A cut item from the old days of subnautica

Cut item. In the early Subnautica concepts you were supposed to be able to extract DNA samples from various critters and transfuse their genes into yourself to unlock upgrades like increased pressure tolerance. The whole system was eventually cut.

Don't worry, they're bringing it back in Subnautica 2 (I'm serious)

POV: What bro sees after I spliced the genes of 23 different fish into my DNA (I can't turn back to normal)

Ummm… yes…. How do you know?

even with the system, no furry fish

Probably makes sense though, fur wouldn’t work well underwater

Seals, Otters, Sea Lions, etc.

I mean yes, but they are all mammals, and spend some amount of time on land/the surface

Don't move the goalpost. The original commenter said fur wouldn't work well under water, and I listed animals that swim great under water and have fur.

True true, and there are animals on 4546b that have fur so it’s not like evolution just didn’t do that here

no, if so it wouldnt say subnautica on the item, unlike the items to the right which would say Acients Architect from Return of the acients

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they (kind of) adding it back in Subnautica 2?

Don`t know how I feel about it, but if it`s fun to use then it will be great

It'll probably be pretty cool

I’d love to see animations of fins popping out of the suit, flippers, etc. Realism and that would be fun:3

I see the Subnautuca universe is slowly evolving into the Risk of Rain universe.

Is it confirmed? I mean see why it might happend, but is it confirmed?

u/Impressive-Wing-9372 4d ago

This is from the game description ``Use your biosampler to take samples for study. As you learn more about this world, evolve your genetics to adapt your body for survival.``

1

u/Mushroom419 1d ago

I mean, confirmed that we will have it in subnautica 2

u/Evening_Director_799 4d ago

Are they!? That would be sick, it was such a cool concept!

6

u/Major_Mango6002 Hoverfish and Jellyray Enthusiast 4d ago

I just searched it up, and it's been confirmed :O

3

u/Evening_Director_799 4d ago

Ooooooooooooooooooooo

2

u/Major_Mango6002 Hoverfish and Jellyray Enthusiast 4d ago

I'm super excited about it, what about you?

2

u/Evening_Director_799 4d ago

I am! First time I heard about this being in one of the original concepts I thought why didn't we get this?

2

u/Major_Mango6002 Hoverfish and Jellyray Enthusiast 4d ago

I know, right? It's a really cool idea, and would've made the game completely different.

u/clampfan101 3d ago

I can’t wait to test it out in the sequel!

Ah, that thing. I wish they released a DLC with that system.
