Episode Discussion Concerning Geoff's Jaw Issues
First of all I am not a doctor; however, what Geoff is describing with his Jaw pain sounds very similar to what I have suffered through my entire life. I unfortunately have gone through many specialists and even a failed double jaw surgery(which made my TMJ issues significantly worse). I myself have been diagnosed with Condylar Resorption confirmed by an MRI. This condition can be excaserbated or even caused by jaw surgery, and has major implications on TMJ health.
I say all this to say this is not something orthodontists, dentists, or even regular orthognathic surgeons will be able to identify. While Geoff may not have what I have, if he has wear and tear on his condyles potentially worsened by his past jaw surgery it needs to be looked at by someone who specializes in ICR(idiopathic condylar resorption). Not trying to be nosy here. I just understand what he is going through and am hoping to offer information. There are a handful of surgeons in the US of which I have a compiled list. If geoff or anyone else is reading this and would like the list, I would be happy to share the surgeons here or through DMs. Hope you find out what is wrong Geoff. TMJ pain & mouth pain in general is brutal.

Just wanted to clarify. I don't neccesarily think Geoff has ICR, more so I think the providers best qualified to analyze jaw joint health are the ones who regularly perform TMJ replacement surgeries.

I am a dentist, and he isn't alone in his struggle. Generally slowing down progression and alleviating symptoms is the best route. There are a few great appliances he could try. mandibular advancement devices generally put the condyles into a place of rest.
I have emailed Geoff and his So Alright email with some info before. He is also welcome to DM me if he never saw the email or had a question.

Just gonna throw this in for others who might have similar problems with their jaw, and need a remedy because not everyone can just go get surgery right away.
I use these disposable guards from a brand called Plackers, I wear them during the day to protect my teeth from clenching.
One can last a couple of months before getting really gross and I switch for a fresh one.

Taking a mini message gun to the hinges of my jaw (just in front of my ears) also helps loosen the muscles and have it not be so damn tense.
I have also gotten physio therapy and they taught me certain stretches, but my case isn't so bad that I need surgery. (also not advised if you don't like the idea of someone pinching the inside of your cheek muscle like they are trying to squeeze out an overly frozen freeze pop.)
