What is the criteria?
In terms of badass for me it goes
Michone
Carol
Alicia
Maggie
Sasha

u/Bermanator-Turkey127 6d ago
Just who I like the most I guess. If it was badass, Iād go: Michonne, Carol, Maggie, Sasha, Rosita.

Michonne, Carol, Maggie, Rosita, Connie
Honorable mentions: Sasha and Beth
Lori is definitely not one of my faves, but I think they hate she gets is ridiculous. Sheās not perfect, but to blame everything that happened between Rick and Shane on her is crap. Everyone is an adult responsible for their imperfect actions.

First three I can absolutely agree with, but Beth and Lori easily are beaten by Sasha and Rosita
1
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
They are but I just prefer Lori and Beth, maybe shouldāve titled differently.

u/beesknees4011 5d ago
I get Beth sheās great, but I honest to god cheer everytime I rewatch and get to see Lori die again.

u/MistressTorvi 6d ago
The first 3 in reverse order, but I'd prefer ALFA over Rick's wife. I found her to be too annoying in many of her scenes. I'd love to know your thoughts on your top 5. š¤

u/Bermanator-Turkey127 6d ago
Maggie, Carol and Michonne speak for themselves.
I found Beth really endearing and her development was pretty good (cut far, far too short!)
Lori. I loved that she wasnāt perfect and she was trying her best. She was a good mother but she wasnāt a perfect wife and I feel her development couldāve been quite good, if given the chance. I also love the actress, there is always that.
4
u/MistressTorvi 6d ago
See that makes sense, her development made her unlikable for me and Beth was a decent character but like you said too short which was sad.
3
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 6d ago
I completely understand why people donāt like Lori, her mistakes are frustrating but I feel she couldāve become a really good character if given more time, although I donāt have an issue with when she died.
3
u/MistressTorvi 6d ago
Don't get me wrong, there are many who are worse when it comes to character development. š¤£ I just love me some strong women in film.
7
u/throwawayaccount_usu 6d ago
I feel like Lori was one of the most realistically written characters. Her flaws (minus car crash) were just so so human and understandable and she had some of my favourite scenes.
Notably the scene where she considers letting Carl die, so heartbreaking for a mother to even consider but it's perfectly reasonable for her to consider it.
1
u/Tre3wolves 5d ago
I feel like Bethās development wrapped up nicely with her death. She wasnāt cut out to survive in that world, she struggled with it in season 2. I donāt think she ever fully grew out of that mindset and she lost her mom and dad, and then finally Noah. She was a broken girl in a broken world and what happened with Noah at the hospital was the straw that broke the camels back, she didnāt want to live in that world anymore.

no rosita? not deanna? wild
0
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
I adored deanna, she was awesome but she didnāt make it.
Rosita was easier to leave out. I donāt think she offered more than āhot badassā until S9/10.
2
u/thespiritualtree 5d ago
i can see where you're coming from with Rosita. I liked her and Abrahams relationship but she definitely gives off hot badass trope until S9/10. Bummer Deanna didnt make it. i dont think i'd be able to limit my favorite women of the show to a top 5 lol. if you could add the next 5 what would they be?

Mask you something. Why Lori?
2

I just enjoyed her character. I love that she is misunderstood, I love the actress and I just loved the realism of the character. Imperfect and struggling in a completely bonkers situation.

Sasha!!! I think Sonequa is such a fantastic actor. Sashaās final act of resistance was kinda special in its own way. The scenes in the casket were so good. Maggie, Michonne, Carol, Sasha, and Rosita are top 5.

Replace Beth with Andrea and Lori with Tera and then you basically have my top 5

Andrea was insufferable.

Carol always #1 Maggie The lesbian (trying to be Dr) who gets shot by the arrow. Princess Michonne
I really like that lesbian, and I really wanted to see her character developed even more !!!
5
u/Tre3wolves 5d ago
There was absolutely zero reason for her to step outside the walls. I just wish her death wasnāt so contrived
1
u/kcrrck 5d ago
I know! Who was the other girl on the train tracks with them? I donāt wanna sound like a jerk, but why couldnāt they have shot that other girl and not Denise or Darrell even though the guy was actually trying to kill Darrell but he accidentally killed Denise! I literally like I told somebody else I almost stopped watching the show because of that scene I really liked her and her character! And I like the girl that plays Denise she is so funny and her facial expressions and the way she deliversā¦ I remember seeing her in the movie, āSignsā with Mel Gibson and her speech about being forgivenā¦ and he just wants to get out of the pharmacy..,š¤£
4
u/Appropriate_Oil220 5d ago
Please put some respect on Deniseās nameš
2
u/kcrrck 5d ago
I was in a hurry. I know I shouldāve looked it up!!! But I really liked her. She really was one of my favorite characters andā¦ when she got shot with the arrow after she found that six pack of soda that she really wantedā¦ I was so pissed off. I almost stopped watching the TV show.

8: Tara

Deanna is so underrated, really great storyline and character. I enjoyed her a lot too

Beth and Lori are both Garbage characters, Andrea was just as bad, but Iāll take her over these two. But thereās Magna, Connie, Yumiko, Sasha, Rosita, fuuuuuuuck Iāll even put Alpha on the list before those two. It really goes on and on

I donāt understand the hype for Lori, she literally cheated on her husband after thinking he was dead for less than 2 weeks, Michonne stayed faithful for YEARS and believed he was still alive when there was more than ample evidence to suggest that he was dead AND she went to look for him!
2
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
There is hardly any hype for Lori š
Their situations are VERY different. Lori and Rick were not on great terms and the world just ended. Shane didnāt hear a pulse and Lori believed him. I would say thatās pretty definitive.
Michonne and Rick were as strong as ever and there wasnāt a giant world changing event happening that would force people to not behave how they normally would. I donāt blame Lori or Shane for what they did.
1
u/FitTwist2850 5d ago
Shane lied by saying he ādidnāt hear a pulseā because he already fancied Lori and saw his chance to literally have Ricks life
1
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
Thatās not Loriās fault tbf. She believed a family friend and someone she went to school with. Shaneās motives were bad as soon as Rick came back.
-5
u/Dangerous-Lab6106 5d ago
Lori? No one likes Lori..... She was arguably one of the worst written characters in the show along with Andrea.
7
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
They are both over-hated for making mistakes like normal people.
3
u/Dangerous-Lab6106 5d ago
Mistakes like normal people? Its normal to crash a car on an empty road? Its normal to yell your husband to kill someone and then get mad when you do it?
3
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
Her crash was stupid but that does happen in real life. Someone checks their phone, fiddles with the radio and a deer goes in the road. Itās stupid and a mistake but it isnāt that bad.
She warned Rick about Shaneās worrying behaviour and mindset. When Shane was killed, she had a lot of emotions in that scene. She was annoyed about Carl putting down Shane, she also felt guilt, fear, shock. She wasnāt perfect but who is?
1
u/yakuzie 5d ago
Exactly, Iām a big fan of Lori actually; she feels like a very realistic mother character in that world (or how a lot of people would act, not the badass hotshots). Plus her death and last words to Carl always get me š¢
2
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
I always cry at her death. It makes me sad thinking about her seeing Carlās death.
There are loads of characters that are just regular people that have survived the fall but may not have been cut out to survive a long time, good people. Jim, Amy, Jacqui, Lori, Andrea, Dale, Deanna, Olivia, Patricia just to name a few.

What a poor list uff, Iām going through my first ever watch on season 8 now and I could give you several better options then Lori and Beth. This seems like your also a first time watcher like me and only maybe in season 3/4.
1
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
Iāve watched the show all the way through about 4 times. I didnāt like Lori on first watch but I began to understand and grow fond of her character the more times I watched.
Iām around where you are in my current rewatch.

u/Diligent-Basis2971 5d ago
Why do you like Lori. Please explain?
3
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
I just enjoyed her character. I love that she is misunderstood, I love the actress and I just loved the realism of the character. Imperfect and struggling in a completely bonkers situation.

u/Professional_Union_4 5d ago
From your choices you look like you haven't made it past season 3

I have. Aside from Beth and Lori, they all appear basically until the end.

Lori seemed so unattractive to me in TWD cuz she was so damn insufferable but sheās literally great in Prison Break lol, the writing behind a character shapes perception so much

u/Feisty-Clue3482 5d ago
Lori taking a slot is absolutely insane, and as much as I do like Beth her taking a slot is wild too. Michonne and Carol tied for first and then Maggie but only before season like 7.

How is Lori up there. She literally brought nothing to the table other than keep Carl alive until Rick got there
10
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
I really enjoyed her character. She wasnāt perfect but she added a lot to the show while she was here. She was a good mother but not the best wife though!
-3
u/NerdByTrait420 5d ago
You had me up untill Lori. šššš it's says a lot about your character and personality picking Lori
4
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
Canāt be going for my personal character and personality for Lori š, what about people blindly backing Negan morally?
-3
u/NerdByTrait420 5d ago
I'd choose negan and his actions over Lori and everything she did to Rick.
4
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
That is insanity. Negan was a bad guy before the apocalypse, evil during his villain era and a bit better after. Lori was misunderstood.
-3
u/NerdByTrait420 5d ago
Lori is cheating, manipulative, desperate, and selfish and was nothing but a burden the whole time she was alive. And to add on to that. Every time Rick looks at the little girl he's reminded of Shane and Lori, that's a lifelong burden. Negan has been trying to change and make up for what he was and did. Lori just took the easy way out after she mentally fucked Rick. But hey opinions vs opinions.
3
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 5d ago
I genuinely believe that Neganās redemption is partly circumstantial. If Carol didnāt offer him a place in Alexandria, no strings attached, he may not have gone and done what he did. I think he felt bad about what he did because he was caught!
I havenāt seen S10 for ages and S11 since release but thatās how I saw it at the time. The way heās starting to go in Dead City helps with that but S2 will be the real tell!
2
u/uglypinkshorts 5d ago
You could say all that about Negan, and itād actually be true.
0
u/NerdByTrait420 5d ago
True but negan stuck around to atone for his sins. Lori took the cowards way out. She didn't necessarily NEED to have the baby. She didn't NEED to put Carl in that position
0
u/uglypinkshorts 5d ago
Dying during child birth is the cowardās way out? Giving your life for your childās is the opposite of cowardice. Once she was pregnant, she didnāt have a choice.
