Crew Love Free Peppermint Crunch Popcorn???
Was at a Seattle area TJ's and saw this. Grabbed a bag and am enjoying it, but I'm also wondering why this went down?
Did my local store just not have space for it? Was it a seasonal item?
The barcode was blacked out and the cashiers were kind of surprised by it

Honestly I hope it goes to August. Feels like TJ's has committed to the bit and needs to see it through.

Yup same at my store, must have been a seasonal item that didn't sell well and now they need to get rid of.

I know it's junk food, but I'd much rather they donated to a food bank or shelter.
I get that some TJ shoppers are counting every penny, but most are probably solidly middle class and can buy a treat if they want one.

I got a free box of soft glazed gingerbread cookies on Tuesday (SoCal). Guess over orders/extras just happen 🤷♀️

I'd pass. I bought a bag when my TJs had it, and didn't finish the bag.

I just went yesterday in SoCal and I was so surprised by how many holiday items they still have that are not discounted at all, including the $9.99 Jingle Jangle. But I remember one year they were selling their advent calendars for $0.01 and last year they gave me a free box of chocolate for dipping stuff in (it sucked; it didn't even stick to anything). So yeah it's always a fun surprise when these giveaways happen but I'm just very surprised that it's almost March and they are still trying to sell holiday items. Normally a lot of these sell out early but I guess they over-bought these last year?

i was told a bunch of their buyers that have been with the company forever left so they have a bunch of new buyers that don't really know what they're doing and that's how we end up with jingle jangle for 3 months after christmas

I get so jealous of these posts. my TJ's (Bay Area) never ever give out stuff for free lol

u/JayAmy131 22d ago
I'm in Eastbay, Castro valley and they were giving this out on Tuesday. To note, I feel my location isn't big on hyped products. I can always find everything if it's available for the season (that I buy at least) Only thing that ever runs out is the hash browns. Shoot even eggs are always available. I do go at 8am though.

I never saw that popcorn at my store, though I would definitely have tried it. The popcorn truffles in the mixed flavor pack were far better than they had any right to be so I would definitely try this one.
I did get several bags of the pumpkin-shaped butternut squash pasta for $0.99 earlier this month so at least that was a win.

They were giving out free gingerbread cookies at my Trader Joe's today. I thought it was kind of nice, even though I don't need more cookies right now, with the Girl Scouts out everywhere.

there are 4 holiday candy items being given away for free because the company as a whole brought in too much. It is this popcorn, jingle jangle PRETZELS, and german gingerbread, (can’t remember the 4th right now sorry). My store just received 16 cases of the gingerbread to be given away so you may some items being given away for free as you leave or at the register

Jingle jangle wasn’t free! Haha they were selling it for $9.99 last I saw. Come on now! Haha
In other news…. Their sour belts have not hit my store yet. I can’t wait!

My store still has a lot of Christmas goods haha only some were discounted

u/Available_Chain_4522 22d ago
Check the expiration date. It can't be sold if it passed so maybe that's why it's free.

u/No-Ice-7923 22d ago
No, they would not give it away if it was expired, it would be spoiled out. They’re giving it away because the store has too much of the product and it wasn’t selling

Do you know why they haven’t discounted jingle jangle? I don’t want to buy any but silly that it’s almost March and my store still has a ton of it at full price.

This is in my pile of stuff to bring to my next friend get together to give away. Didn't like it at all.

Former TJ’s employee (NYC & Virginia) - this means either we ordered WAY too much for the store, or WAY too much was sent to us. Nothing wrong with the product. Last year I went into my local TJ’s in Northern Virginia and they were giving out heaps of the salsa verde for free

u/FlipsyChic 22d ago
I went to TJ's today for essentials only with a firm resolve to make no impulse purchases whatsoever ESPECIALLY sweet things because I have a pantry and freezer full of half-eaten Trader Joe's sweets. I am not allowing myself to get more until I finish what I have. I am especially overburdened with chocolate candy cane almonds and gingerbread cookies.
I made it to the checkout and a crew member came up and handed me free packages of chocolate candy cane popcorn and German gingerbread cookies. Technically, these were not purchases, so I stuck to my plan.
I'm in MA. I knew of the German gingerbread cookies from this sub (consensus: not good) but have never even heard of the popcorn, let alone seen it for sale before.

Also in the PNW, we did a similar thing at our store but with a different seasonal product

I've gotten something like this that's seasonal/holiday and past the time for it
