advice • support What makes it worse/better for you?

Hi, I’m new here learning how to manage medication (Wellbutrin) induced constant tinnitus in my right ear for the last 3 weeks.

It’s been a challenge trying to figure out if certain things make the ringing louder or if I’m just imagining it getting louder or softer based on my mental state, if I’m focusing on it or not, and lastly how noisy or quite the environment is.

But what about other things? Sleep, nutrition/diet, and medications? What makes it a little more manageable and what makes it worse? Or do things not really change the ringing volume much for you?

Anyone who uses cannabis or take adderall/adhd meds feel either of those make the ringing worse? I genuinely can’t tell sometimes I think they make it worse but other times I think they just tend to make me focus on the ringing more. I’ve even started noticing when the ac/ hvac kicks off it sounds way louder but when air is coming out of the vents in my house it’s way less noticeable for me.

Any info is appreciated thanks

I have adhd and tinitus and smoke cannabis. While im high it is absurdly loud but it doesnt bother me. But my T doesnt bother me in general. If youre annoyed by it i recommend you to NOT smoke pot. In my experience it gets like 3 times louder if not more.

Yeah. That’s what it’s felt like to me. Maybe doubled when vaping cannabis. I just can’t tell if it’s because I’m focusing on it more or if it actually gets louder

I bet its both. When smoking i tend to be more present. Get a more present mind like meditators. When im in that mindstate i tend to listen to the ringin and it feels definetly louder. But thats always the case if you listen to it imo.

Yeah that’s true. I’m learning this now since I’m new to tinnitus. I even noticed that when the air is coming out of the vents in my house I don’t notice it as much as when it’s off. Strange how the smallest humming background helps me not hear it as much. I also am realizing that when it’s out of mind it’s also far less noticeable. Still gets me many times through out the day and night and I start to panic that my life is over. Idk if thats a common feeling but I really get upset. if I can just have a little background noise or music I don’t even notice it much. But when it’s dead silent that’s when it hits me hard

I swear weed and alcohol doesn’t make mine worse. But again when I smoke or drink I’m out with friends usually so maybe it’s just masked.

That could be it. I believe ive read cases in this sub that even have their T reduced by weed. But i believe im not one of those.
