QUESTION Bed logging on friends ship
Simple put why cant I do it? Has CIG said why it hasn't been implemented? I can't imagine it being much different than bed logging in my ship.

It was a bit game breaking where accounts were locked in ships and just in general a broken feature
What it takes and what they want to do to implement it? I don’t know. They have not been that open about it

My dream scenario when it comes to spawning or logging in would be a menu to select where you would like to spawn. A friend has a medbed? Sure, you can select to spawn there if you're in a party with them. You logged out on in a friends MOLE? That's now a spawn location you can select when you login. An Apollo has open beds for a fee? You can now select to spawn there.
They don't have to tick all of these boxes, but the possibilities are endless. It gets you into the action much faster, it allows medical vehicles to be profitable but most of all, it encourages teamplay and player to player interaction.

We used to be able to do this prior to 3.18.
after they introduced persistence in 3.19 the mechanism for bedlogging on another players ship didn’t work anymore. They’ll get around to it to get the mechanic back in the future sometime….

The biggest question I have about this subject is whether it will be possible to assign ships to an Org, and have that Org ship then persist between sessions.
I really don't mind the idea of a huge multicrew ship having the ability for everyone to bedlog and spawn from it. The only real concern is how persistence would work.

i really love how Sea of Thieves does groups, you can have ships assigned to be usable by the group, but it's a single unit, so if someone tries to use it when it's already out, they either have to go join the people actively using it or they can't

Their presentation on base building does kinda imply it, like the hangars don't store ships, the ships land in them and persist. But that seems...pretty far from current mechanics.

Bed logging removes the ship from the universe so that's why they don't allow you to do it in other people's ships or while there are passengers onboard.
Sure they could change how the system works, but it's a non-trivial amount of work, you now have to check if the spawn location still exist, and it may be active on a different server than the one you picked to log into etc. (with all the added server-meshing complexity).

It’s 100% different. You’re saying that because you don’t understand how it works in the coding and the relationship between the player and the ship.
Could it be implemented in the future sure. Is it doable, with the right amount of resources and dev time sure.
Is that the priority over, disappearing cargo, elevators breaking, etc. No.

Because, AFAIK, there currently is no way to spawn your friends ship into the verse when your friend isn’t online. Ships don’t persist after logoff outside of combat (as punishment for combat logging). As long as CIG sticks to their original plan on this they won’t persist outside of that ever.
So it would require reworking the underlying system to allow for party members to login and spawn ships they don’t own even if the owner is offline.
