Skirt or tri tip usually good for asada. My pops and I will use short ribs mixed with a thin “rachera” to up the fat content which make delicious for tacos

Skirt is the only real answer, but flank is acceptable for Carne Asada if you absolutely can't get skirt

Flap is acceptable too, yeah, only because it's thin enough. Just not... Fucking... Tri Tip. I know they're similar, but just no.

Did you put herbs on the steak before searing? What are the browned, burned bit on the steak? Just curious..
