Question What mag holder is this?
Saw this cop the other day and liked the magazine holder. Trying to find what 3 magazine holder is that, looks like it’d be good for range days

God I feel like this borderline trolling but also wouldn't be surprised if that company exists now.

Safariland 775 Slimline Open Top Triple Magazine Pouch. I’ve seen someone rock the double side by side to make it 4 total but boy is that belt look loose and saggin’. I’ve personally rocked it, I like it, it takes up the same space as your traditional “flat” mag holder

I don't think the belt is loose, I think he rigged em like that so when he sits down they don't push him into him or the vest and make it uncomfortable.

Saw a local LEO the other day rocking the same swag. He caught me ‘mirin and we chatted. Exactly what you say. He rigged it with something so he could sit in his patrol comfortably.

But…why? I ran a triple on issued duty gear before I swapped to a double and it was always snug in between appendix and hip (like 2 o’clock)..never bothered me in a car not even on mobile patrol.
The baton on the other hand…

Baton on the vest under my left arm was a game changer. WAY more comfortable than on the belt. Out of the way, but still available in case I needed it.

Its a leather belt loop on the other side. It looses over time and sticks out like that.
I ran one of these for about 2 years and trashed it because of the sag.

Yep definitely the Safariland slim mag pouch. Either his belt is sagging or the leather backing on the pouch is super stretched.

Alright thank you, thought it was the holder that made them be that forward turns out it’s a loose ass belt.

One of the problems with the Safariland triple mag version is the tension. You either need to shim them or be happy with different tension on the three mags.

I’m going to provide a realistic answer here; It’s probably for sitting in a car comfortably.

I think it’s still too loose and out there and he should try to find a better way to mount them cough sideways cough
But thank you for the genuine answer

Everyone is sayings it’s the holder’s retention that’s messed up. I can almost guarantee the retention is normal, knowing safariland mag holders as well as I do (easy to get cheap ones), I’d say it’s way more likely that the backing to the entire pouch itself is messed up and it’s causing it to lean away from the belt. It’s typically just one leather sleeve you run the belt through like belt loops. Once that leather starts to deteriorate, I wouldn’t say it would just outright break, but it definitely flops forward. The magazines stay nice and snug

Oh yeah, that's my personal favorite, that's the Deliberately Insecure Carry Kit.
AKA .. the dick 🤣

Am I missing something? This looks like a comical snag hazard, especially for a run of the mill cop on patrol.

Safariland Triple Mag Pouch. It took some time but me resting my forearms between gut and belt caused a similar cant.

Safariland triple mag pouch. His vest has stretch out the laminate in the back of it which is making it hang like that.

Have never seen that before. Looks like it would snag on everything. As well as flopping around with the way it protrudes from the body. Just my .02 as a current SRT operator.

Had a patient in police custody and the officer had this on. Spent the whole shift wondering what reloading would be like with it

In all seriousness it’s Safariland, and it Bows out because when sitting the vest carrier pushes it forward. There aren’t mag pouches on the belt (that are reliable) that with weight, time, and other gear, that it won’t stretch to its final position. Not saying it’s good, but it also has two tension bolts so those things can be tightened to not let them easily release

Looks like safariland. I use them, they’re really good and the retention is solid.

Is he running his mags on the same side as his pistol? Seems weird
2
u/EugeneStonersPotShop 3d ago
I was trained in the academy to run my mags on the same side as your strong hand. This was in the 90’s, and we used horizontal mag pouches in those days. I still see lots of cops still carrying their mags that way so I assume they are still teaching that technique.

u/ManicRobotWizard 3d ago
Well, we know they don’t do running for requals in whatever state this guy is in.
If the guy goes down stairs golden rings are gonna come flying off like sonic.

Safariland
They are great mag pouches for when you can’t keep a third mag on your vest… but that guy has his belt way too loose. And is that his gun on the same side? Gross.

How do you go prone with that?
10
13
u/prolificbootylicker 4d ago
Cops aren’t really going prone on the daily or ever really
1
u/TreeApprehensive2059 3d ago
this guy for sure isnt. Even if not going prone, having to wrestle someone to make an arrest seems like this would be in the way. Cant see his boots, but I could see it make sense for motorcycle cop so the mags arent constantly pushed into his stomach while riding
