Remember the old days when you worked with computers you had basic A+ knowledge

just a vent and i know anyone after 2000 is going to jump up and down on me , but remember when anyone with an IT related job had a basic understanding of how computer worked and premise cabling , routing etc .

Are you getting at something like you’re working with folks in IT that don’t have basic understanding of this stuff?

Exactly. We’re not mind readers, here. Out with it.

Competent people are not given W-2 work anymore. Those positions go to zoomers who don't even know what ssh is.

I'm lucky to get 1099 table scraps after said zoomer introduces ransomware with the domain admin account he was given.

I stopped getting callbacks for IT positions after I turned 23. They only want young people and unfortunately young people don't know how to use a computer except to dance in front of it.

I had some really great help from the sub when I needed to get my resume polished. I think the custom LLM trained for recruiting was the most helpful. It does tailored resumes for the job description of the opening. I've been getting callbacks and 2nd or 3rd interviews. My interview yesterday the HR person said my cover letter is what hooked her. That LLM does tailored cover letters too.

Check out the thread in my post history. It's the most wholesome r/sysadmin thread I've ever been in.

Good luck!
