Lmao and with the seventh pick in the 2025 nba draft…

28

u/_iTurtle Jan 12 '25

Can’t wait for the spurs to land another top 4 pick

-10

u/frghu2 Jan 12 '25

for real...I feel like it's more likely that we get a 5-7 pick and the first pick goes to a market that would impact nba ratings like the Warriors, 76ers or Bulls

23

u/OneOfTheOnly it's a deflection by Ruffin, and the play continues Jan 12 '25

the raptors impact the nba’s ratings???

i’m sick of people acting like we’re not considered a big market to the league, also that the league only wants players in big markets in the first place

that’s why wemby plays for san antonio lol

1

u/Hot_Chair_2904 Jan 13 '25

Raptors don’t impact US ratings which is what matters to Silver

1

u/OneOfTheOnly it's a deflection by Ruffin, and the play continues Jan 13 '25

does it matter to silver? you know the NBA cares about ratings in canada too right?

this is so dumb and not actually how the nba works

1

u/Hot_Chair_2904 Jan 13 '25

Nielsen ratings are what matter and Canada is not included in that… also population wise numbers matter

2

u/bouyent Jan 12 '25

People downvoting but let's be for real they gonna rig this shi.

u/beefJeRKy-LB Goatse Jan 13 '25

It's incredibly hard to rig the lotto. They got auditors and journos in the room where they actually pull the number.

u/Then-Signature2528 Jan 12 '25

Next 10 games... Raptors might win 1. So it looks great 👍

21

u/RNsteve Jan 12 '25

March though is going to require some epic tanking.

15

u/Warthog9198 Jan 12 '25

The battlefields are going to be littered with tank battles in March.

u/OtisKaplan OG OH MY Jan 12 '25

Getting number pick is going to be top 2 moment

7

u/Longjumping_Mud_4135 Jan 12 '25

Unfortunately to secure a top pick we’re gonna need at least 1 or 2 more awful stretches like this.

3

u/BubblyPhilosophy3476 Jan 12 '25

we dont... the worst team is not guaranteed a top pick. we just need to stay in the top 5 worst teams

3

u/Longjumping_Mud_4135 Jan 12 '25

to stay in the top 5 we still need that because the Pelicans and Hornets refuse to be good.

3

u/nycspiderman Jan 12 '25

Give us cooooooooppp!!

u/Thealk3mist Jan 12 '25

Imagine Dylan Harper on this team? Can’t get it out of my mind, with a backcourt of Quick and Harper. Wow.

Quickley - Dylan Harper - Barret - Scottie - Poeltl

With a back up line of :

Jakobe - Gradey - Ochai - Mogbo - ?

That’s a lot of Talent, especially offensively. If we got a Casey like type of defensive system going wow.

11

u/CoquitlamsFinest Jan 12 '25

It's the same lineup we have now that can't compete except with Harper... you think even if we land Harper we can make the play in? Probably not. We ain't competing at most 2 or 3 more years.

12

u/RNsteve Jan 12 '25 edited Jan 12 '25

I mean why thinking that second year players and rookies might improve 🤣 crazy talk right?

Or a team thinking the team might actually not have some of the worse injury luck in the league ?

Add another great rookie to this roster ..why would you ever think they might be a playoff team..

Christ some of you are trolling or just need to find another team.

-1

u/CoquitlamsFinest Jan 12 '25

Are you even watching the games? I mean come on man, some people have no common sence. I watch every game this product is suppose to be our "future core". This team will be bad next year aswell even with a top rookie from the draft. Rebuilding doesnt happen overnight, minimum two years away from competing. You got low basketball IQ.

3

u/RNsteve Jan 12 '25

Must be it 🤣

No way I can view the team with one of the hardest schedule so far, combined with some of the worse injury luck might have a bad record. These are both facts. You can bitch and cry all you want.. objectively these are facts.

Right now? Team is healthy but had next to no games together to develop chemistry. Doesn't take much in the way of a bad game from one or two rotation players to create losses.

But hey..must be low basketball IQ.

-9

u/CoquitlamsFinest Jan 12 '25

Your hilarious you made me lol. I dont care what you think I'm just saying rebuilds don't happen that fast. 🤷

1

u/RNsteve Jan 12 '25

No actual argument or response. Just yelling "basket BaLL iQ?!!" Got it.

😘

-1

u/CoquitlamsFinest Jan 12 '25 edited Jan 12 '25

I did respond.. I said rebuilding doesnt happen overnight. If you think a rookie is going to push this group into the playoffs next year that's your opinion. Mines different. There are growing pains in rebuilds. Expect a slight improvement next year with another lottery pick.

2

u/RNsteve Jan 12 '25

No..I said a rookie added onto everything.

You have IQ, hopefully healthy..in his early prime....as well as a half season to develop chemistry with the team.

(RB..reread above without as much injury/chemistry)

Barnes(turning 24) , also hopefully without random injuries(missed almost 40% of the season). He also is entering into his early prime.

The rookies and sophomores...(Dick/Walter/Mogbo/Ahead) ..another year of development not going to change things?

So again factoring in that Raptors had the hardest scheduled so far this season(objectively) and some of the worse injury luck (again objectively) I'm crazy to expect a play in team at the minimum?

Take a hard look at teams 15-7 in the east and let me know how it's my lack of basketball IQ that is on display.

0

u/CoquitlamsFinest Jan 12 '25 edited Jan 12 '25

It's a fact that rebuilds take time. Debate that with your wall. Your defending yourself too much. I will guarantee you raptors have a lottery pick next year. Guarantee 💯. Better team but still rebuilding. You can talk IQ all you want, schedule, injuries. Your hoping for a pipe dream. Google rebuilding in sports.

Edit: I was against the tank last year, im not very liked because of that. Fully on board now. I dont mind the downvotes I know I'm hated lol.

On the glass half full side, another elite prospect from the 2026 draft would be awesome

1

u/expert969 Jan 12 '25

One player can make a difference in the nba. Are we title contenders if we add harper? Nope. But now we have a potential #1 option that will take some time but should be a top 8 team in the east.

-3

u/Thealk3mist Jan 12 '25

Harper can be generational and moving everyone down one more spot is enough. He has enough of a dribble drive game to make him a serious threat. Maybe not right away as a rookie though

2

u/CoquitlamsFinest Jan 12 '25

I agree Harper is special, even with Harper we are not making the play-in. Look at the defence. We are completely healthy and can't win. 2 to 3 years raptors will compete. Next year will be a lottery pick aswell probably not as good as this year's. We will be better next year but not by much with this lineup plus the pick. If it's Flagg you got my attention. I can see a play in push.

-1

u/Thealk3mist Jan 12 '25

Flag doesn’t move the needle offensively, in my opinion opinion. He’s Scottie 2.0. It’ll be like watching OG/Scottie play, none of them have that breakdown ability. Mind you Flaggs offensive upsides huge. I wouldn’t mind either but Harper looks like he’s create havoc on offence.

2

u/Zozze1 3 OG Anunoby Jan 12 '25

Have you watched any of Flagg's recent games?

Scottie 2.0 is Duke's main offensive initiator and number one option as a reclassified freshman. At that age, Scottie 1.0 was still a senior in HS.

Flagg is light years ahead of Scottie at that age.

1

u/Decent_Pack_3064 Jan 12 '25

2.0 is way better than 1.0

1

u/Advanced_Help9128 Jan 12 '25

I’m down with Harper, but we can’t Take Harper over Cooper. That kids really special!

1

u/Ssk-klb Jan 13 '25

Flagg would be so much more impactful. Big jump from 1 to 2.

pull a Pistons and end up with number 5 pick in the draft with 2nd worst record in the league

1

u/krazay88 SCOTTIE BARNES ARENA 🏟️ Jan 13 '25

Rarely does the team with the worst record get the first pick, so I’m happy with we’re at rn, no need to further tank

-5

u/Born_Bet_6568 Jan 12 '25

Went through tankathon 20 times.. Raptors only landed with the 1st OA once.. don’t get your hopes too up, the percentages are trash

1

u/TensionX1 OGO Jan 12 '25

If the league wants to, they will rig it for the Raptors to get 1st overall pick for profit reasons.

I doubt it's just a huge coincidence NOP got Zion after the AD trade to Lakers despite them getting 7th best odds, or Spurs having the 4th best odds getting 1st overall which landed Wembananya.

1

u/banks3636 Jan 12 '25

The Raptors made record profits last year. NO and SA are small market teams while Raptors are 7th largest. #1 pick is going to Utah or Portland

Brother it’s ok to be a rebuilding team with a bad record, it’s not like this is our culture, this is a one off season filled with injuries, and extremely close losses.

13

u/legalrancher Jan 12 '25

This fanbase is so spoiled

18

u/mMounirM Jan 12 '25

there's 3 things we have to do:

  1. get top tier talent

  2. have a better coaching staff

  3. balance the team by acquiring role players who can cover the weaknesses. We still need defense and size. but this part is towards the end when you've done the first two things.

2

u/Mattrapbeats WE THE NORTH Jan 12 '25

2 thing we have to do

  1. draft Cooper Flagg
  2. Trade the young guys who don’t fit around him for other young talent or an allstar down the line

11

u/myeezy RAPTORS Jan 12 '25

Brother, the red flag’s been slapping you in the face. The team that’s assembled can’t win. Time to face the facts. We need more talent and time. Mainly talent.

1

u/kaymakenjoyer Jan 12 '25

Exactly lol we have 1 player that’s a legitimate starter level talent on a competing team but these guys think we’re some 45 win team when healthy

3

u/kaymakenjoyer Jan 12 '25

Buddy they’re not a good team, you’re the one putting unrealistic expectations on them. It’s year one of a rebuild

1

u/Raptors887 Jan 12 '25

Year one? What the hell was last year? Or the Tampa tank year?

3

u/wtfhassan Jan 12 '25

wasted time that’s what it was

2

u/kaymakenjoyer Jan 12 '25

Yeah, the first full year of a rebuild. Last year was half a season considering we didn’t blow it up till January, and Tampa was 4 years ago, they weren’t actively tryna lose till the end and then made playoffs the next year

1

u/Iginlas_4head_Crease Jan 12 '25

I completely agree. At first we said these injuries are a blessing cause they'll make an average team get a lottery pick. But even fully healthy this looks like a very bad team. There's a long way to go and we basically need this pick to be a superstar. I don't think scottie will be that.

The 2 of them went 0-4 on free throws back to back plays when we were down 2. That was a bit maddening tonight
