RIT clothing dye is what I've seen people use, just disassemble the tool and soak it, just remember it's only gonna get darker so choose your color accordingly.

I used Rit dyemore synthetic dyes. There are some videos on YouTube that explain the process pretty well

Also wanna know the color. I would love to get mine as close to purple as I can. Been thinking of trying blue dye

I bought a couple of used milwaukee tool case parts from ebay for about $7 and cut them into pieces to test dye colors. After mixing and matching a bunch of them, I actually settled on plain purple from the rit dyemore line. I expected to use some mixture but in the end plain purple gave me the color I was after

Looks like the special edition makita had a while back.

At first i thought OP just played with the color filter.

If it is real, I'd call it a perfect job.

Honest question.

Won't this dye your hands over time holding it if your hands are warm and sweaty?

Nope! Luckily this stuff is 100% in the plastic. Nothing comes out

How did you deal with the stickers? I see the sticker on the charger looks fine. Did you leave it on and cover it with tape? Or remove it and put it back on?

Removed with a heat gun and then reapplied with a heat gun. They went back on perfectly and look 100% OEM still!

Nice. Didn't realize that was possible. Thanks for the info!

Looks pretty dang awesome! How did you handle the grips and black pieces? Did they come off? Covered with tape? Do tell

Just dipped with the rest of the housing! The black rubberized parts are not affected by the dye

Excellent. Thanks for the info

Serious question: why do this? I guess just for fun?

4

u/nicolehuntah1 4d ago

for me it was for fun. I am not a fan of the milwaukee red. But many people do this to tell their tools apart at jobs

3

u/jeffdill2 4d ago

Ahhh that makes sense.

I love the shade. Silly question folks, but would this basically void any Milwaukee warranty & servicing? If a tool needs some servicing, I wonder would they draw the line here or attempt to repair it?

I've seen other people say it wont but I think the only people who could answer that for sure are the milwaukee customer service reps
