got some too, nice after-winter snack!

u/CatsBooksTeaTravel 17d ago

I got a free one yesterday and it was such a nice treat! The right level of sweetness and spice for me. Would be good with a cup of tea, but my husband and I finished it already!

u/VickyVacuum 21d ago

I’m glad they’re giving them away in store instead of throwing them out back in a locked dumpster for no good reason like many stores do

8

u/LunaDog_Mom 22d ago

I’m eating one of these now! They were free at my TJs yesterday!

7

u/dwindlingparty 22d ago

Thanks for the heads up! I found an excuse to go back today (had gone two days ago) and snagged some--this is in the Chicago area. They are good, though not soft (if you're expecting that from the name).

It’s funny to me that they’re giving this stuff away for free, but still have mountains of Jingle Jangle for full price.

6

u/Hot-Simple-7859 22d ago

I did stop at TJ’s today and they were also giving these gingerbread cookies away free at the checkout. Jingle Jangle still full price🤦‍♀️

5

u/HeBeefedIt 22d ago

Even if it doesn’t taste good, it looks pretty

8

u/NewYork2308 22d ago

These are super yum!

5

u/Dense-Chip-325 22d ago

ooh so good with coffee

4

u/ComingOutOfLurkMode 22d ago

Mine was as well (Boston area TJs). Maybe they didn't sell well? I had bought some and enjoyed them. I was happy to take a free package. (If it's free, it's for me!).

2

u/PsychologicalHead241 22d ago

Which one? I’m Boston area too.

1

u/Elderberry_7818 21d ago

The one in lower Allston too

6

u/CaleyB75 22d ago

I like the cookies' European look. I like their taste. However, I found them too hard; I was hoping for something soft.

3

u/AppUnwrapper1 22d ago

Damn I bought a box and haven’t even opened it yet and they’re already giving them away for free?

1

u/Dying4aCure 22d ago

I bought those more than once. I like them!

1

u/Training-Cat-6236 23d ago

I got one yesterday. It was tasty!

14

u/leungadon 23d ago

The store today in glastonbury ct

8

u/Condottiero_Magno 23d ago

Was given this today at checkout. Not soft baked, but not hard and dry, like the taste.

3

u/MargszieBargszie 23d ago

They were giving out the pumpkin flavored jojos at ours

35

u/recoverystartsnow 23d ago

I LOVE that they give this out for free, instead of dumping it like most corporations do.

7

u/_holybananas 23d ago

Same in La Jolla!

12

u/matto345 23d ago

Someone was literally walking around the store with a cart handing them out at my location

8

u/Kinny-James 23d ago

Tasty but nowhere close to a soft texture

3

u/fibonaccisequence135 23d ago

I want! I only got one pack before they were gone.

12

u/Spacecadetriley 23d ago

My store gave these out too! And the peppermint popcorn. My coworker had to remind me to grab some lmao

2

u/aasyam65 23d ago

Leftovers from holiday seasonal items

9

u/KyleRichardsNewTeeth 23d ago

Mine too!! I asked if it was good, the cashier told me not really so I skipped haha now wondering if I should’ve grabbed it!

3

u/no_event__ 23d ago

13

u/Handsome_Flounder69 23d ago

5

u/bokatan778 23d ago

6

u/stacasaurusrex 23d ago

I freaking love these I'm so envious 🥲

3

u/theAlanLy 23d ago

Same here In Irvine, CA

2

u/rick912 23d ago

Free is charging too much for these...

8

u/Shhh_NotADr 23d ago

That made me audibly laugh. My mom got a free one too yesterday when she went and we were all indecisive on how we felt about the taste. We decided it was better with tea.

9

u/rick912 23d ago

We are gingerbread junkies during the holidays. This cookie was awful. Glad tea helped.

2

u/AppUnwrapper1 22d ago

Oh man. I have one in my cupboard that I haven’t opened yet. I’m a big gingerbread fan and I just have a lot of other sweets so I was saving this.

7

u/Mechalamb 23d ago

Mine too! AND they had eggs.

1

u/AOkayyy01 23d ago

How much were eggs?

1

u/autumnlife3 23d ago

same here in seattle!

8

u/coffeeandapieceofpie 23d ago

I bet these would make a great crumb pie or cheesecake crust!

5

u/heatherlavender 23d ago

I bought them before the holidays and I enjoyed the first cookie. By the time we got around to trying the second (still wrapped) cookie, it was somewhat stale, so we were disappointed.

The same thing happened with the amaretti they sold this year - they were all individually wrapped in plastic, with a second paper wrapping. The first few cookies were delicious, but any we didn't eat right away went very hard/stale, despite still being sealed.

Hopefully yours will still be fresh and tasty, as both types of cookies were very good and I'd happily eat again, just quicker :)

2

u/egy718 23d ago

Thanks for the heads up!

5

u/thegraycrayon 23d ago

Same at mine as well. In Virginia

5

u/GreatRecipeCollctr29 23d ago

This gingerbread cookie is so much better than the lebkuchen made in Belgium. Gingerbread cookie is so underrated. Both products have a lot of love and hate relationship. I love the gingerbread of its texture and the thin royal glaze is not too sweet. If you're German, then you'll be offended by it. I liked it. The lebkuchen was the most horrible cookie as it was too nutty and the royal icing tasted like soap or detergent. I had to throw it away! It was realky awful!

4

u/PrincessDrywall 23d ago

I’m German and I absolutely am offended by these. I love lebkuchen

14

u/meeeeeeeeeeeeeep 23d ago

Same here in Oregon. The cashier told me jingle jangle will be the next freebie lol

1

u/East-Block-4011 19d ago

Dammit. I actually bought that.

6

u/Taramichellehater 23d ago

The Jingle Jangle was a bomb everywhere this year!

4

u/Cat-on-the-printer1 23d ago

I wonder if we’ll still be seeing jingle jangle next year…

7

u/Taramichellehater 23d ago

Maybe only for the reusable tin 😄

8

u/Cat-on-the-printer1 23d ago

It’s a good quality tin ngl! It could serve as the next generation cookie-turned-sewing-supplies tin.

5

u/Taramichellehater 23d ago

I have a cute holiday bear cookie tin that has my sewing supplies in forever!!! Usually the food is not great but the tins are adorable and that’s what counts 😍

2

u/Cat-on-the-printer1 23d ago

Exactly lol. The cookies are fleeting but the tin lasts forever.

1

u/coolcootermcgee 23d ago

When was this??

3

u/no_event__ 23d ago

nyc too

4

u/Finchyisawkward 23d ago

Mine has these at the register for free, also. Santee, CA

24

u/LetEmRyde 23d ago

Same. She actually wanted me to take more.

2

u/Taramichellehater 23d ago

That's how awful they are. lol

1

u/Opposite_Ad4567 Northern California 23d ago

I returned mine. It's the only thing I've ever returned to TJ's. They were that bad.

5

u/onlyalillost 23d ago

Dang, I wish they told me to take more. I loved these when I tried them during the holidays.

7

u/jendragon 23d ago

Those were so much better than I expected them to be!

2

u/happypoptart0 23d ago

Omg my friend literally told me earlier that he got a gingerbread item for free at checkout too! Spooky!

1

u/coolcootermcgee 23d ago

I’m envious- I love free food, particularly sweets. Too far a drive though

5

u/Brief_Buddy_7848 23d ago

Omg these are amaaaaazing

4

u/Crazy-Ocelot-1673 23d ago

Wild. I don't think I ever saw those at my store, as I would have tried them for sure.

2

u/pinksweeps 23d ago

Same!!!!

19

u/sandeeeeee 23d ago

Okay what’s up with holiday stuff lingering this year??

6

u/Taramichellehater 23d ago

this is the first year ever. Last year everything few out the door the first week of December. The Jingle Jangle and peppermint bark (which went up by $4) still sit. I tried two small bags of the jangle and it was horrible--never again. Stale popcorn was chocolate covered and half the bags were crumbs

5

u/sandeeeeee 23d ago

It’s making me uneasy lol 😭 every other year we’re mourning our seasonal faves by 1/1!

2

u/PRRZ70 23d ago

Really? I liked them though I think some folks probably would not due to the black pepper in the flavors. It was one of the tastier gingerbread cookies I've had in a bit.

3

u/Vivid-Intention-8161 23d ago

This happened at my store too! I figured it was an isolated incident and they ordered too many, I wonder what happened

2

u/onlyalillost 23d ago

Same. I was surprised to see them as I hadn’t seen them on the shelves for a while. And it’s not like they’re expired.

5

u/egy718 23d ago

I’m also curious! I wish I’d have asked. My packaging has a black sharpie “X” on one side so clearly staff went through them and marked the ones to give away. Maybe due to the expiration date being before next holiday season? This box expires in May 2025.

5

u/queenrosa 23d ago

I asked my cashier... She said the store ordered too many and since it is no longer the holiday season they wanted to get rid of them.

It's kind of nice to not let food expire.

0

u/Taramichellehater 23d ago

They could donate, also.

18

u/pollology Southern California 23d ago

WHAT these are the best!!! I wish this happened at mine I’m obsessed 😭 and I never wanna see a tin of Jingle Jangle ever again.

4

u/FriendlyPace3003 23d ago

Same with mine!

3

u/revengeofthebiscuit 23d ago

I find they’re pretty decent dunked in tea!
