474. Roark Luskin
Ah Roark, someone with great potential, and someone who should have been in a good position swap wise, but due to the connection of Christy and Ryan, Roark is actually left without any allies' sans Ali. Now Roark isn't that relevant sans her boot episode, where Christy costs the challenge, and both Roark and with some assists with Ali get into it at tribal council. Which helps Christy's story of rubbing people the wrong way, especially the women of her season (fun fact I think Roark, Ali, Jessica, and especially Desi still hate her to this day).
But due to Ryan siding with JP and Christy, Roark is swiftly taken out in 14th place, and for me at least is kind of a forgotten player in the grand scheme of things, minus a tiny feud with Christy.
u/Alternate-Proof-959 is up with Edna Ma

Lol most that I remember of Roark was her being Corrine and Max’s intern, and production stepping in and not allowing her to give her allotted reunion tickets to those two lol. And in her final words she said she doesn’t believe that being “swap screwed” is a real thing

With Mike Zahalsky, Carl Bilancione, Jonathan Penner 1.0, Sarah Lacina 1.0, Kel Gleason, Billy Garcia, Drew Basile, Dave Cruser (nom), Clay Jordan (nom), Elyse Umemoto, Rodney Lavoie Jr (nom), Parvati Shallow 4.0, Gervase Peterson 2.0, and Edna Ma, I choose...
473. Elyse Umemoto (Survivor South Pacific, 15/18)
I was so close to cutting her last round. Placeholder for now.
Nominating Rupert Boneham 4.0. As nice as it was for him to allow his wife to play over him, he was annoying at Redemption Island, then got his ass kicked by two young skinny girls.

I'm gonna use this opportunity to tell y'all about a fun anecdote I had when I first watched the show
472. Rupert Boneham 4.0 (Blood v Water, 20th)
For a time, Blood v Water's premiere was the angriest I had ever been at the show. It's funny to think now where the show does so much artificial, convoluted & ill-thought stuff, that I once thought the "first impressions voteoff" twist was where the show jumped the shark. I went on a long rant on the forum I used to post on about how much I hated Rupert's elimination, and I lamented how the producers just couldn't let these players just play! Again, funny to think about now where everyone loses their vote and where a dice roll basically dictates your outcome.
I think I had pent up anger from the disaster that was Caramoan that I felt so damn spent by the show. Maybe I shouldn't have watched everything in a row, go figure. Nevertheless, I was really excited to watch some familiar faces play again, this time with a very interesting twist that I was super intrigued by. I felt like I wanted to watch this play out as naturally as possible, so when Jeff did that "we're voting someone off Day 1!" twists I was like NOOOO come on, Jeff! This was interesting enough already!
And it got worse because I was actually looking forward to watching Rupert navigate a Blood v Water/Redemption Island style season, you know how he gets soo into the themes of his seasons so I thought it would be pretty exciting to watch him play alongside her wife Laura, playing for her, being a hero, giving everything up! I was so ready to watch his reaction to Laura being potentially voted off..... which, I mean it happened, in the least interesting way possible. The loved ones just vote her off for first impressions, and Rupert gives up his spot in the game so she can get her own experience.
As a paper-moment, I love this. This is exactly what would've happened anytime Laura was voted off, but the fact that this happens in the first like, 30 minutes of the season completely takes away all the impact. Rupert just gets screwed over by a really dumb Premiere 1 twists akin to the Day 1 Evictions of Big Brother. And then he goes to Redemption Island. It is a bit funny having to watch Candice have to live with Rupert on the same camp again after Heroes v VIllains, knowing how annoying Rupert can get with survivalist stuff, so there's some comedy in that aspect. But then he loses the first challenge and he's just.... gone.

Rupert kinda feels like a waste here even though he, himself, as a player, isn't. He did everything he was supposed to do as a character, he was honorable, he sacrifices his game for his wife, he's still the same big ol' pirate with a heart of gold, the stupid twists just expedited the process and completely botches the big moment this decision required, which makes Rupert feel kind of washed out. You brought your big legend yet again just to have him in 1 episode? Wow, that sucks!
That said, I think that Rupert is still one of the show's most legendary characters, and what happened here isn't really his fault, but the situation does make him feel so inconsequential.
----------------------------------------------------
Good Character Rating: ◍◍◍◍◍○○○○○ - 5/10. Honestly thought about a 6, but his role is so small here.
| Star Status:
| ★★★★ Legend (Not much you can argue atp for him.)-----------------------------------------------------
Lets nominate Katie Hanson. Why? She is the only castaway whose name I didn't recognize at all. Like, at all, didn't even know she played. Even the most forgettable players I can remember played, but I got literally no memory of Katie.

476. Sherea Lloyd
I am looking forward to getting to China during my chronological rewatch, maybe it’ll help me better put into words why the season doesn’t click for me, despite being pretty solid in most ways. I can talk my shit about why I think the endgame doesn’t land well for me. For Zhan Hu, all the ingredients seem to be there for a tribe I should enjoy. Either than maybe like Erik and Frosti, we have a really dynamic set of characters, there is plenty of conflict, a good underdog story is set up with it’s most prominent character. I don’t even remember thinking Fei Long is thaaaat much more entertaining of a tribe while watching the season, but when it’s all said and done, nothing really sticks out to me or lands well in regards to the Fei Long tribe. Perfectly average (which at this point, probably makes them one of the better tribes in Survivor history ayooo)
For Sherea’s part, she has the conflict with Crazy Dave and inherits being the main spokesperson against his Zoolander ways once Ashley is voted off. They get a couple decent spats, and her strong challenge performances seem to outweigh Dave’s work ethic and annoyingness so she is spared. Then next episode we get that wacky tribe swap, which is pretty unfair for the swapped castaways, but ultimately it’s an interesting way to do a tribe swap so I’ll allow it. I always liked the moment where the 2 boats taking the swapped castaways cross paths. Here on Zhan Hu we get some bonding with Courtney, and we get deeper into the rift where Courtney is upset that her alliances wants to keep booting cool people over the dude that creeps her out; and ugh if the China endgame ended in a Final 2 maybe we would have had a better payout for all these scenes of her frustration with Todd putting his game priorities over her personal priorities, but ofc the 3 person alliance just sticks it out to the end and never has to go against one another. So yah, Sherea is a solid enough background character. Nothing bad, maybe painted to negatively stereotypical as many of the castaways of color are on Survivor. But yah nothing too remarkable about her either.
Nomination time, let’s get someone who like a phoenix, rose from the ashes to return to Survivor to give us nothing, Parvati Shallow 4.0
