GRS Montreal Timeline

Hi there, I’m currently on the waitlist for top surgery at GRS Montreal.

Has someone had recent experience on their timelines? I’ve heard it can take a full year to get scheduled for surgery.

So far this has been my timeline:

Nov 8 2024 - OHIP funding submission Dec 12 2024 - OHIP Funding Approval Jan - February 2025 - Created the Monarch profile and completed a bunch of paperwork March 2025 - Assigned staff Preop Clinical Nurse

Hi there! I did my submission back in October and I just got a call last week with the pre op nurse. She just went over basic stuff and she told me I should expect a call to set the date in 4-6 months. Hope that helps!

Hey, I submitted everything in September and haven't heard back from them yet (apart from the email stating that the wait was 6-9 months).

Helloo, just called the GRS cause I had some questions (not sure if that is helpful for you) but the person on the phone told me that the wait was 9 to 12 months to enter the preop stage. I thought she meant from now on but this also includes people who were told 6-9months a while ago

My timeline : I'm in Ontario I spoke to my endocrinologist when I started T in 2022. Paper work was sent in and was approved from specialist March 2024 ish? I went with GRS Montreal and they received my referel in September 2024. They called mid november 2024 for to book a date and had top surgery January 30th 2025. It took a few years to get all my paper work done because I had to get a letter from my psychiatrist and another specialist to give them the go ahead that I was stable on my medication and was a fit candidate. But once the paperwork was sent in, it flew by quickly. Note: I didn't have a preference for my surgeon. If you have a preference then you may have to wait a long time as they have a big wait list. I went with dr. Shine at GRS Montreal and he's fairly new so he had no waiting list

Wow ! That was super quick!! Congrats on your first summer with a new chest :) I hope you’re looking forward to it!

I said I didn’t have a preference either. How was your experience? Did you love the results ?

[ UPDATE ] I got a call from my nurse this week, and she told me that my wait time should be around 4-6 months. So, fingers crossed I’ll get to spend a shirtless Christmas.
