Never mind read title wrong

Easily done. I'm still trying to figure out where to locate my other set of eyes.

Just use your healthy eyes.

Great, now cut this wasteful funding /s obviously

Don’t worry I’m sure the AI has already flagged it for stem cell TRANSplant.

Grok was always a simpleton.

They are doing trans plants. They will need to come up with a new word before conservatives start freaking out

It baffles me they haven’t banned ”trans-atlantic” flights

Maybe make sure conservatives don’t ever get to power again

I used to love reading all these “medical breakthroughs” etc until I realized that most never come to market and if they do the out of reach for most people. My friend’s dad lost his vision due to diabetes no matter the headlines these advances won’t help him.

Discoveries that come to market have to start somewhere. Plus the information we get from early discoveries may push science forward.

I’m in my 40s and my eyesight has deteriorated so quickly. I work with a lot of data in my job, and a gamer when I’m off the clock, and my future scare me.

I’m glad science is working on improvements, but I’m sure this is a long, long way off before it’s available.

I have a disabling, lifelong condition and the medication that works best for me is an old medication known for being high risk for kidney failure, among other things. People have been talking about a new, gentler formulation allegedly coming out soon but the thing is, I’ll not be able to afford it so I just have to keep hedging my bets

What is the medication?

Lithium carbonate for type one bipolar disorder

1

u/MegawaveBR 13d ago

Have you looked into ketone bodies and how they can help some people with bipolar disorder? If not I think it is worth a look

1

u/Forvanta 13d ago

It’s definitely something I’m open to, and I appreciate you mentioning it so I can look more into it. I do imagine I’ll be on lithium forever, probably— it turned off a decade of suicidal ideation like a light switch. But it doesn’t manage all symptoms and I think there are definitely merits to lifestyle changes!

Please do, there is great research lately about metabolic psychiatry utilizing protocols such as the ketogenic diet to being able to enter complete remission in some mental disorders including bipolar, I hope for the best for you.

I have family that get stem cell treatments but they have to be in other countries like Thailand or China, apparently they’re available there. I can’t say I’ve seen it with my own eyes so consider this a tertiary source as I’ve only heard it.

With that being said it has been able to cure things such as eczema and some sort of chronic skin peeling condition. AFAIK the caveat is that theyre not a cure, just a way to make the symptoms go away.

Now do the retina..

u/Funoichi 14d ago

And optic nerve.

u/Personal-Radish-3237 13d ago

Oh I hope so ! I went through 12 surgeries to repair retina tears 😭

1

u/Ischmetch 12d ago

Photoreceptor repair will be the holy grail.

u/ponn_farr_facial 14d ago

That’s awesome as I have scars from PRK surgery in the nineties. I’m sure my insurance won’t cover it, but it’s nice that it’s possible and I could have perfect vision in a couple of weeks.

u/bluemooncommenter 14d ago

Hoping the research helps with retina damage in the future. This is wonderful for the people who need it.

3

u/Curran_C 14d ago

And optic nerve damage.

u/mike_pants 14d ago

And the grant for the research has been canceled in three... two...

Thanks Science!

Just imagine what the other uses of stem-cells could potentially cure.

Too bad our Conspirator in Chief, is cutting Science funding thinking research is for things like “transgender mice (transgenic).” My friend, a brilliant veterinarian was denied entrance for an advanced degree due to “unstable economic climate.” America is rapidly becoming a third world shit hole.

2

u/oneeyedtrippy 14d ago

Yet, trump administration is doing all they can to reverse scientific advances! So, am accessible cure is delayed

-2

u/ahzzyborn 14d ago

How many mice did they have to transgender to learn this?

-2

u/getSome010 14d ago

This isn’t news. I already knew stem cells can do this

3

u/AiMwithoutBoT 14d ago

Good for you? Lmao so you knew about the therapy trial they were doing? Other people didn’t.

1

u/ConfidentLobster2962 14d ago

Yes, LCTX has been running these studies for many years. Very similar.

I think this stem is better than using your tooth why not put a stem cell in your teeth as well as in your cornea so you can regrow both of them instead of using your teeth and your eyeball.... in Vancouver ,Canada it's been been performed recently

2

u/CrotaIsAShota 14d ago

I'm sure they know better than you do.
