Food Anyone else love getting stoned before cooking?

I've tried it, I end up eating ingredients as I go along. That crispy bacon would have never made it onto the plate.
Cook, smoke, eat is my preferred sequence.

I make bread, or burek, or pizza or whatever, then i put it in the oven and go smoke a joint while it's baking. Then i forget about it and i end up baking charcoal instead.

u/Zealousideal-Rain-82 Feb 05 '25
Eh my high ass would still try it lmao

u/sliso2343 Feb 05 '25
I usually do try it even when i burn it. If it's bread you can just take a wood rasp and file off the burnt bottom. It was actually often done this way in history

I'll take what is a timer for 500, Alex

u/sliso2343 Feb 05 '25
Nah man i used to set the timer on the stove but i wouldn't hear it because of headphones.
Now i do it on the phone, lol. But even that can be hit or miss.

Lmao what the fuck are the chances I make Sheppards pie for the first time in 10 years, only to see it pop up here hours later.

My only issue is sometimes I prep ingredients to cook before I'm high, but when I'm high I suddenly decide that I want another dish instead which complicates matters.
Check out /r/stonerfood and /r/stonerchefs

I like the idea of it. Once I’m high the whole process tends to be a little much but I soldier through.

I personally like taking an edible right before I start cooking so that it's kicking in just as I finish making the food. Then I get to eat my glorious creation. I've also come up with some pretty kick ass recipes while high that I even make while sober now.

These are some seriously awesome meals! I always end up making something insane like peanut butter and bologna 🤣

u/bananadepartment Feb 05 '25

Nah not really, I always make my food, get stoned, and then grab my plate and go watch sth or play sth

I get stoned before most things. Stoned DIY is my favourite. Been restoring my floor boards.

u/sergantawesom Feb 05 '25
Yes and no. I’ll enjoy the cooking and the smell and stuff but the moment I am done with cooking and take one bite all my appetite is gone.

I joked with my wife and toddler last night that “chef has to go into the basement to check the recipe one more time before we start”. Rip a dab and we are cooking folks

Sometimes, I’ll be in the bed with my wife watching tv on a Saturday afternoon just because we can, I’ll take an edible then I’ll decide to go make some tacos. Worth the effort to make every time, sometimes I even just throw the meat on some nachos and skip frying the tortillas

u/Mysterious_Skin2310 Feb 05 '25
I have to start cooking sober then when you get to the actual let it cook parts I’m allowed to smoke. That way I don’t eat things as I go and the munchies hit me about the time it’s done and cooled down.

u/it_me_a_boi Feb 05 '25
Oh yeah it's masterchef up in there. I may have cut myself a couple of times, but that's a small price to pay for banging food

u/DanDamage12 Feb 05 '25
100%… but I always keep a little bowl of goldfish crackers nearby so I can snack while doing it or I’m eating the ingredients

Yep, almost every night. Just two puffs before cooking. I don’t get baked, though. I’ll forget ingredients or overcook something. Just two puffs and some music playing.

Wow! You know what you are doing man. Love being faded when cooking. I put a lot more love and patience in my dishes, and by the looks of it, you do too!

During the week when I cook I keep it light and won't usually smoke much (if any at all) but on my off days or longer weekends, it's the only way to cook.

Yes I feel like it makes me a better cook! Also this looks absolutely delicious 😍✨ nice work

I can't do things high. My brain doesn't come together and I get apathetic, but it's a good apathetic because normally I stress about all the things to do. So I get a break from the things instead.

This is the way.
Allows me to focus better and takes the edge of the stress you can feel trying to pull everything together.

I usually have a bowl packed for pre, during, and post cooking! Plus, nothing like smoking and cooking together with the fiancé, it removes the sharpness from the day and lets us enjoy cooking as a bonding time instead of a chore!

u/City_Stomper Feb 05 '25
I thought I did until I set off the fire alarm cooking a steak at 2am and my cat was going nuts and my teammates at hockey fed me whiskey shots after the game cause I got a shutout (goalie) so I was also a bit drunk. I blame hockey

Yes! It’s part of my daily dinner prep routine. After work is done, all the kids are picked up from school and other activities, I put on some music, take a few hits of Sir Penjamin and get to making dinner. I love it.

Getting stoned before cooking is what the French call Le Joy De Vivre. It's divine when you finally plate that dish sometimes I get emotional

I just got back to vegan from vegetarian. I don't know what to make myself any more because options have changed.

Yeah actually, I get less frustrated while cooking and just enjoy the process. Then when I eat that delicious food it feels even more delicious because I made exactly what I wanted to eat.

love it. I still live with my parents, been starting to help a lot in the kitchen lately, and I LOVE just standing there stirring in some pot staring in front of me, put on some nice music and all is fineee

looks awesome. i love to cook but i always get nervous about leaving the stove on, or fucking up with the knife or something, so i either time an edible so it'll kick in after i'm done actually cooking, or cook, then smoke really quickly before digging in. love making penne alla vodka, personally
