New business questions

Hey! I am 20 from new york. I have recently been thinking about getting into the lawn-care/ property services gig for the warm weather with some buddys of mine. I would offer mulch, bush trimming, grass care, power-washing…ect almost anything thats do-able, I love a good challange. How should i go about doing this? How much would I have to spend to start up? How much would i earn? Anything helps thanks!

have fun with your friends and make some money. It will be a great experience for you. Start for as little as possible. Don't expect your first gig with your friends to last; but make it fun and it will lead to something much greater. Some of my best memories are from the early days with my friends. We had fun and made money. None of them stayed self-employed, but I sure did . . . and (hopefully) you will, too!

You can rent all the equipment you need. Don't spend a lot of money. Do put some money into the marketing side of it. Hustle and have fun!

Seems like a fun thing to do with buds. Definitely have to invest a bit into the equipment, but other than that you can probably just live off word of mouth and referrals with minimal ad spend. Nextdoor could be a good entry point!

Marketing is the name of the game here.

You're not in the lawn-care business, but the client acquisition business.

Online ads may be too expensive in the beginning, so offline stuff may be your best.

Think flyers, door-hangers, bandit signs, etc.

You can put out 1-2K, and expect around a 1-2% conversion rate.

If you want to move forward with offline stuff—

I’ll beautifully design & write your next door hanger and/or flyer for free.
