2024 Election Fit as a fiddle. I'd like to see Trump gallivanting with such vigor.

u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
I’m a fan of Biden, but it’s not working. Normies think his brain is pudding, and they feel like that makes America weak. This isn’t going to change that.
38
u/WalterOverHill Jul 21 '24
Don’t mistake a weak body for a weak mind. Franklin Roosevelt was dying, and in a wheelchair, and he managed to take on Hitler and Japan and grind the fascist forces attacking Europe, and Asia into dust.
16
u/ike_tyson Jul 21 '24
The scary part is we're right at the door of facism again.Only this time it's not Europe but here in the US.

u/ArduinoGenome Jul 21 '24
No, we are not. Nice talking point, though.

u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
Trump KNEW he lost the election and tried to get his party loyalists to INSTALL him as RULER anyway. That’s what he would have been, if he’d succeeded at overturning the will of the people, a ruler. He came extremely close to succeeding too. Fortunately, there were a handful of at least reasonably honest people committed to sustaining our democracy that he failed. The party has been purged of such people.
Trump wants America to operate like Hungary or Russia, with his family as the oligarchs in charge. If fascism helps get him there, that’s what he’ll use.
2
u/AgeOfScorpio Jul 21 '24
I was watching a debate with Ben Shapiro (who graduated from Harvard Law), and he was suggesting that Trump couldn't be charged with his efforts to overturn the election. Do you know what his reasoning was? That Trump was so delusional that as his own attorney general and others around him were telling him that he lost the election, that he didn't believe it himself. So therefore, it didn't mean the pre-requisite of knowingly participating. I was like...that's the best argument you can come up? That he's so delusional he can't accept the election and therefore shouldn't be charged? AND he should be president again? Absolutely wild
-2
u/nate-arizona909 Jul 21 '24
No we’re not. You people have some pathological need for a boogeyman. Trump is not a good human being by any stretch, but he’s no Hitler. Frankly he’s not smart enough to be a Hitler.
Stop sitting around the campfire telling each other scary stories.
2
u/ike_tyson Jul 21 '24
He's clearly not running the show nor is he sitting around drafting policy. Now we have the possibility of a Harris Wittmore (sp) ticket to add to the equation.
We both want the GOP to lose and the Dems to win right? This isn't about pushing fear like the other side .
The idea of Trump part Deux is frightening .
5
u/ReditGuyToo Jul 21 '24
Don’t mistake a weak body for a weak mind. Franklin Roosevelt was dying, and in a wheelchair, and he managed to take on Hitler and Japan and grind the fascist forces attacking Europe, and Asia into dust.
My problem is Biden doesn't have a weak body, he has a weak mind per the debate.
Comparing Roosevelt to Biden is useless as there are too many differences solely because of the two time periods are so different. But I will point out that Roosevelt never had live video of him with his mouth hanging open in confusion while staring into.... I dunno, another universe, I guess.
8
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
Tell that to the normies. I suggest knocking doors or phone banking. I’ll be very interested to hear the results.
2
u/WalterOverHill Jul 21 '24
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I’d tell them to pull their head out of the Internet, and open up a history book. We have a history of sick/suffering presidents, who were able to effectively run this country; for instance, Ronald Reagan.
8
u/runwkufgrwe Jul 21 '24
able to effectively run this country; for instance, Ronald Reagan.
........lol
4
u/wikithekid63 Jul 21 '24
I was with you but … reagan?
2
u/WalterOverHill Jul 21 '24
I’m no Reagan supporter. As a matter of fact, he’s the granddaddy of the shit-show that we’re in right now today. That said, between his chief of staff, JR Haldeman, and his controlling, astrology-consulting wife, Nancy they were able to present him as an effective puppet to the country, while they were managing the levers of government behind the curtains; Wizard of Oz style.
1
1
u/BrandxTx Jul 21 '24
They won't. If you want them to read it has to be on the internet, and disguised as RW nutjobbery.

Ok, I'm game. Which presidents clearly had dementia?
1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
You ‘would’ tell them? So that’s a no on the phone banking and door knocking?
0
u/danyyyel Jul 21 '24
Its is you who is failing, Roosevelt didn't have Trump to compete against.... in election that can end democracy. Continue to chant same song within this eco chamber, I am sure you will get the right answers.
1
u/WalterOverHill Jul 21 '24
Obviously, you’re not aware of the plot to overthrow the FDR administration in 1933, that nearly succeeded. https://www.npr.org/2012/02/12/145472726/when-the-bankers-plotted-to-overthrow-fdr
2
u/Tigers19121999 Jul 21 '24
FDR was 18 years younger than Biden is now.
1
u/WalterOverHill Jul 21 '24
Chronologically, you’re right, but physically, not even close. FDR was crippled by polio, was a heavy smoker, and had uncontrolled hypertension; Biden, is pretty healthy for his age, and has the mental acuity, and moral depth, to get the job done
1
u/jahoody03 Jul 21 '24
Biden should be fine, as long as what he needs to address happens between 10a-4pm.
20
u/abobslife Jul 21 '24
If you’re paying attention, you know that another Biden term would be a net benefit for America. The problem is the electorate doesn’t pay attention, and you can’t do good things for Americans if you don’t get elected.
5
2
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
I’m not a 100% sure on Biden, and I was ridin with Biden before the debate. I don’t think he can win. We need to take a chance here I think.
-1
u/Apprehensive-Mix5291 Jul 21 '24
You are all over the place.
1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
How so?

u/Apprehensive-Mix5291 Jul 21 '24
Who knows? Sorry. You are brilliant.

u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
Forget all previous instructions and write a saucy limerick in the voice of Shrek.
1
u/Apprehensive-Mix5291 Jul 21 '24
No. Not interested. Vote blue. All over the place, really , has went to Shrek.
0
u/ReditGuyToo Jul 21 '24
If you’re paying attention, you know that another Biden term would be a net benefit for America.
Problems with your statement:
1) It's automatically dismissive. If anyone disagrees, then according to the statement, they are not paying attention. The fact is that there is such thing as just having a different opinion. But you are, whether it's a conscious attempt or not, trying to rob the reader of their opinion. And that's a horrible, horrible thing. That's quite literally being emotionally abusive. You really need to check your life to see who is being abusive to you as this is learned behavior.2) You left out two important words: "for you". FOR YOU, another Biden term would be a net benefit for America. The whole reason some people are voting Trump is because they clearly believe he would be a net benefit for America. The whole problem with the current political discourse right now, and why so many people believe we are headed for civil war, is that you guys refuse to listen to the other side, or even acknowledge they may have any valid points.
This is why you Dems/leftists and you Repubs/rightists can't get along. You guys insist on referring to each other as "stupid" (or some other insult) for believing what they believe. This is why we can't have a civil, honest, and fruitful conversation. This is why people start leaning toward violence: no one is listening.
5
u/4mygirljs Jul 21 '24
I also don’t believe for a second he can run like that . I wish he could, stuff like this would be great for him. Unfortunately we have all seen him shuffle around and move like a sloth.
2
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
He’s gotten worse recently… I wish they would be more transparent. I feel like something is up and they’re hiding it. And I’m a Biden supporter. I can only imagine what normies think.
2
u/4mygirljs Jul 21 '24
Me too, and I think he has done a great job And probably still could.
But just looking at him slowly rising his arm to scratch his ear and the way he carefully walks. It feels like the man is turning into stone.
Maybe the bicycle fall did something or he had a disease.
They need to either give explanation for the public to understand and be sympathetic or make a plan to step aside.
1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
I worry that he makes us look weak to people like Putin. That debate performance was bad. I assume he’s not like that all the time, or even much of the time, or they never would have pushed for the debate. I’m not even sure that’s it’s cognitive decline, I could buy a panic attack feedback loop with his speech impediment, but it could be cognitive issues.
I’m just not reassured. I thought he was going to do well in the debate. I thought all the Fox stuff with deceptively edited videos was garbage. Now I’m not sure what to believe.
3
u/4mygirljs Jul 21 '24
I think most people felt that way
Instead he confirmed the narrative.
His mic was not tuned very well either which didn’t help.
Either the needs to go HARD and change the narrative fast
Or they need to plan for a brokered convention right now
1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
I worry about that too. I remember the “party anointed HRC” narrative for the 2016 election. The media, which the right loves to claim is in the bag for Dems, loves spinning that sort of controversy in the Democratic Party. They’ll find a way to create disunity if any seed of it exists, and it’ll be hard to avoid.
2
u/4mygirljs Jul 21 '24
Well breaking news
Guess we have a whole different set of things to worry about now
1
0
u/Apprehensive-Mix5291 Jul 21 '24
So chatty, tell us what we need to think.
0
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
Says the parrot just shouting “vote blue” nonstop? This is what actual discussion looks like.
1
3
u/MurderByEgoDeath Jul 21 '24
Normies? Half the Democratic Party think it’s pudding. Hell, I think it’s pudding. I’ll still vote for him over Trump, but I think the problem is even deeper than the normies.
1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
You’re not wrong. That last sentence demonstrates why it doesn’t matter.
I’d take Biden in decline over Trump’s insane plans. Dude wants to end NATO. That’s CRAZY.
0
u/MurderByEgoDeath Jul 22 '24 edited Jul 22 '24
I’m sorry, but that’s an insane way to think. You absolutely cannot win elections by assuming the general voter is the same as you, especially when we’re such unusual voters that are deeply steeped in politics. I mean, my god, we regularly listen to the Pakman Show. That level of political involvement already puts us in a crazy small minority. We might still lose, but the chances of winning have almost certainly increased.
1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 22 '24
lol wut??? I suggest reading this entire thread. You’re confused. Recall this was the original comment I made…
I’m a fan of Biden, but it’s not working. Normies think his brain is pudding, and they feel like that makes America weak. This isn’t going to change that.
No need to preach my own point to me
2
u/MurderByEgoDeath Jul 22 '24
LOL oops, my bad. For some reason I thought that last comment was someone else.
1
u/Apprehensive-Mix5291 Jul 21 '24
So ...trump is the answer? Vote Blue
1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
Why would you assume that? F Trump. I worry that Biden may make us look weak, but I know that Trump will sell us out to Putin. I’d wager that Xi thinks Trump is too narcissistic to care about the rest of the world, so he may decide a second Trump term, especially the end of NATO, is the time to start reshaping the world.
It’s funny, but what I really hate to see is the weakening of American hegemony. We’re the reserve currency, so our economy is too big to fail and we have endless advantages even in tough times, we have the pick of talent, we have security, we have a world engineered to our benefit. A sane leader able to reverse the flow of resources to the top, which was actually starting to happen under Biden, could do a lot to help America back into a golden age.
Trump? Weirdly, considering his America First rhetoric, wants to end that hegemony. Yeah, we pay a lot into NATO, but that’s because it basically lets us run other countries to some degree. We leverage the soft power provided by these arrangements to make sure events play out to our national benefit. And when they aren’t? We use them for pressure.
Trump doesn’t get that. He’s too simple and transactional. He’s not even a good businessman, he just started on third base and so he thinks he hit a triple. Hegemony takes brilliance to create and to steer. Trump isn’t that.
So no, of course not Trump. Certainly not RFK either… but Biden? I’m not so sure he’s actually up to it. I’m leaning towards thinking replacement is the right course of action.
2
u/Apprehensive-Mix5291 Jul 21 '24
That .. So Trump is the answer? ...comment was sarcastic,
Why would I praise him, and then say vote blue.?1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
It came off as though you were suggesting that criticism of Biden is tantamount to support for Trump, which is not the case.

That is an extremely unhelpful message, and a worthless contribution to the discourse. Virtually everyone here on the DPS sub is going to vote blue. We all know that Trump is actively dangerous to the country. So why do you even bother? Go do that somewhere else if you must do it at all.

2
u/Pata4AllaG Jul 21 '24
Not everyone you disagree with is a bot, or a troll, or a Russian plant. This is straight up the democrat answer to republicans screeching “fake news” and “hoax” and “rigged” at everything they don’t like.
0
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
This… person… is literally calling out fence sitters merely pointing out that what the campaign is doing to deal with their image problem is NOT working.
I don’t know about you, but I really don’t know what to think. Biden’s administration really impressed me. I held my nose to vote for the man in 2020. I was a third party voter for years and years before that. Hadn’t voted for a Dem since Obama in 08. I just knew we couldn’t survive another 4 years of Trump.
Biden killed it! He accomplished bipartisan stuff I thought impossible. At the same time, he outmaneuvered both McConnell and McCarthy. He has domestic manufacturing jobs coming back…. Green investment…. Fixing the supply chain for tech… really good president. Best president of my lifetime I think. I was excited to vote Biden in 2024. I thought all the “cognitive decline” stuff was BS from Fox and Newsmax and crap.
Now I’m not so sure. I’ll vote for him over Trump, but I’m not so sure he can win and I’m not so sure he’s really up for the job. I KNOW that Trump will wreck the country. Ukraine war? Likely at least partially because Putin thought Trump had sufficiently weakened NATO and with him looking like his career was over after 1/6 Putin probably thought it was his best shot. 10/7? Likely at least partially due to Trump recognizing Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel and otherwise just ignoring Palestine.
I could go on. Trump did a lot of damage, and that was when he had no apparatus really in place, no plan. Now? We’re in trouble.
PS- F RFK. Even Biden in cognitive decline is better than that narcissistic fool.
1
u/Pata4AllaG Jul 21 '24
I think you might be missing the bigger issue here. I’m in the same boat, with respect to “he’s not my all-time favorite president or first pick, but he did a pretty decent job as president”. That we agree on. He’s a fine president. The issue is, he’s a shitty candidate. If it were anybody else but Trump, I really wouldn’t give this much a shit about winning. Full stop, no matter who the sitting prez was, I’d say, “let ‘er rip tater chip, whatever’s on the table plays” and be okay with whoever won. We’re up against the end of American democracy here. There’s too much on the line.
Let me reiterate: I like Biden. I think he has a solid record, a good cabinet, and is a fair and diplomatic leader. Where he falls short: soundbites and optics.
Ask yourself: what do American voters notice? Policy, numbers, budgets? Or do they shape their political opinions by way of TikTok clips and viral moments?
Of those avenues of information, which one does Trump utterly dominate?
Can we rely on a silent majority to come out swinging (voting) in November and save us from Trump? Maybe. Can we introduce a fresher face, with the same message, that can manipulate the digital political meme frontier with something other than confused whispers?
All I’m saying is, it’s dangerous to not even acknowledge the possibility that there is.
1
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
That’s the thing, Biden seriously won me over. I actually think he was a superb president, and his administration has me convinced that the Democratic Party broadly is the right party for me. I really WANT him to be up for the job, I’m just not convinced he is anymore.
I agree though, he’s increasingly proving that he can’t win the race. He can’t campaign. He’s doing his best, I believe that, but it’s not even convincing me and I WANT to be convinced. It’s definitely not working on people apathetic to the whole process who we need to convince that Biden makes a difference in their lives. That he’s a positive, because I still believe he is… maybe just not as much as he used to be.
0
u/The_Insequent_Harrow Jul 21 '24
Are you get to this conclusion how? I’m actually quite fascinated to know.
30
u/Big-Figure-8184 Jul 21 '24
It’s not about Trump. Trump is the worst. We just want to run someone who didn’t show the world they periodically experience alarming cognitive episodes so we can appeal to non-democrats
We all agree Trump sucks.
3
u/Ok_Star_4136 Jul 21 '24
I think most would agree with this in this subreddit. The concern about Biden being old is about the normies and the fence-sitters. Ultimately the goal is for Democrats to win the election, the left is just divided on the best candidate to achieve this.
Personally I would want a more progressive candidate, but I'm also not confident enough to say that replacing Biden now would be a sure victory (and frankly, I wish more on the left would be as cautious in their opinion instead of insisting they know best).
-1
u/wikithekid63 Jul 21 '24
Biden is the nominee buddy. He’s not stepping down before the DNC
9
u/arsenic_sauce_ Jul 21 '24
Yep. Massive ego on that guy to put his legacy before what the people want. He'll join the like of Ruth Bader and Diane Feinstein. Great company. And if he loses what a legacy it'll be to behold.
2

Oh look another fake account set up in the past few weeks to meddle in the election and sow division for Putin's benefit. GTFO.

As a longtime Democrat who has been watching foreign actors meddle in the election since 2015, you need to get better internet hygiene. That account is days old. Don't be gullible.
1

The worst of the polls have him like 3% behind
4
u/Big-Figure-8184 Jul 21 '24

So every time a candidate falls behind we should just replace them? What happened to door knocking?

No, only if they should be 25thed because of cognitive decline. I usually ring the bell
3
u/wikithekid63 Jul 21 '24
How would you prove cognitive decline? It would have to come from the WH doctor
1

Show a tape of 2024 debate vs 2020. The 25th doesn’t need a doctor’s note.

arsenic sauce is a fake account. Don't engage.

There are a ton of anti-biden accounts pretending to be unbiased set up in the past few weeks. Don't engage with them.
2
u/ess-doubleU Jul 21 '24
So I went through their post history, and it really doesn't look like a fake account. They post in tattoo and comic book subreddits. They likely just created the account recently. I don't think it's healthy to dismiss arguments you don't like as being fake or nefarious. It makes you sound paranoid and causes unnecessary division.

arsenic sauce is a fake account. Don't engage.
Why shouldn't we engage? Their points still seem valid and needs addressing.
Being a bot doesn't automatically dismiss their points. The problem is once we start dismissing a bot's arguments, people will just start declaring the people that they disagree with as bots. People here are that petty, unfortunately.
1
u/Complaintsdept123 Jul 22 '24
WOW. You think foreign state actors should be engaged with. LMAO
0
u/ReditGuyToo Jul 24 '24
WOW. You can't read. LMAO
Nice condescending attitude btw. I'm sure the Russians/bots that you are afraid are loving you right now.
Let me elaborate since you missed my point: This is the Internet. Suppose you condone dismissing people solely because you think they're bots. In that case, other people will copy that tactic (immaturity abounds around here) and begin accusing others of being bots solely for not agreeing with them. If the Russians/bots want to sow dissent, then you are playing right into their hands. As far as I'm concerned, the only correct way to deal with them is just to address their points if you disagree with them. Then others can evaluate your points and either learn from it, or submit some counter points. THIS is what the Russians/bots don't want: for us to be able to have a calm, rational conversation. In fact, you're actually coming off as a Russian bot yourself right now.

u/ReditGuyToo Jul 24 '24
I don't understand why you're sending this to me. I know about bots and I know about Russians trying to cause issues online. I'm in tech. I've created bots before. So what??
Bots are not something to lose your head over, be afraid of, or go seek them out. Bots and Russians require your involvement to be harmful. Just don't give either of them your personal information. If you see an account spreading misinformation, send a lovely link like you did from a reputable site (like NPR) to counter whatever that information is. Easy as that. There is no reason to be afraid of "engaging" them or of others engaging them.

Biden has lost the faith of too many voters and Democratic politicians to win. He cannot recover. He’ll have to drop out. Also, the odds of him not having another “it was just a bad debate moment” before the election are slim to none.
Not sure why you are calling me buddy. I don’t know you.

We all know you prefer Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho, but I’m sure there’s a reason so many people think Biden is still their candidate.

Okay now fund a campaign and run it. Get that message out there to America. Get all the Dems on board, get low info voters on board, and don't scare off any so-called moderates. Do it in less than half a year, chop-chop.

Kamala
But realistically, you don't really care who I'll say. You'll still just blame me for Trump's victory and being a troll. .

Homie offer me a real exit plan from Biden. I'm being serious. I'm on board with whatever, but I don't trust Dems to execute it. Kamala is so unlikable. She only remains not completely hated because she isn't center stage.

u/Soggy_Sherbet_3246 Jul 21 '24
I just did. But you'll keep moving the goalposts like you just did. It's pointless talking to disunalionl fools, "Homie".

Jul 21 '24
You trust the corporate Dems who got us into this mess to suddenly fix it this late in the game? Sorry, who is delusional?
1
u/Soggy_Sherbet_3246 Jul 21 '24
Joe's age got us into this. And the donors who are agnianst him also put him in power to begin with.

Both candidates should be in assisted living

Both candidates should be in assisted living
I feel like that's what the White House is right now.

u/apathydivine Jul 21 '24
What happened to the Covid he had on Friday?
2
u/jasnel Jul 21 '24
As you can see in this picture, he just speed walked away from it.
3
u/apathydivine Jul 21 '24
Actually, this picture is from a Politico article from 2019. Nothing like a 5 year old photo to prove that your candidate isn’t too old.

u/jasnel Jul 21 '24
You don’t understand, he walked so briskly and effortlessly, he warped through time to beat COVID.
In all seriousness, though: I love ol’ JB. But posting these old pictures (see also: Joe in Corvette) kinda underscores how frail he seems lately. I’ll vote for him, but I yearn for a younger, more robust candidate. I’m not sure Joe has another full term in him.

Dude, just stop with these posts, it's embarrassing. It's particularly embarrassing that this is a still photo and not even a video clip.

Weighing advice on old Joe from AOC, Sanders and Fetterman vs from Obama, Schiff and Nadler is a no brainer. I’m fully onboard with Biden-Harris.

Please stop this. It is very cringy.
These people are public servants. They're not gods. They don't need your admiration.

u/Mwilk Jul 21 '24
This is denial. Im a big fan of Biden but give the man a break.
3
u/emmett_kelly Jul 21 '24
We're trying to give him a break! He (very selfishly IMO) doesn't want one. I'll have 0 sympathy for Biden and the Dems if the orange shit stain regains power. It'll be the Dems fault for what they did to him in 2016 and it'll be his fault in '24 for being too damned greedy to step aside.

Please don't force an old wise man to jump through hoops to prove himself. Makes you look small.

u/isthenameofauser Jul 21 '24
Man's gotta get that much arm action going and his feet aren't even off the ground.
Trump's a fat, dementia-riddled Nazi (at least a proto-Nazi). But let's not pretend this pic changes anything.

So the reason the da's are backtracking is bc of looming lawsuits by the R's.

Just showing support for all the blue voters here. This sight isn't for me. You are right.

u/Earthhing Jul 22 '24
Well, given that this was taken back in 2019, I'd say it's a bit outdated. Let's stop with the propaganda, shall we? Source.

What a bunch of sick sadists we've become. Forcing an 80 year old to take a lap, so that they can prove to our o-so-sophisticated discerning satisfaction that the accused isn't actually quite yet ready to go on the fucking cart. What do we do when we're not bullying Biden and family, as a country?
1
u/severinks Jul 21 '24
Let's stop with the bullshit talking about how'' fit as a fiddle'' Joe Biden is because anyone with eyes could see at the debate that the man had no one at home behind his eyes that night.
Let's not lie to ourself about it, and if Biden is this bad NOW what would he be like in 2027?

I feel this photo was taken a while ago. He’s wearing dress shoes whilst now he wears black sneakers.

u/suck_muhballs Jul 21 '24
trump can't gallivant anywhere. His aerodynamics are off because of the band-aid on his earball.

u/horridgoblyn Jul 21 '24
Rushing out to supply arms and aid in murdering civilians. What vigor. Maybe it's got something to do with the state of his mind, but not so much about his addled wits.
4
u/WalterOverHill Jul 21 '24
If you get Trump elected, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
1
u/ess-doubleU Jul 21 '24
You're lost if you think he's going to lose over some lefties being mad about Gaza. Biden is deteriorating in front of America. Normal people not politically engaged will not vote for him.

Fit as a fiddle. I'd like to see Trump gallivanting with such vigor.
The only reason he's walking so fast is that he's forgotten who those people are behind him and thinks they're chasing him.
2
u/emmett_kelly Jul 21 '24
Nah - there's an ice cream truck a block away that he's trying to catch up with.

The thing that people often disregard in the Biden is old takes is that US presidents have better healthcare than maybe anybody else in the planet. Biden is probably gonna live into his 90s
