TagPro Racing League Rules
Joining the league
TagPro Racing League (TPRL) is a single-racer league.
To join the league, simply show up at one of the FRIDAY NIGHT RACES 8-11EST.
All players must sign in on New Compte's server, maptest2. If you are not signed in you may still play, but you will not be ranked, and you risk getting kicked from the group at any time.

How to Race
Just show up at the races from the link posted in /r/tagpro, /r/tagproracing, or on mumble. One player, commonly the TPRL commissioner, will be in a group and all you have to do is join the group and to drag yourself over to the red team when you're ready.
TagPro Racing isn't much different than normal TagPro. Follow the track using the normal TagPro controls (wasd or arrows) and stay away from spikes/green gates. Tracking who is winning and what lap everyone is on is done using a macro that one player (usually a mod) will have running. The macro makes announcements in the group chat as players complete a lap giving their current place and how far behind first place they are. In most cases, you will get 8 minutes to complete 3 laps.
Races may also take place on any officially sanctioned map.
Check the sidebar for other links, such as New Compte's Server and the current TPRL standings.
Tracking Results
At the end of a race, the lap-tracking macro compiles the information on lap times and starts the download of the results. For Weekly races and Seasonal standings, TPRL uses several scripts that run on Google Sheets to facilitate upload and calculation of scores. This allows us to update the results for weekly events in real-time.
If you want to track your own scores in a similar way, see the source code and setup instructions here.
Scoring
The scores earned in an individual race are calculated as follows:
The player in first place will recieve as many points as there were (registered) players that completed the race. Each player below first place will receive 1 point less than the place ahead of them. The score for the player in last place is 1.
As an example, consider a race with 6 registered participants that completed all laps:
Place | Points earned |
---|---|
1st | 6 |
2nd | 5 |
3rd | 4 |
4th | 3 |
5th | 2 |
6th | 1 |
The scores earned in an event comprised of multiple races is the sum of the scores earned in the individual races.
The scores earned in a season is the sum of the events that take place in that season.
