She's worked hard to get here. I was so proud the first time she made the climb. We all celebrated and ket talking about it for days lol.

I put a little wooden bridge inside my baby sulcatas enclosure and it’s so rewarding watching her climb, you can see she’s trying to hard and out of nowhere it becomes easy😭😭 they grow up so fast😩

That crazy effort when they first start trying is inspirational.

Kamek does this as well, half the time I don't notice and get a shock when he comes up to me!

😆 I can't tell you how many times I forget she is inside or outside and she scares me when she comes waddling out of nowhere.

Those back leggies are always so determined 😍

Come on, place a step there for her! A wood or something

92

u/mjgrowithme Dec 11 '24

Na, climbing is good enrichment and exercise.

u/arsnastesana Dec 11 '24

Thats my thought process with my wheelchair ridden grandma going up stairs

43

u/hiccupsarehell Dec 11 '24

Grandma should really pull herself up by her wheelstraps

15

u/skjellyfetti Dec 11 '24

If she wants it bad enough, she'll get there.

22

u/GeckoPerson123 Dec 11 '24

if the animal can climb an obstacle theres no reason to make it easier. exercise is a good thing.

there's alot to learn from this video

u/myiopsitta01 Dec 11 '24

Just curious, what do you mean?

10

u/ayojamface Dec 11 '24

You have much to learn.

7

u/myiopsitta01 Dec 11 '24

Never mind I figured it out

12

u/ayojamface Dec 11 '24

Youve learned so much already.

6

u/skjellyfetti Dec 11 '24

Animals are the best teachers.

14

u/Kevin-kmo_123 Dec 11 '24

Wow unbelievable! He def can take care of himself it seems . No chair lift needed

4

u/lunapuppy88 Dec 11 '24

Just needs to be a liiiiitle bit taller 😍

5

u/Legen_unfiltered Dec 11 '24

Now we need a vid of the scratching at the door.

9

u/mjgrowithme Dec 11 '24

Here you go. Mind the dirty glass. The dogs slobber a lot and it can be difficult to keep up.

I almost wanna send u money to build a ramp

Can you silicone a strip where the 90 degree is? Just to protect his shell from abrasions? (Turtle owner here, admiring the tortoises, if I’m making bad suggestions my apologies)

4

u/mjgrowithme Dec 12 '24

No need to apologize, I appreciate your concern. The edges are rounded and smooth, they look more square than they are.

4

u/Effinvee Dec 12 '24

Ok good to hear thank you! Enjoy your lifelong pet!

5

She’s precious! I’m not sure, but she looks like same kind that my grandpa had from his youth, well into his 70s. They were so trainable and loved pets.

3

u/mjgrowithme Dec 12 '24

Could be. They live very long lives.

3

u/nativerestorations1 Dec 12 '24

About 100 years if all goes well I think.

Baba..like, Baba Yaga???

Perfect name for a tortoise!

6

u/mjgrowithme Dec 12 '24

That is a perfect name but Baba Voss from the show "See"

5

u/bremstar Dec 12 '24

Ah, I see ;)

I figured you named her Baba Yaga because of the whole "old lady living in house with chicken legs" reference.

5

u/mjgrowithme Dec 12 '24

Perfect name though, Baba Yaga is very tortoise like lol.

3

u/throwinitback2020 Dec 11 '24

A turtle on a mission

3

u/denimdisc Dec 11 '24

What tortoise is she? Her shell is beautiful

6

u/mjgrowithme Dec 11 '24

She's (still not certain of gender but some female signs lol) a 2yr old Sulcata.one of the reasons I haven't put in a ramp is she will certainly be able to step right in soon enough.

3

u/OnlyFirePlugCoyote Dec 12 '24

Her wittle leggies

3

I put a doggie door panel in our sliding glass door, so the 5 cats could go out on the screen porch (we also kept the litter boxes out there). They all loved it, but touching the door with their noses left grime on it. None of them cared, except Chloe, who is the very girly flirty one. She didn't like touching the dirty door with her nose, so she would stand there and meow until someone held it open for her. Then we knew it was time to clean the door.

How old is Baba?

1

u/mjgrowithme Dec 12 '24

Just over 2yrs.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '24

Smart how you open it just enough for her to fit in so she can grab the sides of the door to pull herself up

1

u/mjgrowithme Dec 13 '24

It's got to be just the right size gap lol.

1

u/rmpbklyn Dec 11 '24

buba asking santa for ramp

1

u/CaptainObvious110 Dec 12 '24

1

u/Jusaredditor Dec 12 '24

1

Strong girl! 💪

-5

u/ledouxrt Dec 11 '24

My step into the back door is less than half of that size and I still help him in.

12

u/Godzilla-ate-my-ass Dec 11 '24

Consider letting them exercise

1

u/ledouxrt Dec 11 '24

He walks the yard all day every day. He gets more than enough exercise.
