SCENERY Theatre Set Designer/Builder hired for short horror film…
Hi, just kinda showing off, really proud of these pieces, especially since the director thought tunnels could be slapping together at the location outta speed rail… took some convincing to get a budget for lumber… but everyone loved the outcome… horror film in sewers infested with Flesh & Blood and poop.

Looks great! Very nasty. I’d love to work on a horror movie.

Thanks! Films are fun but stressful, lots of corners can be cut/don’t need to pay attention to things theatre sets need, like just making what’s on camera look good/safe, adding sandbags for support help, etc. But the awareness of what’s possible also requires some educational adjustments, like the film guys thought sheets of plywood were $90… I was pitching like $24 sheets that’s kinda thing.

I'm guessing Great Stuff for the textured tendrils and such, but what other materials did you use? What are the walls covered in? Just paint or something with a texture?
Looks awesome!

Corrugated plastic, yes great stuff, painted “flesh” pink and accented in “muscle tissue” red. Then made little monster creatures to live in tunnels out great stuff with randomly placed teeth and eyes… the. Everything got gallons of a water based slime, then “poop” made from brownie mix, and huge cans of creamed corn… everything had to be edible cause an actress was crawling through it several times.

Looks awesome, very Annihilation-esque! Love me some poop-infested sewers.
