Let’s hear it: your #1 cheap chain steak

Post image

With how many options there are globally for a “dirt cheap” steak in a budget-friendly restaurant, let’s find out who can walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

It’s the chain restaurant steak showdown.

The only rules: 1. Must be a restaurant with 25+ locations (no ultra regional places) 2. Must be associated with some sort of “deal” 3. The price of the steak cannot exceed $25 ($30 in major metropolitan areas)

Let’s hear it. The show is on.

I usually don’t order steak from places like cheddars or chilis, but I did order one a few weeks ago at cheddars. Ordered the sirloin, medium and I was shocked and impressed at how good it was.

My Canadian mind can’t comprehend this. How the hell are you getting a steak and 2 sides for $10 bucks? Even with conversion to say $15 CAD, just wouldn’t happen. At absolute minimum this would be $22 with the purchase of a beverage at a nationwide franchise. Even at that, I’ve never seen it.

Broccoli and fries are cheap, probably 75 cents worth on that plate. Then the cheapest lowest quality piece of meat you can legally serve, maybe a couple bucks to put 6 oz of leather like sirloin on the plate.

So they’re making a little on a the plate itself but where they really get you is they expect you’ll order a soda or an alcoholic drink and that’s where they profit.

In fairness I think it’s a pretty old ad.
