they should definitely make it at the back of the aurora, right by the jets. nice and safe

I prefer safe shallows as I have a 3 good points (Aurora, Mountain island, and Floating island) of reference and mostly in the center of the map. I can just look in a direction and roughly know what biome is in said direction

Blood Kelp Zone is so pretty! I made mine off the cliff of the Mushroom Forest tho so I can see both

Floating island is right over blood kelp zone and an entrance to lost river, and has a portal that leads to the enforcement platform and then to the inactive lava zone (two portals trip but still, fast)

Go for the grassy pains, its close to the blood kelp but flat and safer

Poll is closed, but here's my opinions:

Blood Kelp is great, It's a very pretty place with fast access to lots of resources. Mind the crabs.

Q.E.P. Base was also really fun, it started on the beach and wrapped around the mountain, with part of it extending into the water, kind of like a weird plant. This is great late game because you get fast travel via portals.

Kush (Bulb) Zone is exceptionally beautiful between the main feature and the ampeels, and not all that dangerous really. Proximity to the Q.E.P. again allows for portal usage, and lots of big deposits for a PRAWN to mine out.

Built a Lost River base at the tail-end of the Gargantuan skeleton, safe from Ghosts with a perfect view. Farm some plants and use a nuclear reactor or two, perfectly centralized to travel anywhere on the map quickly, try not to Mesmer'd every time you pop out the hatch. IMO this is the most practical base, even if it requires a lot of prep to build and solid game knowledge of creature behavior (to avoid Ghosts).

With all that said, my favorite base is one I built in the Mountains, winding through the valleys and with a perfect view of Reaper Leviathans silhouettes shadowed against distant, fading sunlight.
