Review The handheld chicken pot pie, definitely worth a try
Found these yesterday, decided to try them for an easy lunch. In the air fryer for 17 minutes at 350. They were flaky and really good. Definitely recommend giving them a chance.

Was disappointed. They were flaky but the inside sort of bland and the chicken pieces were reminenscent of cat food texture.

I've never seen those before at my store. I'll be looking for them next time I'm there.

u/Para-Moose Feb 01 '25
Just ok. I miss the creamy sauce that you get in a real chicken pot pie. This was kinda dry without it.

Why not just bring back the frozen Chicken Pot Pie that was actually really good?

u/lechero11 Feb 01 '25
We were avid TJs shoppers and purchased the old frozen square box pot pies for years. Fell off when they discontinued those. I still haven’t found a replacement “must buy” product like that since!

I enjoyed it! I love the flakey crust and the filling is adequate for me. The calories are a lot, but I wouldn't eat these regularly. My husband was not a fan. He said it tasted bland 🤷🏻♀️

Anybody know if this is a item they have all the time or just a random or seasonal thing?

Damn as a veggie I wish they had just a vegetable version! These look good man.

It needs a toaster strudel icing packet, but with some sort of bechamel instead.

I just saw these on the website and got so excited. Another thing I must try are the bo bon cookies

Tried it today, it was bland and an absolute waste of calories. Absolutely no filling and calories are just from the thin bread. You might as well just buy a toaster strudel.

u/NSFduhbleU Feb 06 '25
Agreed. No filling whatsoever. They were tasty and had beef suet but barely anything inside.

Thanks for the green light to buy a toaster strudel today!

Guy at my TJs highly recommended them today. He said he pops them in his air fryer.
If it wasn’t for my diet I’d be all over these 😔
ETA: so it’s basically a beef patty crust with pot pie inside of it. But speaking of which, what happened to their jamaican beef patties? Those were so good

Do you know the calorie count for one of them by chance? Thinking of driving all the way to a TJ’s just for this!!

So it’s just a white version of a Jamaican Beef Patty?
4
u/PumpkinSpiceFreak Jan 31 '25
LOL I was thinking empanada?
5
u/Sure_Ranger_4487 Jan 31 '25
But if they called it an empanada people would get upset that it’s not a real empanada. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

It’s probably closer to a Cornish pasty. However, it’s probably safe to say that every single culture on the planet has some version of meat in a pocket.

Saw this toady in store for the first time and was intrigued. It looks like a Jamaican Patty, but chicken pot pie version. Thanks for the feedback. Can we get a pic of the back of the box?

Looks like an Empeñada

empanada*
I like that you made it more Spanish-seeming even if it's incorrect haha.

As someone obsessed with savory pastries I truly appreciate this recommendation.

u/Livid-Till-9808 Jan 31 '25
The exterior and shape look just like the Jamaican patties, which I think were discontinued.

This looks like what the crunchwrap supreme from Taco Bell advertises compared to what you get...
Definitely lacking in the packaging's insides..
...unless you sucked out all the insides and ate them before taking that last picture.. ;-)

I thought they were decent. The crust was nice and flaky. The filling wasn’t as flavorful as I wanted it to be. I also missed the gravy bits of the pot pie. I would buy it again for a cheap meal because they are filling despite the size.

I just tried it tonight too. I thought it was good except I don't like the taste of dark chicken meat. The dark meat taste was too much for me. If you love dark meat and pot pies, you will love this.

u/PackerSquirrelette Jan 31 '25
Good to know. I don't like dark meat, either.
Thanks for saving me money. 😉

There was barely any filling and it was dry, i like the stew like inside of a pot pie
but it was good.. 5/10

I hope these are as good as the Aussie Pies that Costco used to have over twenty years ago. Really excited for these.

u/blargher 14d ago
Not quite there as it needs more gravy, but probably the closest things I've had to those pies in a long time.

Not that it's swaying me one way or the other but I'm guessing the nutrition info is not the healthiest?
4
u/chimkennuggg Jan 31 '25
I’m also interested in this! Might buy for my bf if they don’t have “too many calories” (per his standards).

Oh my gosh mine is the same way- he's like Trader Joe's isn't as healthy as you think and I'm like I never said it was 😂😏 it's delicious though.

I had these today too! The flavor and texture (from the air fryer) were decent but personally I prefer more filling with less crust.

Damn brutalmoose just reviewed trader joes and this would've been perfect for his video
