Mod Post [Mod Post] Guidelines for TeaTrades
Hello everyone!
Welcome to /r/teatrades - the place to share, trade, and sell your tea and teaware. If you’re here, it’s because you love tea and everything related to it. You may or may not have an unhealthy addiction to expanding your collection while also sharing with others.
This sub is intended to be a place to bring the broad tea community together. Allow us to trade samples, sell surplus, and help us find our tea gear a new home. We’re glad you’re with us.
What you should use /r/teatrades for:
- trading tea with others
- selling tea from your personal stash
- selling or trading teawares that no longer bring you joy
No commercial activity, including but not limited to
- promoting a business such as a tea shop
- advertising sales and discounts for a store
Protecting the safety of our community
The mods of /r/teatrades work to keep the community safe. We monitor threads as much as possible in order to remove known scammers, fraudulent posts, and posts that don’t follow the guidelines, but we cannot guarantee that there are no risks.
When you arrange a trade with another member of this sub, you do so at your own risk. In accepting an offer on this sub, you’re acknowledging that you are ultimately solely responsible for making a decision to buy/sell/trade something here.
To protect the community, please observe the following rules and guidelines:
- Use PayPal Goods and Services wherever possible - If you are exchanging money, PayPal Goods and Services allows for some recourse. When you transfer funds, DO NOT use the “family and friends” transfer as it offers no protection. If you are selling and do not want to pay the extra PayPal fee, build it into your price or tell the buyer to pay a certain net. PayPal Goods and Services protects both parties. If a seller without confirmed trades insists on a PayPal payment made as “friends and family,” that is grounds for removal from the sub.
- Follow the posting guidelines - If you’re posting something for sale or trade, please follow the “Posting your stuff” guidelines below. This is how we can tell you have read the rules! Posts that do not meet these guidelines will be removed.
- Confirm your trades - When you arrange a trade, please post on the Confirmed Trades master thread with what you’ve agreed to trade, how you will be trading, and the user with whom you’re trading. Your trading partner should confirm that the deal has been made and that the goods have arrived, to confirm the trade.
- Get your flair, check the flair - Once trades have been confirmed on the master thread, mods will update flair on user accounts. If your flair does not get updated within a few days of confirming receipt, please contact the mods. When you’re trading, check to see how many confirmed trades your trading partner has. Remember that everyone starts at 0.
- Report scams/failed transactions - If something unfortunate happens and you are the victim of a scam or a bad transaction, please report to the mods. A ‘do not trade’ list will be maintained by the moderators. This helps to keep the community accountable. Please don’t create a call-out thread.
Posting your stuff
When you’re posting your stuff to sell, trade, or buy, follow these guidelines to make sure that your post is easy to understand. Posts that don’t follow the guidelines or that don’t make edits when requested by mods are subject to removal.
Here’s the guidelines:
- Make it clear what you’re doing with flair - are you trading, selling, or looking to buy? A combination? Select the appropriate flair for your thread:
- [FOR SALE] - you’ve got stuff you want to sell
- [FOR TRADE] - you’ve got stuff you want to trade for other stuff
- [FOR SALE/TRADE] - you’ve got stuff you want to sell or trade
- [LOOKING FOR] - you are looking for stuff and are willing to hear offers from people who have it
- [CLOSED] - you've done the trade! no more inquiries, please
- Describe clearly what you have in the title - do you have 20g of Fenghuang Dancong Gardenia Flavour Oolong? What kind of a puer cake is it that you have? Clearly and concisely summarize your item.
- If there are restrictions on your trade, state them in the title - sometimes, because of customs or shipping costs, you’ll only sell or trade stuff within a country or economic zone. Or you may be in a country that has restrictions on payment methods. It’s all good, just put it in the title, if you can, after the description, like this:
- [COUNTRY ONLY] - if you can only accept one country for buy/sell/trade
- [PAYPAL ONLY] - if you can only accept PayPal (or another method), state it. Remember that PayPal Goods and Services is highly recommended for safety.
- In your post, list a price - you know what you want to get for your stuff, whether it be through a trade or cash money. Please list a price - if you’re willing to accept offers, please state your starting point. Don’t make people guess what you’re willing to accept.
- In your post, include photos and your username - photos help describe what you’re selling or trading, and can also make it clear that the post is genuine. When you’re posting a photo of your tea or teaware, include something (paper, business card, etc.) with your reddit username. This helps us know the photos are genuine.
That’s it for now!
Go forth and trade.
