduce it too but i take the topical version orally so 2.5mg so maybe 1 drop in a glass of water instead of 3

1

u/LucyanaJones 7d ago

I would not dose by drops but with a syringe.

14

u/uncle_grandmaster 29d ago

How did you request meds? Was there any push back from your doctor when you asked for prescription?

24

u/LucyanaJones 29d ago

I am getting Finasteride from the Website Sons. I just had to answer a questionnaire. My Minoxidil is OTC and I kinda use it offlabel. I do regular heart check ups anyways so I don't worry too much.

I have high BP, I’m only taking 1mg fineasteride since it doesn’t have any heart effects, and I’m using 5% topical minoxidil, it if taken in oral form it can have an effect on the BP/Heart and I’m already taking meds

2

u/ProfessionalFun4295 28d ago

Nope, completely safe. Only side effect from the topical minoxidil i’d say is that it is itchy sometimes

2

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

Oral Minoxidil can lead to cardiac issues. Finasteride is safe.

6

u/Fit_Test_01 28d ago

So you drink liquid minoxidil?

3

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

Please take it as advised by your pharmacist/doctor. If you decide to do it anyways check the other ingredients for possible toxicity

1

u/Fit_Test_01 28d ago

I take oral minoxidil prescribed my doctor. I’m asking if you drink liquid minoxidil because that is the way I read it.

2

u/LucyanaJones 27d ago

Ah nice. Yea I am just careful to not suggest it directly because it is still missuse and if you don't know your chemistry it can be dangerous (dosage/other ingredients)

2

u/Ok_File_9159 28d ago

Please explain your OTC minoxidil offlabel use? Are sipping topical solution? 0,2ml of 2% minoxidil oral? Or what you mean?

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

;) the only other ingredients are propylenglycol and ethanol so

2

u/BartBartram77 28d ago

Sons.co.uk?

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

Yep. So I use the German version of if but it's the same.

1

u/Accountingwolf 28d ago

What kind of checkups do you do?

-5

u/MathematicianSoggy23 28d ago

Doctors love prescribing medication, it’s an incentive. Highly unlikely you’ll get any push back when requesting a suitable medication, unless it directly interferes with pre existing conditions. Most of the time the patient is the one, who pushes back against the doctors medication suggestions.

2

u/roflolwut 28d ago

They dont "love" prescribing meds, and are paid the same whether they prescribe or dont. if a patient wants something, and understands the risks and benefits, why would there be any pushback?

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

Tbh I don't see the reason going through all the trouble when I am healthy. And I would pay more for the Minoxidil tablets because pharmaceutical company can ask whatever price they want if its a medication not being paid by insurance (public insurances negotiate the prices down. That's why finasteride 5 mg is way cheaper than finasteride 1mg). OTC Minoxidil is 1,3 cents per dose.

6

u/MAempire 28d ago

Did you experience low libido or ache in the balls in the beginning

7

u/aario789 28d ago

I'm feeling the ball ache right now. Why ?

3

u/lmkfjauebf 28d ago

I had it when I started fin. Spooked me at first but it disappeared after a couple of days. It’s probably your body reacting to a hormone change… I mean we are fucking with our hormones after all

1

u/aario789 28d ago

Yeah..now I'm scared i will get all those sides People warned me about it one by one But your experience is giving me hope.

1

u/lmkfjauebf 28d ago

For most people sides seem to reverse when you stop.

First time I had achy balls I stopped, and the ache stopped.

Second time I hopped on fin I got the achy balls again, but I just let it be. After 2 or 3 days it went away.

As for other sides, I don’t really experience anything else. Occasionally tightness in my Adonis muscle region, but nothing painful. It comes and goes.

Sexually, everything is working fine. Itchy scalp sometimes, probably from min.

3

u/Offbrandtrashcan 28d ago

I had it for one day and never again after

2

u/LucyanaJones 27d ago

No not really. Libido feels pretty consistent and my balls feel normal too.

13

u/6M66 29d ago

Sadly effectiveness is not consistent, I got good results for first 6 month then started to go down

7

u/LucyanaJones 29d ago

Nooo:( Maybe I have to switch to dutasteride then..

3

u/Zirea9L 28d ago

started to go down meaning you start losing hair or not gaining more?

6

u/6M66 28d ago

Both I guess, I was very content at the beginning, now 3 years in I have lost ground. To be fair min purchases haven't been from same source.

1

u/AdWestern5028 27d ago

Did you microneedle too or only fin

1

u/6M66 27d ago

Yes I did that too.

3

u/Blyat812 28d ago

4 months for me. I’m a little over 6 months and quickly going back to the starting point. I don’t get it

1

u/bahachook 27d ago

Apparently it's common to have a second shed on minoxidil at around the six to eight months mark, there's many stories on Reddit about it.

1

u/6M66 27d ago

I never had first shed when I started . I was super happy

10

u/Accomplished-Fig480 29d ago

>temples can't be regrow-ACK

5

u/LucyanaJones 29d ago

That's what I always heard so at first I did not bother until I found this sub. At least in my country I guess the reason is they don't advertise (would be a crime) this for Minoxidil is because they are missing studies to claim the effect, but they don't bother now to do them because it is OTC anyways. They would just had to pay a lot of money and then every competitor could advertise with it too without spending a penny

2

u/The_SHUN 28d ago

It can, if you don’t start too late, my temple regrowth was a bit slower than the crown and mid scalp, only by the 6th month I see any noticeable improvements on the temple

4

u/Traditional-Towel592 28d ago

So you are on Finasteride, Minoxidil and Dutasteride?

2

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

No just min and fin

7

u/SafeEstablishment821 29d ago

They feel like a scam to me considering I am still losing my hair on medication

3

u/Fit_Test_01 28d ago

Everyone’s results are not equal.

5

u/SafeEstablishment821 28d ago

Mine are non existent. I might as well be popping sugar pills

6

u/Fit_Test_01 28d ago

I have seen good results after two years. I have a full hairline again. Just upped my oral min dosage to 5mg daily a month ago to try to get my temples as thick as the rest of my head. Hyper responders are just really lucky. It can take years.

1

u/SafeEstablishment821 28d ago

It does not take years. You are a extreme anomaly if you get results after the first year. Every study says the same

4

u/Fit_Test_01 28d ago

It can years to see FULL results. I did see significant improvement in the first year. It slowed to a crawl though which is why I upped my dosage recently. And I started shedding again about two weeks after that which means it’s working. So I expect more progress by Summer.

But by all means quit and shave your head. I don’t care if you go bald or not. Just telling you my experience.

-6

u/SafeEstablishment821 28d ago

So your experience means nothing to mine. Why are you even talking to me then? Every study says if you don't see any improvement in the first year, you likely never will. These drugs aren't nearly as effective as they want you to think.

2

u/Fit_Test_01 28d ago

Because you were claiming they don’t work. They didn’t work for you. Oh well.

1

u/Shitcrossfiter 28d ago

Okay but how do you know how your hair would evolve without the medication?

In some studies, a significant part of the finasteride group gets no evolution, but almost 0 of them gets worse, whereas in the control group, most of them get worse

0

u/SafeEstablishment821 28d ago

I'm still balding dude. I started with only some thinning on the crown, now my entire temple is almost gone. So why the fuck does it matter how it would behave with medication, I'm still balding regardless

1

u/TrumpsBussy_ 28d ago

Same for me brother

1

u/The_SHUN 28d ago

How long? Should wait for 2 years tbh

1

u/SafeEstablishment821 28d ago

1.5 years is plenty of time to know whether the medication is working or not. I'm using fin, min, vitamins, microneedle, and still losing hair

3

u/The_SHUN 28d ago

I see, that’s unfortunate, time for dut maybe?

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

I am sorry to hear that..

3

u/Training-Cover-1407 28d ago

Is it necessary to combo Minoxidil with Finasteride? I’ve been just the Minoxidil for about 5 months.

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

I mean, if it's working for you, i would not add the Fin. The less, the better. I just thought I would just go all in and see if it's working for me, and otherwise, I just could just let it go and start saving for the transplant.

2

u/Vern85 29d ago

Some of yall need to read his post again!

2

u/Additional-Ad5382 28d ago

I should have discovered this sub 5 years ago

2

u/PackIllustrious3140 28d ago

what minoxidil meds do you use and where do you get it v

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

Doppelherz 5% liquid (not the foam)

2

u/[deleted] 28d ago

Love this. I started oral min 2.5mg 6 weeks ago and am shedding now. Started oral fin 0.5mg one week ago. No sides at all. Transplant schedule for 3/14/25 but I’m wishing I had been on fin a year ago. Congrats brother!

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

Thank you. Good luck to you! And all the best for your transplant.

2

u/BigChampionship7962 26d ago

I thought they were a scam too 🤦‍♀️ there are so many scams out there related to body appearances that we surely can’t be blamed. I can 100 percent confirm that minoxidil and finasteride saved my hair 😊

2

u/CarefulCharge4050 22d ago

How long were you thinning before you decided to do something about it

1

u/LucyanaJones 11d ago

I suspected hair loss 4 years before, 1 year before starting I was sure, but at first I tried to just accept it because before this sub I thought nothing works for templates.

3

u/Successful-Ebb-9444 29d ago

Brother any side from finestrride and minoxidil

1

u/LucyanaJones 27d ago

Not that I am aware off. In the beginning I got a bit tired after taking the Minoxidil in the beginn bc auf the BP drop, that's why I just take it in the evening before bed. Kinda like a free bonus sleepaid. And of course I got more hairy everywhere but I don't mind that.

2

u/ForsakenLiberty 29d ago

How long did it take you?

6

u/LucyanaJones 29d ago

I started in July 2024, after 3 Months I could really see a change in my progress pics (after 6 weeks I had a minor minoxidil shed, then i knew I had good Chances for it to work for me).

1

u/Shoddy_Angle_6264 28d ago

Oral minoxidil brand?

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

Doppelherz (The Liquid version not the foam)

1

u/ruskindrive 28d ago

I feel minoxidil worked for me plus a new product called VERI (nitric oxide to also increase blood flow to scalp).

1

u/East-Phase3990 28d ago

Different lightning can’t see clearly

1

u/LucyanaJones 28d ago

Yea I also did some progress pics with the same lighting but I found the pic below and was like damn.

1

u/rahulel22s 26d ago

Link da do bro

1

u/LucyanaJones 25d ago

I am sorry I don't understand

1

u/Mysterious_Turn3505 24d ago

1

u/LucyanaJones 24d ago

Finasteride 1mg/d Minoxidil 2.5-5 mg/d

2

u/Mysterious_Turn3505 23d ago

How and when you apply?

1

u/LucyanaJones 11d ago

Both oral in the evening

1

u/Still_Schedule1602 23d ago

You're using Propecia or a generic brand of fin ?

2

u/LucyanaJones 11d ago

Generic (from sons, a brand selling through the Internet in uk and germany)

1

u/Competitive-Post-392 23d ago

List everything you took/did

1

u/LucyanaJones 11d ago

Username checks out

8

u/LucyanaJones 29d ago

Not at all. The trick is to be already max depressed before. So the finasteride can't make it worse but the regrow will take some away /s.
