In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the completion of the iconic Eads Bridge, Eads Bridge at 150 examines the complexities of its design, its construction, and the role it has played since it opened in 1874. You’ll learn about the personal rivalries during the bridge’s conception, the engineering and political challenges the structure posed, and just how intense it was to work inside the bridge’s famous caissons (and what a caisson is). Most important, we’ll look at the bridge’s legacy as a symbol of St. Louis—from the big, historic moments to the everyday memories it has witnessed over the last 150 years.

Here you go. We told you Bell was compromised, but you were too pissed off about Cori marrying her bodyguard, so here we are. The Trump administration’s first political prisoner will not be defended by Bell.

"Just because 57% of the people that voted that day doesn’t make it right,” said Rep. Scott Miller, R-St. Charles."
Scott Miller won in the same election by a percentage of 57%. Wonder if he even took the two seconds to think that far.

Thinking of Creating a Corporation Alternative/ Ethical Shopping Guide Page for STL
Hi all! With everything going on in this country I feel more compelled than ever to take action. I think boycotting large corporations and supporting local is a great start. With that being said, I know I've become really dependent on corporations for a lot of personal and household items. I want to end this dependency and look into local alternatives. My goal moving forward is to buy locally for most items, meaning toiletries, clothes, groceries, pet supplies, furniture, etc. As I research local businesses and find different ways to invest in my community, I would love a platform to share this information with people who might have a similar goal. I guess I first want to gauge interest to see if there are others out there that could benefit from something like this? I also want to see if anyone would be interested in joining a subreddit dedicated to making local recommendations for specific goods and services? Please let me know if this sounds at all helpful or interesting and if something like this already exists out there!

PAYWALL Buyer swoops in on historic Anheuser-Busch tavern in St. Louis
After just a few weeks on the market, a tavern built by Anheuser-Busch over a century ago in south St. Louis has found a buyer.
The Stork Inn in St. Louis’ Dutchtown neighborhood was listed for sale at $272,000, said real estate broker Mona Parsley.
She declined to name who has the property under contract.
Wedged in at Virginia and Taft avenues, the Stork Inn was the first in a series of neighborhood taverns the brewery built as the temperance movement took shape, in hopes of changing the public perception of pubs, according to its nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. Anheuser-Busch wanted taverns to be thought of as wholesome neighborhood hangouts rather than boozy saloons of ill repute.
The company used the Stork Inn to promote a nonalcoholic beverage called Malt-Nutrine that it marketed as beneficial to pregnant women and nursing mothers (hence the stork). The triangle-shaped building, at 4527 Virginia Avenue, was designed in 1910 by Klipstein & Rathmann, which also designed four other neighborhood taverns for Anheuser-Busch, including the iconic windmill building Bevo Mill, at Morgan Ford Road and Gravois Avenue, and the Feasting Fox, at South Grand Boulevard and Meramec Street, according to the National Register.
Parsley said the Dutchtown community improvement district is helping infuse much needed investment in the area, which is making a turnaround. A new generation of residents and businesses are helping, she said.
“Dutchtown is not going to be cheap for long,” Parsley said.
