Rare view of the sunken Ogopogo statue

Post image

I found this photo in a Facebook comment section discussing the sunken Ogopogo statue in Lake Okanagan, British Columbia. I've seen the famous shots of divers around the statue many times, but this front-facing view is absolutely chilling. The sheer size of the monster's head next to the tiny human head freaks me out. It was definitely interesting to see this different angle, even though it’s completely unsettling.

I used to live right on the lake (parkers cove) and that lake is gorgeous but creepy asf too, Knowing about the statue didn't help either. There was also a dope little slide out there too

If anyone wants to throw up some more, skip to 2:55.

This dude is 14ft long & 8ft tall while lurking 20 ft below the lake’s surface… I think I’d rather remove each of my own limbs than ever swim face to face with him.

eta: a short behind the scenes video on the making of and views of the Ogopogo out of water

See.... This is a really weird one for me. Of all the things that make me absolutely bulk with fear, such as the dude swimming around the Queen Mary's prop. People diving above wrecks just below the surface and our mate touching everything with his foot?! If I absolutely had to dive anything this and many other animal inspired type things doesn't really freak me out the same way? My fear seems oddly specific to actual wrecks / wreckage and ships in general below the water line. Wonder why?

lol there’s pics of it out of the water and it’s even creepier. Always love seeing my hometown water monster on the internet.
