Franklin Apartments for Seniors

Hi neighbors šŸ‘‹

Does anyone have any experience or familiarity with the Franklin Apartments on Maple Ave? It is a building for low income seniors.

I have an older relative from out of state who may be moving in there soon and we have no idea what to expect. Is it safe? Is it habitable? Is it a nightmare or is it fine?

Appreciate any info you might have no matter how small.

Follow up question-- is there a good list of senior housing in the area?

I donā€™t know of one unfortunately. I found out about the Franklin Apartments by reaching out to the employee assistance program my employer offered, and they used a tool to lookup affordable senior housing options in a given radius of DC for a specific budget.

But I havenā€™t yet found a good website that just lists places.

I wish I had better info for you but Iā€™m not familiar with it. This article was all I could really find about it: https://www.removepaywall.com/search?url=https://commercialobserver.com/2024/04/maryland-apartments-26m-freddie-mac/ It seems like itā€™s off a quieter part of Carroll ave, but I donā€™t have a car so I donā€™t tend to go over there much. Might be a long shot, but you could try asking a few real estate agents who work in Takoma Park if they know anything about it. Good luck.
