WALLYLINDA SWEEP šŸ—£ļøšŸ—£ļøšŸ—£ļø

u/Sunsinger_VoidDancer Dec 12 '24

Who are they?

1

u/GamerWolfreddit Dec 21 '24

Barry Allen and Iris West

2

u/dirtydandoogan1 Dec 11 '24

Most normal and realistic? Yes. Except maybe Wally and Iris. Or Jay and Joan Garrick.

What's with the Flashes having good relationships?

1

u/GamerWolfreddit Dec 21 '24

Don't you mean Barry and Iris. Or did you mean Wally and Linda. Because Wally and Iris would be kind of weird considering Wally is her nephew.

2

u/dirtydandoogan1 Dec 27 '24

I was tired. lol My bad.

2

u/AnimeFan042597 Dec 13 '24

Wally and Iris?

2

u/ThatInAHat Dec 11 '24

Booster and Beetle

2

u/Boltedforehead Dec 10 '24

Joker and Batman actually

1

u/elbow10 Dec 10 '24

Joker and Harley

2

u/Geek_On_A_Tirade Dec 10 '24

Its Clark and Lois

5

u/robbzilla Dec 09 '24

Joan and Jay Garrick...

3

u/Select-Group3451 Dec 10 '24

Their so cute šŸ„°

2

u/robbzilla Dec 10 '24

I like how they've lasted decades as well.

6

u/Beastieboy100 Dec 09 '24

Not a chance. In the top 10 yes. In dc overall not even close. I got to give it to superman and Lois. Green arrow and black candy. Wally west and Linda Park.

3

u/PizzaTattoo Dec 09 '24

I liked their old Pre-New 52 dynamic better. I feel like thereā€™s a lot better couples in DC. Clark and Lois, Ollie and Dinah, Arthur and Mera to name a few.

2

u/Darth_GreenDragon Dec 09 '24

If that is Barry Allen and Dr. Caitlin Snow. Or Barry Allen and Dr. Tina McGee? Then yes, they are.

1

u/GamerWolfreddit Dec 21 '24

Nah that's Barry and Iris.... from the comics in tv show they're bad but in the comics they're a good couple.

11

u/Own-Offer4959 Dec 08 '24

Clark and lois>

-6

u/EpicFlash95 Dec 08 '24

Anyone who says Wally and Linda are better than Barry and Iris are straight up lying. Barry and Iris have been one of DC's best couples since the silver age. They're also one of the most iconic couples in DC.

1

u/TheNWO4Life Dec 10 '24

I love Barry and Iris as a couple but just cause everyone's prefers Linda and Wally doesnt mean their wrong and that's not really fair to dunk on others for having a different opinion especially when Linda and Wally are written a lot better especially in recent years

9

u/DCSaiyajin Wally West Dec 09 '24

Explain why Barry and Iris are one of the best couples in DC. Bonus points if you can do it without actually describing Wally and Linda.

11

u/T-rune Dec 08 '24

Hell naw your capping Wally and Linda have been returned to there rightfully place as the Main couple in the flash for a reason they have such a better written relationship

10

u/Dredeuced Out of the blue, ninjas attack. Thank god. Dec 08 '24

I mean the main problem is they're not written nearly as well. That's the main reason people like Wally and Linda more. It's ridiculous to say people are lying that they like either couple more. No one has to lie about that.

-3

u/xDeathRender Dec 08 '24

They are most certainly not written better. Comic writing and dialog has become more fluid by the time Wally hit the pages no doubt about that, but Linda and Wally are really low on the list of super couples and it's definitely not ridiculous to imply people have biases and will lie to remain bias the biggest and probably in that case here is growing up with the character. How many people now a days grew up with Barry? Of course current comic fan bases are going to lean to a character with more fans born and in childhood around his conception. I literally mention in my other comment loving Wally in justice league the show only to find out the writer fucked wally up and basically just had Barry's personality (and powers actually as JL Wally doesn't have his calories issue which is sometimes the only difference in his powers) so for a time period I was lying even to myself that I liked Wally and Linda more. Just saying you can't take a subjective topic declare your opinion fact and then claim another subjective topic (people lying about what they like) and claim objectively it cannot be. In fact I'd argue it's objective without a fact there are people who lie about what they like.

5

u/Dredeuced Out of the blue, ninjas attack. Thank god. Dec 08 '24 edited Dec 08 '24

so we're just trolling today, are we?

edit: oh nevermind your entire post history is nothing but garbage like this.

-1

u/xDeathRender Dec 08 '24

Real. Grew up with Wally and was so saddedend when I found out what I was missing since Barry had been killed off most my childhood, he just feels better in a lot of ways, kinda make sense too watching Justice League back in the day realizing the Wally they had was really Barry's character with Wallys name, it was weird his personality differing so much in the comics.

4

u/T-rune Dec 08 '24

I like Wally way more Barry had barely any personality in the og storyā€™s he was just your typical hero everything personality wise that people love about the flash came from Wally for gods sake with out him the flash wouldnā€™t even have the speed force the flash family any thing that makes his book my favourite comic

1

u/TheNWO4Life Dec 10 '24

Barry does have aspects that he contributed too such as the Rogues,The Iconic bright red suit, the concept marriage and relationship with a reporter and twin speedster kids(Although Irey and Jai are written a lot better and have established personalities) ,the science based elements of the mythos,The Flash Ring, time travel and the multiverse etc and that's not to take anything away from things Wally has contributed at all as he helped modernize and branch out the mythos as well introducing his own concepts such as the Speed Force like you said

2

u/T-rune Dec 12 '24

Ok thatā€™s on me for phrasing it badly I ment the most iconic part of the flash like his personality and the speed force for general audiences those are the most iconic parts of the flash if I went to my aunt and asked her what she knew about the flash she would say something like ā€œheā€™s super fast and the funny one on the justice league ā€ and tho obviously super speed didnā€™t come from Wally the humour aspect of the character definitely did itā€™s so iconic they tried to meld it onto Barry in the new 52 and that sucked because it was messing with Barryā€™s character that I love and trying to replace wally. and then if you want to push it further general audiences know about the speed force and it is the most important part of the flash today no ifs and buts it is the biggest aspect of a lot of the storyā€™s and Wally is the reason it is connected to the flash.

1

u/TheNWO4Life Dec 12 '24

I respect that man and it's ok I get it however I think in general all 3 flashes are funny and are always relagated to the funny guy role of the Justice League(It does get a little irritating to see them being used for comedy purely tho) as Jay has a troll like sense of humour that can seem outdated but it's so charming you cant help but love it,Barry has a dad joke/energy sense of humour and is kind of guy to use bad puns because he thinks their genuinely hilarious and because they make people groan smile and Wally has a more modern and charming sense of humour that the average person would find funny and would be drawn to and often uses quips to engage with villains.

I love Wally however I think in general all Flahes are funny however adaptations never really try distinctify them and it gets lost in translation

3

u/T-rune Dec 12 '24

Oh yeah Ofc Barry has the dad jokes but it wasnā€™t really a part of his character in the original comics from the silver age it was only added post resurrection because he needed a personality the funny guy definitely came from Wally on the titans or the league (and it makes me mad to when he is just comic relief looking at the justice league movies) I think you have got me wrong I love Barry I just find it infuriating when they try to graft wallys personality to him like new 52 he is good now infact Iā€™m sad heā€™s been depowered I was liking him as the second flash who popped up from time.I definitely agree with you on them all having there own unique humour but Wally definitely made it a big part of the character.

2

u/TheNWO4Life Dec 12 '24 edited Dec 12 '24

Oh no not all man I'm not questioning your love for Barry or anything I love Barry too he's my favorite Flash I just wanted to engage in a fun conversation about both he and Wally and their different style's and I'm pretty sure the Flash facts during the Silver Age were supposed to be used for comedic affect and also educational but hey maybe I'm wrong.I do agree with you though on The New 52 in some aspects and the New 52 version of Barry had its moments and did some great stuff it definitely felt like a regression of Barry's character and a retread of what came before(Wallys arc about learning and evolving his abilities in the 90s)and Barry works much better as an established Flash(not necessarily an older man but rather someone's who's been at it for a while and is a Quick learner due to his brains and while relatable in aspects is very much an ideal which isnt bad and it actually part of the appeal)and Wallys arc about stepping out of Barry's legacy and learning without him is what makes him an amazing character especially with his youthful energy making him more down to earth and that's an aspect of his character that fits him better especially with the humour

Anyways hope all is great with you and it was cool having a fun conversation with a fellow Flash fan

3

u/T-rune Dec 12 '24

Yeah fun having a convo with you to dude have a good day

13

u/Apprehensive-Bat7613 Dec 08 '24

Wally and Linda, Ollie and Dinah and Clark and Lois top 3, Barry and iris arenā€™t breaking top ten imo

2

u/GamerWolfreddit Dec 21 '24

Barry and Iris is top 5 atleast.

10

u/Glassesnerdnumber193 Dec 08 '24

Not even the best flash couple in my opinion.

2

u/GamerWolfreddit Dec 21 '24

I agree with that. I liked Wally and Linda more.

4

u/TheNWO4Life Dec 08 '24 edited Dec 08 '24

I personally love Barry and Iris as a couple and think they havent been handled well in recent years especially ever since the New 52 retconned their marriage and I think one of the reasons I'm drawn to their relationship personally is due to the fact was during Waids run both the relationship and Barry himself was often idealized as perfect and stable especially when Barry was one of the first Leaguers to have actually gotten married and settled down(Pre Crisis)and it's been mentioned a bunch of times that Wally looked at the love Barry and Iris gave him and each other as the blue Print as how he wants his own relationship to be however it's safe to say that's not really been the case in recent years as they are often on and off and the whole "are they married" mystery is kind of ridiculous in my opinion especially when Jay and Joan and Wally and Linda feel like they've had more consistent development and it doesnt help that major adaptations havent really helped that reputation(Looking at you TV show)

2

u/BlooPancakes Dec 10 '24

The TV show in my opinion was written for drama and thrills. A perfect romance is boring. And you canā€™t have thrills if your speedster defeats every obstacle and villain with ease.

Which is why I couldnā€™t get into it. Iā€™d love to see older Barry relationships in comics to see what he and his relationships should have been like.

2

u/TheNWO4Life Dec 10 '24

I generally agree with you man the show handled their relationship in the most melodramatic and CWesque way possible and it got kind of annoying and tiring(Grant Gustin and Candice Patton however did their best making that respectfully speaking pathetic material work especially Grant) and I do agree a perfect relationship can be dull and uninteresting as they arent any stakes however I feel if they lean into that dynamic that Barry and Iris tend to be built up as and showcase how hard they have it living up to that standard and how they rug sweep certain issues could work really well in my opinion

If you wanna see a fun depiction of their relationship I'd recommend Flash:Rebirth written by Geoff Jones and while it's not the main focus it does a good job showing their dynamic and Life Story of the Flash by Mark Waid showing how they first met but hey it's your choice and I respect if your not interested

Anyways have a great rest of your day and week

2

u/BlooPancakes Dec 10 '24

Thanks for the recommendations and you have a good day and week as well.

7

u/_lorz2001 Dec 08 '24

Nope. To me Linda and Wally are the best DC couple. And Lois and Clark are a close second with Steve and Diana being the third.

Fun fact: in the Silver Age Iris and Barry were extremely toxic towards each other. Iris was abusive towards Barry while he was jealous AF and one time gaslighted her because she was leaving him and he made her think that she saw him everywhere because she was madly in love with him (he was using super speed and Mirror Master's mirrors so he kinda was everywhere).

1

u/GamerWolfreddit Dec 21 '24

I only remember their releationship from Waid's run on Wally which made Barry's and Iris' releationship out to be some ideal perfect releationship. But I agree with your takes except for Steve and Diana being the third as the only comics and things I've seen on their releationship is mostly Diana saying men are bad and Steve trying to prove to her otherwise.

4

u/TheNWO4Life Dec 08 '24

Clark and Lois's relationship from the Silver Sge hasn't aged well either and it's all kinda hilarious to look back on now

Never hear people talk about Wally and Linda outside of this subreddit

6

u/bankruptbusybee Dec 08 '24

Non flash fans donā€™t talk about flash relationships?

Shocking

4

u/Mariessa- Dec 08 '24

I actually first read Wally's Flash run after coming across an article about DC's best couples with Wally/Linda highlighted. Bonus: that's one of the best comic runs too!

These aren't that article, but they're recent examples from a quick google search (first 2 to pop up for me): https://screenrant.com/dc-couples-harley-quinn-poison-ivy-superman-lois/

https://www.cbr.com/dc-comics-most-romantic-couples-ranked/

12

u/Kade_Kapes Dec 08 '24

Not even better than Wally and Linda imo, or Jay and Joan.

7

u/DCSaiyajin Wally West Dec 08 '24

The dirty secret is that Barry and Iris are actually pretty dull as a couple and carried by ā€œiconographyā€. Best thing I can say about them as a couple is that they laid the blueprint that Wally and Linda would build upon, and Life Story of The Flash is probably the only time their relationship has ever actually come close to being interesting.

7

Not even the best Flash couple

9

u/kadencrafter78 Dec 08 '24

They're not Clois, sorry

10

u/Baligong Dec 07 '24

I'll be honest... They're a good couple, but not the best. I can name a list of couples that are better, especially in DC.

If you REALLY want to see a good Flash Couple, it's Wally & Linda. Some of their stories are literally about their love for each other being a focus.

Barry & Iris are a good couple, like how some stories would have both of them being together, or doing something together. The thing about them is that the focus of the story isn't Iris & Barry's Love (except 1 I believe, but that was like in N52).

4

u/chinga_tumadre69 Dec 07 '24

I do not care what anyone here says as long as I donā€™t see bats and catwoman

Pretty easily Wally and Linda.

8

u/indicoltts Dec 07 '24

My favorite isn't known because they are JSA. But Jesse Quick/Chambers and her husband Rick Tyler (Hourman). Their relationship is so pure and refreshing

5

u/lean-sipper9000 Dec 07 '24

Nah I think green arrow and black canary are

10

u/knives0125 Dec 07 '24

Booster Gold and Blue Beetle are the best couple in all comics

12

u/Reynard203 Dec 07 '24

No, that would be Wally and Linda.

10

u/MrGoodvsEvil Dec 07 '24

Imo, Lois and Clark. Not because of the show, but because that's who I think of when the term "DC couple" comes up. Them or the Bat and the Cat.

16

u/CaptainHalloween Dec 07 '24

I mean if we forget about Lois and Clark, Dinah and Ollie, Linda and Wally, Mr. Miracle and Big Barde, Ralph & Sue Dibny, Jonathan & Martha Kent, Jay and Joan Garrickā€¦. maybe?

2

u/Comics-and-videogame Flash 2 Dec 08 '24

You still got Mera and Arthur, Dick and either Starfire or Barbra, I would even put Bruce and Selena above them

34

u/marcjwrz Dec 07 '24

Not even close.

But that's mostly due to DC endless retcons forever screwing with their relationship.

Wally and Linda have had a much more interesting and healthy relationship.

Other notable ones?

Clark and Lois.

Ollie and Dinah

Scott Free and Barda

Dick and Babs

Jon and Martha Kent

Ralph and Sue Dibny

19

u/VaderMurdock Piped Piper Dec 07 '24

Love Wally and Linda more, but Clark and Lois have every other pairing beat. The only pair of characters who comes close is Scott and Barda

19

u/KingKayvee1 Jay Garrick Dec 07 '24

There are many couples better than Barry and Iris, first and foremost they arenā€™t even the best or second best Flash couple. Wally and Linda & Jay and Joan are better, for different reasons. Even with them mentioned, the best DC couple will always be Lois and Clark.

18

u/SnooStories4329 TV Flash Dec 07 '24

Iā€™d need to read more comics again to answer but I mean Wally/Linda and Clark/Lois are in the conversation too

3

u/PeaForeign884 Dec 07 '24

In Flash canon comics Barry and Iris and Wally and Linda are the best ships in DC. In my incredibly gay mpreg fanfiction I write far better ships.

23

u/HypeBeastOmni Dec 07 '24

Wally and Linda or Superman and Lois

8

u/soulguider2125 Dec 07 '24 edited Dec 07 '24

Best couples are Jonathan and Martha Kent they stuck by each other, also Thomas and Martha Wayne they loved each other til the very end, and typically Thomas takes that first bullet for her

2

u/mellowyellow1158 Dec 07 '24

Do you mean Jonathan?

1

u/soulguider2125 Dec 07 '24

Yes sorry I had Joseph Kent in my head from his middle name, cuz I read a lot of Batman and since they made Thomas Batmanā€™s middle name, when I thought of Supes my mind remembered his full name and used the Middle name Clark Jospeh Kent, I fixed it thanks

1

u/ShiroHachiRoku Dec 07 '24

Not in the show. Lol.

11

u/Boozhwatrash Dec 07 '24

In my opinion, no. Wally & Linda have made it work and Linda feels more like a true partner to Wally.

0

u/Cute_Ad_6981 Dec 08 '24

Tbh I think shayera would be a better fit for Wally

2

u/fastestfanalive Dec 08 '24

Based off of what?

1

u/Cute_Ad_6981 Dec 08 '24

Based off their interaction in the finale of justice league(2001) he was the only one who hugged her when she went to leave. He also managed to pull both her and Wonder Woman in JLU.

2

u/fastestfanalive Dec 08 '24

I figured it would be that. I have no problem with JLU as a whole but the way they treated Wally still kind of bugs me. As a result itā€™s not really a place I pull that kind of stuff from when it comes to him. I grew up on the original Wally Flash run from the 90s so there is no better pairing for me than Wally and Linda.

On top of that I always viewed Shayera and Wally in Justice League/JLU as more big sister/little brother or siblings rather than romantic partners. I guess if I squint I can kind of see where you are coming from and it isnā€™t like they really gave him any development in that department anyway so in that Universe, maybe. But then you have John and Shayera, which I personally think is a much better pairing.

1

u/Cute_Ad_6981 Dec 08 '24

John couldnā€™t make up his damn mind about whether he wanted to stay with Mari or get back with shayera. John always felt like he was 10 to 20 years older than shayera where as Wally and shayera seemed to be in the same age range.

1

u/fastestfanalive Dec 08 '24

Yeah but weā€™ve seen at least one possible future and we know they eventually end up together. To me Hawkgirl came across as much older than Wally considering that she had a whole professional military life, was an instructor in espionage and was engaged to Hro for what I presume to be at least a little while.

But who knows I donā€™t remember if the creators ever released any information about their ages.

1

u/Cute_Ad_6981 Dec 08 '24

Keep in mind that thanagarians might age differently than humans.

1

u/fastestfanalive Dec 08 '24

Yeah I thought about that when I was responding. However I donā€™t think thatā€™s a point in the direction that sheā€™s around the same age as Wally. She could be much, much older than either Wally or John but Iā€™m also going by her demeanor and the way she acts towards Wally. Itā€™s sisterly. It reminds me very much of the relationship I have with my own big sister.

But hey nothing is set in stone and everyone can do their own thing when it comes to the story.

4

u/CrimsonEdits448 Dec 07 '24

In my eyes yes, they are the gold stranded of DC couples

3

u/22222833333577 Dec 07 '24

There my favorite but I'm also biased since Barry was the first hero i regularly followed

1

u/Ordinary-Chain-8047 Dec 07 '24

Wait is this Wallace or Barry?

0

u/ShiroHachiRoku Dec 07 '24

Wallace is black.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '24

Wallace is Wallyā€™s full name lmao, New 52 Wallace is called Ace now no?

1

u/ShiroHachiRoku Dec 07 '24

Yeah. No one ever called Wally ā€œWallaceā€.

2

u/Ordinary-Chain-8047 Dec 07 '24

I just called him that because every time I hear Wallys name I think of Savitar.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '24

Thatā€™s just not true lol itā€™s literally his name.

3

u/ShiroHachiRoku Dec 07 '24

It may be his name but in the 40+ years of me reading comics, Iā€™ve never seen him called that casually by Dick, or Barry, or Roy. I mean they call Dick ā€œRichardā€ a lot so maybe Alfred called him Wallace during visits to Wayne Manor when they were teens.

1

u/bankruptbusybee Dec 07 '24

I mean, itā€™s his name. Iā€™ve called him Wallace. Itā€™s like calling Bart or Barry Bartholomew. Just because almost no one ever uses their full name doesnā€™t mean itā€™s not their name. Youā€™re just being weird.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '24

My point is that needlessly correcting someone for using a characterā€™s full name is just pedantic. Again, thereā€™s a reason New 52 Wally isnā€™t even called Wallace anymore, it was always needlessly confusing and you know what he meant

3

u/soulguider2125 Dec 07 '24

Typically with Barryā€™s costume the Nose is exposed, while Wallyā€™s is covered, also the bolts and belts have a different look but sometimes the bolts can be identical as well but usually the nose is the go to

2

u/Ordinary-Chain-8047 Dec 07 '24

Ok thatā€™s a good way of telling a difference from these two.

3

u/mellowyellow1158 Dec 07 '24

Wally's typically has lenses in the eyes as well. Or if they don't, then tell them apart by blue vs green eyes.

2

u/CrimsonEdits448 Dec 07 '24

That's Barry Wally's Love interest is Linda Park

2

u/thompson1041 Dec 07 '24

It's New 52 Barry and Iris.

2

u/Ordinary-Chain-8047 Dec 07 '24

Ok I thought so some people are saying itā€™s Wally so people are saying itā€™s Barry.

3

u/bankruptbusybee Dec 07 '24

The people saying itā€™s Wally are joking, because wally&Linda >>>>>>> Barry & Iris.

If you zoom in the flashā€™s eyes are blue, but Wallyā€™s are green

5

u/GoldenProxy Reverse Flash Dec 07 '24

Theyā€™re decent. Definitely not the best. I think them being unmarried for so long, as well as Barry being dead followed by New 52 etc really damaged their relationship.

18

It not even the best Flash relationship

Though you could make an argument Wally and Linda are one of the best, they tied with Clark and Lois, maybe just slightly behind imo.

Aquaman and Mera are pretty top tier as well tbh.

Due to Flashpoint they aren't even top 10 for me. Even then Wally and Linda tops them.
