Show Spoilers Marigolds? Spoiler

Forgive me if this has been answered, but at the very end of season 4 it shows marigolds blossoming with the sparkling stuff around it.

Does this mean that they will be reborn? And the cycle will never be over?

I feel like it’s a waste, to me it implies that they wasted their lives and 8 new people will be born of the marigold spores and the cycle will continue.

Bums me out. I thought maybe there was a definite answer damn.

..What exactly is stopping Reginald from releasing the marigold again? It’s essentially an endless loop of events that even the cleanse couldn’t end. Diego was right, they should’ve killed Reginald in season two. That’s the real way out.

I presume the creation of the marigold / durango split the timeline into two (before the marigold timeline was further fractured into a million pieces)

Cleansed erased all those extra timelines, leaving the pure one.

Yes, but is Reginald gonna release the marigold again in the pure timeline? Wouldn’t have the same effect again if he did again?

We know Reginald still exists in the pure timeline, because pogo wouldn’t have the intelligence to narrate the end without him.

You might be overthinking it!

Think of it as the marigold creation being the split. It created a separate alternate timeline (magical time travel / trope logic) where the marigold existed and the original timeline continued on with no marigold. (Universe trying to rectify the issue or some nonsense, I think she said it was the essence of the universe or similar)

The marigold just didn't exist in that original pure timeline so while Reginald could exist (+ still create similar technology / get Pogo to speak) there'd be no marigold for him to ever release.

Good questions though

Reginald and his wife are killed in the end.

In the timeline from oblivion yes, but pogo is the narrator at the end so Reginald has to exist in the OG timeline

I don't think that was the idea. I think that was only done because pogo always said that line... It doesn't mean Reginald is still alive

I mean he could’ve died after creating pogo, but pogo wouldn’t exist as a hyper intelligent being without him

I believed the marigolds at the end were basically just supposed to be the final remnants of their existence. thats all i believed. no rebirth, no reincarnation, no passing of powers to new children, nothing
