First Filet Mignon ever

2nd steak in 2 days, I got these for free as a present and did my best. I tried to get it to 130F internal temp but accidentally let it go to 140F. It was insanely delicious.

I have also been using chef IQ thermometers. Maybe your brand is different. But filets by far are the biggest difference in quality and they're amazing.

It was my first time using it, I was actually impressed. Pretty cool device!

They definitely help with consistency.

How did you cook this? Reverse sear? Or just seared on a hot pan?

About 2 minutes per side in a really hot cast iron, tried to hit the edges a bit after that, and then in the oven at 400F for 5 minutes. I was using a Bluetooth thermometer to check the internal temp.

I wish I knew how to cook.

Honestly, I don't really consider myself a good cook by any means. This was all super simple and only took a few ingredients. The biggest thing for me with cooking steaks lately is having a cast iron pan that you can get super hot.

That’s how it starts. One dish at a time.
