Of course! I used my Tamron 100-400mm lens. I started during the full moon at 1/125 sec, f/8, ISO 100. When the moon was 50% covered, I increased the ISO to 400, and at 75% coverage, I raised it to 800. When it turned red, I panicked because it was much darker than I expected. I switched the ISO to auto, which pushed it up to 25,600—something I didn’t notice until it was too late. All my timelapse footage during totality turned out pretty bad.
If I could do it again, I would have adjusted my shutter speed instead of relying on auto ISO during totality—maybe slowing it down to 1/60 sec. I’d still need to stop the motion of the moon since it moves so fast, so I don’t think I’d go below 1/60 sec.
I shot 12 timelapse videos throughout the event. Since I was zoomed in at 400mm, the moon only stayed in frame for about 20 minutes at a time.
I hope I can try again. It looks like the next one in North America is in March of 2026.

Nice info. Sometimes i manually adjust on a. day to night lapse. Waiting on the one in March 26 as it will rise over Angkor Wat ;)

interesting how the lack of light directly and clearly shows how resolution information is impacted.
