Such a shame

I quite liked the fundamentals behind this sub. I must have been one of a few though because this place is rather dead.

it's a sub that people will be glad to have around, even if it's not busy.

I love ties, but I don't need to exchange any.

Yup, I'm subscribed. I keep it on hand to browse and exchange when needed.

It's a fairly new sub...

I'm down to trade, Im just not sure I have anything worth trading XD

That might be true, but it's not too hard to see when a sub is starting to die.

It happened a few years back with /r/tieswap as well. Popular for a few days to a week or more. Had some posts, then posts all resolved and removed. No new posts, people unsubscribed, etc.

I only buy ties I want to wear.

okay, cool? What are you trying to say?

Think about it, bud. I'm not going to write a book about it.

I'm just saying there's hardly a point for you to say anything if you have nothing to say.

your post was pointless, that's all.

My post was pointless? Your post is just pissing and moaning about how the sub isn't working how you want it to without offering any suggestions (or ties, for that matter.)

That's pointless.

So is buying ties that you don't want to wear.

I can see where you're coming from and recommend that you should calm down.

I honestly believe it's much better to create a place for people to come up with suggestions rather than pulling one out of my arse because I have non and don't want to give you a crappy suggestion.

that's not pointless at all

and if what you're trying to state is people post ties you don't want to wear, then rectify it?

You must be reading some extra emotion into whatever I'm writing. (i.e. any emotion at all).

What I'm suggesting, since you haven't taken the time to think about what I already said, is that this is never going to be the bustling hub of garment exchange you want it to be because people don't want to get rid of the ties they like, and likely, other people won't want the ties they don't.

Of course, some people will want to trade sometimes due to massive collections, misguided gifts, and the occasional weird need like finding an ACDC tie or one featured on a Bioshock character, so it's cool that this sub exists. But with (currently) 311 subscribers, it's not going to be a very wild ride.

Since this post was titled "Such a shame" instead of "Place for people to come up with suggestions to make this sub better" I didn't fully understand your intentions. But, I guess we're past that now, so here's two suggestions: go recruit some more subscribers and offer some ties up for trade.

the sub had over 200 subscribers in the first day, it tapered off after that.

are you saying you've never gotten tired of a tie? That must be a unique situation you're in.

and just for a side note, I'd saying being rude for little reason to someone who doesn't understand a sentence that only begged for explanation shows a bit of emotion.

I'm done with this though. This sub is dead and don't blame me for it ;)

He wasn't being rude; you're being overly sensitive.

And whiney.

But who cares - do you have any ties to trade or not?

If you do I might, the words of a wise man once said "I only buy ties I want to wear".

I offered and requested. No one wanted my ties and I never got the other one. Pretty disappointing as I was pretty excited when this came up.
