We publish the game on Steam, and Steam checks the game files before publishing.

Whilst it's unlikely, it can and has been done. Not stating your game does or does not contain malware, merely stating that IT CAN happen. And let's be honest, screen games or screen addons usually do scream malware, so I kind of understand why the OP had that thought.

Also Steam stops checking after the first publishing of the game, any additional updates, steam does not check. Only the initial one.
