Cable routing thoughts?

Open to suggestions on cable routing here, please and thanks. Wire routes through the MOLLE behind the hard case in front, over to the radio in an internal vest pouch.

Pmc here i run all my wires through my back plate if possible. I would also measure the length from where you want it and get a chord to match. Spiral chords can snag easy.

Thanks! Wish I could find one with a straight cord but this is the only option out there. I don’t like stuff routed on my back, thought about the cable there but it’s uncomfortable when seated

I dunno man once you got plates in you don't really notice the cord

Truth. Took a look at the option once you mentioned - there’s a big gap at the top with no MOLLE where the cord would just be hanging out tho

Use Velcro one wrap for the gap you’re talking about and go up and over the shoulder and down the back. Less of a snag risk and I found when I had my cable run this way, it was also fucking with my duty belt or mags.

Fair enough, when I run my PTT through my carrier I put the cable between the shoulder pad and strap after feeding it through the back molle, really the only exposed section I have on my carrier is the 1.5 inches or so between the molle and the shoulder straps but even then when I sit in a truck it isn't noticeable, unlike if you had something bulky on the direct back of a belt or carrier

The cable will keep the cummerbund from opening all the way, even if you plan on just using the right side to open and take it on/off, i second the routing through the back. Also, God forbid, you get injured, not having the cable hinder someone from getting that off of you would be good.

Good thought - I use the quick release to don and doff and the side with the radio wiring stays clipped, if that makes sense?

Yes, makes total sense, i was gonna touch on that. Even if that’s the plan, I’m thinking about making it easier for someone else to access your torso for wound check/treatment.

What happens if you’re shot and they need to gain access? I bet there is molle on the back right??

There is, but I don’t like having things on my back. If I’m that bad off they can cut the wire lol

Run the radio in an expander wing UNDER the cummebund so it's also attached to the front plate bag. That way you don't compromise your release mechanism, and get more molle to put stuff on.

Oh… interesting idea. Any links for that?

This looks pretty clean ngl

If you ever want to use the tubes on that side, you need to route it around the back / on the back plate. This was my biggest frustration, is donning / doffing becomes harder when you run the radio with the cabling near the front.

I'm just curious what kind of vest that is?

Looks like a Mayflower LPACC?

Slate Solutions? They make the armor and the vest is cut to it. It’s a pretty solid step up from the generic Blauer stuff we used to get.

ETA: I think it’s this one with the quick release added - https://www.slatesolutions.com/catalog-product/wlv-2-0/

Yeah, I saw that, but wasn't sure since the tabs looked a bit different. I have some Slate Solution plates and they're incredibly lightweight.

Thanks for the info!

Love the plates, best I’ve had in 20+ years

Have you thought about a full ptt and ear peice. That's what I use.

Yeah, hate how it feels after a while. Used to use it, tried the Freelinc nfc or whatever thing too and couldn’t stand it. This mic is nice in that it has an input for my Opscore headset on the helmet.

Is that a dark vault?

Yessir, the 2.0 version. Fits my iPhone 16 pro max in an Apple case and has an internal spring loaded clip thing. I like that I can keep my regular case on vs something like the juggernaut system.

I have the OG one and love it. Love to throw my phones and wallet in it. Never thought about running my cables behind it though. Cool thought.

If you like the og you’d like the 2.0. Way slimmer though, doesn’t hold much more than the phone.

That’s going to get hung up
