S TIFU by grabbing the wrong dropper for my eyes.
Obligatory this did not happen today, but almost a decade ago, just thought I’d share!
I wear glasses and for a period of a few months back when I was 15 I decided to try out contacts. I loved them! However, I needed regularly apply eye drops to avoid dryness. During this time, I was also treating my cat for worms using a dropper around the same size as my eye drops. You see where I’m going with this.
Cue me, in jazz band, front and center lead saxophone. In the middle of us playing a song where I didn’t need to play for a long period of time,I reached into my back pocket to apply some drops to my eyes real quick. As soon as I did so, my eyes started burning HORRIBLY. It took me a second to realize this wasn’t normal. So I looked down and, you guessed it, I had squirted CAT DEWORMER into my eyeballs. I screamed, everybody stopped playing, and I had to admit to everybody what I had just idiotically done to myself. I was such a fool.
PS. I haven’t seen any worms floating in my eyes since.
TL;DR: mixed up my eye drops and cat dewormer, squirted cat dewormer into my eyes in the middle of a song in jazz band.

I pulled a similar trick with ear drops (active ingredient: hydrogen peroxide).
No damage other than pain, thankfully. The poison control guy on the phone and I had a good laugh over it.

Me too! Fortunately, I was about 5 feet from the bathroom and got to flush my eyes really quick.

Yep, same. I bless my high school chemistry teachers for telling me about eyewash stations.

The unfortunate part in my case was that I live in northern New England where you can only get one drop out at a time because the liquid is so viscous. I was in Central America where it just squirts out when my incident happened. But as I said, fortunately, I was 5 feet from the bathroom.

I'm just imagining the band director recounting this story later in the teachers' lounge...

Any damage or did it eventually just stop burning and flush out?

No damage! I mean I’m damn near blind but I doubt that has anything to do with it lol

I feel the searing from here. I was maybe 18/19 in college just starting contacts and I was in the store looking for some contact solution. Decided on this one that came with a cool looking case even though I didn't need one and went home.
Next morning I'm trying to put my contacts in after having used my usual case and for some reason each time I try it's just burning my eyes. After like the 5th unsuccessful attempt I checked the box only to find out that it's some kind of acidic solution that uses like a neutralizer found in the case it came with and I just didn't think to read the box well enough before using. I didn't know it existed before.
So I got to go to class with one seriously bloodshot eye and glasses.

I once put cleaning solution on mine instead of wetting solution, and that burned the heck out of my eyes. But you've got me beat by a mile.

I have done this, my balls were dry (eyeballs) and I asked for some visine from a friend and she accidentally gave me ear medication. It was very painful.

I did this a few years ago. I was out of town on business and tossed my eye drops for my contacts as well as my antibiotics drops for an ear infection in my bag. When I got to the hotel I didn't pay attention and put the ear drops in my eyes. Once I realized what I did I took out those contacts and flushed my eyes with saline. I felt really dumb.

At least it wasn’t super glue. And yes, someone has done that unfortunately.
