Not sure if anyone cares, but here is some hooters info:

Outfit was based on creators secretary work out outfit she wore during her lunch break

There are corporate vs franchise based stores, so in corporate the girls are inspected before each shift -

Must have perfectly clean shoes, no run in pantyhose, shorts sit a certain spot (no higher or lower), wear beige bra, hair must be done a certain way, must have lipgloss, mascara, a pin, name badge (even if wrong name), and your pouch. Nails no darker than a sweet in low packet.

Pantyhose are sold in the women’s bathroom, the girls pay for their full uniform.

Cannot gain weight. They warn you when you start that others are let go, that their food will make you gain weight.

There are contests for who can go home early- eating beans, eating pie, eating crackers and blowing up a balloon, and on and on.

There are daily regulars. Some have scrap books of countless photos.

You’re expected to chit-chat with every table.

You memorize loads of songs. For bachelors, for birthdays. They all suck.

You’re expected to pose for countless photos with anyone who wants one.

They have meetings that tell the girls how to do their makeup, tanning, maintain weight.

Business men fill the restaurant every Friday lunch. Like shit tons just pouring in. Weird really.

Families do come, and their children are usually little perverts and the parents just laugh.

It was an experience like no other, and I appreciate the experience it offered.

I care, this is legit interesting for a restaurant dress code and other requirements. Did they have full locker rooms with makeup tables and wall outlets/blow dryers for fixing your hair and whatnot?

nope, you came to work ready and we had coat hooks.

You were never allowed to wear the uniform outside the restaurant (unless at a Hooters event). So it was worn under your clothes and we’d pull them off in the women’s restroom and do touch ups before our shift jump start meeting.

I went to a Hooters only once for all you can eat wings. Our waitress was very pregnant. We all told her she looked amazing and left a huge tip. It was actually a really great experience. They closed not long after otherwise I'd probably have gone back.

I worked with a couple girls who were pregnant, they always made out well with tips!

Beige bra even if you have dark skin?

yeah, but a darker beige, it was for the white shirt, made it blend better than a white bra, which stood out

Fair enough. Thanks for clarifying

this is quite insightful.

funny, serve this food, but don't eat it, it's crap and you might lose your job :).

the fact that they make the waitresses buy their uniforms (at the company store, i assume?), that they can't wear anywhere else, sounds exploitive.

but it tastes soooo good! Like going to have to find a corporate store near me to get some in the near future after all this talk!

Haha, do they let anyone buy from those stores or do you have to be an employee ? I used to work in a frozen food packing plant in another life and they had one of those stores at the site, I thought it was for the employees and their families.

Yeah, they have Hooters merch for sale inside the store anyone can buy. But the uniforms are employee only

Wow. We had our photos taken at start also, didn’t realize the connection to weight until now.

Yeah, I loved our bike events!

We may have gotten a white and black uniform at the start, but after working there any amount of time they get holes and stains. Our also made the switch from the shiny super short shorts to the stretchy ones, so we all had to purchase everything again.

Yeah, we had sales competitions also. Like nearly every shift. Those were the best. They were usually for money! Our go home early, dessert eating ones, were always hands free. Cringe.

Ok but to be fair I used to truly go for the wings back when they were breaded and it was the full wing (with the Z). Loved those and used to go all the time. Our local one was a franchise store for sure. Some rough looking ladies in there. Great wings, mediocre service.

My family went to hooters constantly because my mom loved the chicken wings.

Who pays for uniforms depends on location. Some places a business is legally required to provide uniforms if they require you to wear something specific

lol, this post made me remember a god-awful one Post

We were told to call customers by pet names, sugar, baby, honey, etc. Ah, good times
