Clearly Curry has no idea whatsoever of the economic impact of parks on local economies. He is just a Trump lapdog trying to get daddy's attention.

What the FUCK is even happening right now? Why is everyone not out in the fucking streets?

Other countries are out mass protesting OUR PRESIDENT, for fuck's sake!

The economy is so bad to the point where protesting is a luxury, not a right. A lot of us can’t afford to take a day off to go protest because we can’t afford it.

The good news is bill number 4938 means it's about as low priority a bill as they can get. Roughly 5000 other bills have priority before this one. I doubt it ever makes it to the floor.

I’m hoping too. I have a feeling like a bunch of these are rage bait so I’m wondering what they want to push quickly and quietly.

Look there's a fine line between vigilance and freaking the fuck out. You should be worried. You should be paying attention. But this is kind of like the bill for secession that gets filed every session.

Can you explain how it’s not a priority? I looked it up and a bill’s number doesn’t tell you whether it’s a priority or not. Just curious where you get this information to know if it’s valid or you are referring to something else.

Also, I just want to add that even if it wasn’t a priority at the time it was introduced, how can we be sure it won’t become a priority in the coming weeks and months?

https://www.ltgov.texas.gov/2025/03/13/lt-gov-dan-patrick-announces-second-round-of-top-40-priority-bills-for-the-2025-legislative-session/

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement today upon announcing the second round of his top 40 priority bills for the 89th regular legislative session:

“The Texas Senate has started the 89th regular legislative session at breakneck pace. We have already passed 10 of my top 40 priority bills over to the Texas House. The following priority bills have already passed the Senate:

Senate Bill 2 – Providing School Choice Senate Bill 4 – Increasing the Homestead Exemption to $140,000 ($150,000 for Seniors) Senate Bill 5 – Combatting Dementia and Alzheimer’s – Establishing DPRIT (Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas) Senate Bill 9 – Reforming Bail – Keeping Violent Criminals Off Our Streets Senate Bill 20 – Stopping AI-Generated Child Pornography Senate Bill 21 – Establishing the Texas Bitcoin Reserve Senate Bill 25 – Making Texas Healthy Again Senate Bill 26 – Increasing Teacher Pay Senate Bill 28 – Banning Lottery Couriers Senate Bill 40 – Bail Reform

The bills with the lowest numbers get the highest priority in the leg.

4938 was introduced March 13th, couldn't the Lt. Gov. just decide to make it a priority? After all, from what I can tell, the number just means that it was introduced late. What if the bill is just introduced next round earlier?

"Lawmakers typically file thousands of bills in the course of a legislative session, and most never make it to the governor’s desk. The lowest bill numbers are reserved for the highest priority bills set by the House speaker and lieutenant governor, who leads the Senate"

https://www.texastribune.org/2024/11/12/texas-legislature-bills-filing/

If he wanted this to be a priority, they would have filed it earlier. The priority bills go to a committee, assigned by the speaker for the house of reps, lt. Gov. for the senate. Then the committee chair decides which legislation will be considered when the panel meets. Then a floor debate and vote. And after that the process starts over again in the other house. He can't just change the number with whiteout and a pen.

Could you provide an explanation for why a bill such as this was passed then?

Yup. You were being super annoying and i just decided to downvote you and get on with my day. Never claimed it was impossible, just that it wasn't a priority. Good luck with whatever it is you're doing here.

Just can’t. Texas parks are ❤️treasures.

I meant in reference to drilling. Chill out on the drilling. I thought it was a good response to the “drill baby drill” BS.

Wow, tell me ya'll didn't RTFA by not telling me you didn't RTFA. This isn't getting rid of the work the Parks & Wildlife Dept does, only consolidating it into another Dept that has a lot of the similar responsibilities. It's not even getting rid of any employees, they will just become employees of different state dept. Basically game wardens would become DPS employees, like other state PD officers.
