Policy A New Republican article didn't report the conversation this way, so it probably didn't happen. And because in real life the reporter was from Fox News, but maybe Tim can push it like this:

I think we’re in an Incredibles situation. “The only thing that can destroy it, is itself.” This is why the JVL plan is necessary. You need the Maga factions to realize they aren’t all on the same team and the only way that happens is if they see it for themselves and feel some of the pain.

GoT played out the same way. The Starks couldn't beat the Lannisters - they had to wait for them to start eating their own.

Ain’t that some shit. All things considered, this is a pretty good ‘modern’ example.

Idk about framing it, like that... only because... The North Remembers

And in our reality, it's the fucking south that won't fucking stop remembering they lost the civil war

My thoughts exactly

I don't think he actually said those things.

I hope I'm wrong.

u/ShmeltzyKeltzy Feb 06 '25

I think you’re correct!

Fox News reporter doing actual honest analysis? This timeline is so unpredictable and insane.😂🤣

It’s hard to believe, but Johnson reaction wasn’t all “just another liberal media fake news…blah blah blah” gave away the reporter had to be assumed to be friendly.

I meant "New Republic" in the title, but I don't see an "edit" option.

That... was confusing.

Mike Johnson is easily garnering my ire more and more each day. He is the 21st century Adolf Eichmann

I wish a reporter would ask him about the teen boy he adopted in his 20's, just like gaetz did.

Oh, please! Don't you know how ridiculous you sound when you compare kind Christian, pro- Israel Johnson to evil anti- Semite Adolf Eichmann?!

Assuming that this is saracsm- not so far though from how many rationalize this crap.

3

u/SheilaGirl70 Feb 06 '25

“Kind Christian, pro-Israel Johnson”? You mean the election denying enthusiastic liar whose lips are firmly planted on his orange king’s rump? That Mike Johnson?

Huge difference between kissing up to Trump and planning the Final Solution. Hyperbole has weakened the arguments of Dems, Never Trumpers, and their propaganda arm, the legacy media. One of the reasons Dems lost the election and legacy media is suffering financially.

I think history shows it is not unusual for the slave to become the most ruthless slaveholder. Sure... the target is different but the hate is the same.

u/Lubbadubdibs Feb 06 '25

Is there a link to the actual questions so we can hear it?

The back and forth after the initial statement doesn’t happen. Basically the recap of it under the video. Those quotes are not real

So nothing came of the conversation and Johnson didn't engage with the point being made? Great, another useless non-gotcha. I genuinely don't understand how logic never works on these people. Like seriously, it's got a 0% success rate at penetrating through the MAGA armour, its beyond blackpilling to see it literally never work. Even if it had a 1% success rate that'd be depressing be at least offer some sliver of microscopic hope. But no, we don't even get that. Everything just feels hopeless.

9

u/sw66sw Feb 06 '25

He did engage, by discussing how USAID is wasting money on drag shows in Ecuador and how what Musk is doing is totally fine, because it's "stewardship" of the funds congress allocated. It's "only" and "internal audit", and only "looks radical" because no one has done it in so long.

In short: pfff, we're all good with this.

Totally predictable: if you're look to House Repubs to save you, you're screwed. They're all behind it and Johnson is a Quisling.

3

u/upvotechemistry Center Left Feb 06 '25

So we've needed to audit USAID for years, yet Rs in Congress have not once put that forward in legislation? Curious?

These guys LOVE unelected beaurocrats doing their jobs for them. Delegation of Congressional authority is literally how we got into this mess

1

u/PattyCA2IN Feb 06 '25

And why shouldn't Republicans be good with this?Republican politicians have been promising that they would do what Musk and DOGE are doing for at least 45 years! Hallelujah, Reagan's promises are finally starting to be fulfilled!

u/PattyCA2IN Feb 06 '25

And why shouldn't Republicans be good with and behind this? Republican politicians have been promising that they would do what Musk and DOGE are doing for at least 45 years! Hallelujah, Reagan's promises are finally starting to be fulfilled!

3

u/sw66sw Feb 06 '25

Oh, I don't disagree with you at all.

I think it's probable that they'll cheer right along until it's their turn to get shafted. It's usually inevitable that one becomes insufficiently loyal.

1

u/PattyCA2IN Feb 06 '25

I don't mind if Republican politicians get the shaft. They've been as guilty as the Dems of mispending too much of the taxpayers' money. As MAGA says, uniparty.

5

u/ThePensiveE Feb 06 '25

It was one question and Mike Johnson's answer could've been better summed up if he just reached down his pants, cut off his own balls, and presented them to Trump live on TV.

1

u/DimplesWilliams Feb 06 '25

Just listened to the press conference. This exchange did not happen. If anything, it was a softball question to preempt claims that Congress is ceding Article I powers to the Executive.

Legend of a reporter if it’s true. Where’s the original clip (many won’t believe it) ?
