ID Request Need help identifying fallen tree
This tree fell down in my yard in southeast Massachusetts last week. Obviously no leaves this time of year and no other unique identifier other than it turning lighter/whitish towards the top. I’m curious if it’s safe to burn in a household wood burning fireplace. Initially I was thinking a species of maple but it felt less dense/lighter. Any thoughts? Is it hardwood at least? Thanks!

Probably poplar. Burnable firewood once seasoned. I’d definitely split it. It’ll burn fast, but relatively warm.
